I either forgot about this or don't remember it, but either way, it was an abomination and the poster child of Political Correctness/Nation Building/Multiculturalism, run amok.

What is worse is that according to the timeline (supposedly May 2008) this would have made it under W's watch, which should not surprise anyone, as this poor naive, uninformed and misled (no doubt by Islamo-Fascist, Jihad/Muslim Brotherhood-supporting TRAITOR--Grover Norquist--who should have been banned and shunned by all Conservatives a long time ago) "Compassionate Conservative" RINO, Bush, started out being a "Crusader-like Commander,"--ready, willing and able to kick some Radical-Islamic ass--and ended up like so many other "Dhimmis" praising/defending/appeasing, the faux, cult-cum-religion of "Pieces!" and its practitioners!

GOD forbid (pun intended) we should have allowed any "Proseletizing" and anyone trying to convert the heathen/barbarian/rock-worshipping-pagans.

For fuck's sake that's not a fucking pun. A pun is a play on words, you're just using the expression straight (meaning exactly as it's meant to be used). Neither the individual words "god" and "forbid" nor the phrase "god forbid" have any alternate definitions being used here. You are also not substituting a homophone or a homograph.

All you did was take what is a usually empty plea and made it not empty. And yes, I know it's weird that this is the one thing I pick on but it annoys me when people use words that they don't know the meaning of in an attempt to sound clever.

Mudak, not trying to wade into a political debate here, but I think a case can be made that W was not a conservative - at least not from a small government, libertarian perspective. Bush increased federal spending to levels exceeding that established by his predecessor, Bill Clinton, and imposed some of the most sweeping expansions of government in American history, through legislation like the Patriot Act. Furthermore, his expansionist wars overseas do not fit a libertarian understanding of appropriate warfare, as they were not launched in self-defense or out of military necessity, thus spending trillions of dollars of taxpayer money on an idealistic crusade to establish "democracy" in two nations that never even asked the United States to come in and impose its system of government on them. Furthermore, Bush's social agenda - while nominally "conservative" in the Republican sense - does not fit with a small government vantage point, which says that the government has no business being in people's bedrooms, etc.

One thing that modern Americans do not really understand is that big government exists on both wings of the political aisle, with Fascism and Communism being its two extremes. Today, we are more often than not given a choice between left-wing government expansion (Obama) and right-wing government expansion (Bush). There are very few small government conservatives in either of the two major parties.

I use pages torn from Bibles on the rare occasions when I run out of bog paper (Mmmmm-hmmmm, the paper used in Bibles is soooo absorbent! My ringpiece certainly feels the benefit! It's the only possible way that Bibles serve any practical purpose, short of pulping such to make paper for printing "On the Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin, "A Brief History of Time" by Prof. Stephen Hawking", and "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins.).

Certainly a better use for Bibles than merely burning them, I'm sure you'll agree, eh?!

Okay. The next time you're 'Proseltysed' by Jehovah's Witnesses, Hare Krishnas etc, or even asked to take the 'Personality Test' by $cientologists, you'll immediately want to join them? (check one):

See, Vermont, the thing is...those bibles make people angry. It was a matter of the military objective of not getting unnecessary extra people killed. We have the ability to kill everyone in the world, but if we go around doing that, we are totally fucked, and will be killed. Our defense is nowhere near equal to our attack, and we have in fact got goals other than killing whoever we happen to be fighting now.

Crusading is not actually possible in this world that we live in, because each country is accountable to ALL of the others. Yes, even America. If we had killed everyone in Afghanistan to make sure they would never turn on us again and make it clear that we had won, we would not only have set a new war crimes record that would put us in the book with the Nazis, we would have lost everything.

Theoretical points for knowing the word 'dhimmi,' but I don't think it means what you think it means. We do not, in fact, live in a Muslim empire and pay the rulers an extra tax for being non-Muslim worshipers of Allah.

(Incidentally, I disagree with Sam. The conceptualization of the God of Abraham varies across confessional lines as Athena varied from cult to cult across ancient Greece and classical Rome, but is very, very definitely the same deity.)
