I absolutely loved our Muslim-In_Chief's Call to Reason this morning, when he bemoaned that "burning the Koran is against OUR traditions". (Who is "our"?? Americans burning shit for centuries: during Prohibition, wars, protests...witchhunts)
But there he goes again: he keeps revealing those muslim roots of his.

Yes, we Americans have burned a lot of shit. But obviously not enough; Moonbattery posters, for example, still exist.
Burning religious books is against American traditions. Any book burnings come from fundie fuqtards like you, which are NOT tradtional, but lunatic fringe.
What is so friggin' difficult for you to get that?
...Um, during the witch hunts, victims were hanged. They were barely, if ever, burned here; that was mostly Europe.

Which is why he needed to make a call to reason; just for you and your ilk.
Actually, the traditional way of disposing of the Koran is to burn it...so no, he isn't, you utter fucking imbecile.
Oh, sorry. Obama was referring to the traditions of the America that had its shit together and had respect for one another while you're referring to the traditions of the America that wants to kick some ass. An honest mistake.
(Seriously, you resorted to our noble tradition of pre-colonial witch trials in order to score points about Obama? How low can fundies go?)
Religious toleration is one of our American traditions.
Luckily for us at FSTDT, toleration of stupidity is not.
It's true that the United States does have a history of burning things (books, Beatles CDs, flags, anything that pisses us off) but normally not religious books. Besides, Obama was worried that Americans burning Qurans would piss off Muslim extremists in the Middle East and that they would take it out on soldiers stationed there. It doesn't mean Obama is a Muslim, and even if he was it shouldn't matter.
In other words, you're fucking stupid.

Christians burned innocent people at the stake, and still do in some places, but I wouldn't be bragging about it if I were you.
When Muslims burn American flags and Bibles, you'll get cranky. But you'll sit around defending America's right to do the same to theirs. And then you'll claim it's a Muslim thing to do when they do it, but a good Christian thing to do when you do it.
I recall too who loved these book burnings way back in 1930's, lovely old chaps they were and they did burn all sorts of cool stuff en masse too.
They were called god damn nazis.
Book-burning is the act of ignorant, boorish monsters. That goes for any and all books, even the ones that really really suck. It is a tasteless, spiteful act and the kind of behavior that marks a small, brutal mind.
</lit-lover rant>
What he is referring to is that BURNING BOOKS in general is severly un-American and even borederline, if not so, uncosntitutional.
And I just "love" how you made sure to add withchunt in there. GDIAF or get a fucking education.

You're bragging about this?
Burning a religious text is against American tradition, because freedom of religion is one of the founding principles of our country. The majority of the colonial settlers here were refugees who, had they remained in Europe, would have been executed for being the "wrong" kind of Christian. Nobody wanted a repeat of that here, hence the First Amendment.
Oh, and no one in what is now the United States ever burned witches. The innocents in Salem were hanged and pressed to death. Burning witches was generally relegated to Catholics, mostly in Spain and Germany.
But there he goes again: he keeps revealing his ignorance of history.
You just revealed those Nazi roots of yours.
(In case you didn't know, Nazis had big book burning bonfires where they burned books about evolution.)
Funny you should mention witch hunts because if fundies ever got the theocracy they crave that's exactly what we'd get and within a very short time frame. Actually, scratch that. Fundies are ALREADY involved in a witch hunt against Muslims and just like in the good ol' days they're accusing people who aren't; such as Obama.

Ah, so I guess you wouldn't mind in the slightest if Atheists in the US did the same to Bibles? Of course, the Boy Scouts of America burn a Stars & Stripes when it's become old & tatty; they consider this the most dignified method of disposal. So mayhaps that isn't so bad when done to Bibles; therefore another method of desecrating your Holy Writ is required. But which one...? Ah yes, I know - but methinks you wouldn't like it. A clue for free, ObowOUT:
I have several, but not for reading. I keep them in my toilet room; there's those occasions when I run out of bog paper. The paper used in Bibles is soooo absorbent...!
>:D
No. Burning books in general is against American traditions, because the only people interested in burning books are people against freedom, and the United States is the world's longest continually-existing democracy. Ergo, you fail and are anti-American.

Well, at least he can admit the truth, the sad part is that he seems to think that this is a 'good' thing...
Americans burning shit during the Prohibition? As in barrels of booze? Ooooookay, you light them up and stay close to make sure they keep burning, I'll tape the spectacle from beyond the blast radius... :P
Oh, and FYI, about the "protests" part: according to Snopes , the "bra-burning feminists" image is just that, an image invented by a journalist to describe militant feminists, no actual bra-burning happened (though his inspiration came partly from incidents where people had burned their draft card)
Yeah, because not shitting all over other peoples beliefs in a large public display is soooo un-American.
I guess if speaking out against the burning of a bunch of Korans makes one a Muslim, then I guess I'm a Muslim... Though I had absolutely no idea I was. All this time I thought I was a non-practicing Catholic.
Confused?
