The Pope has laid down the gauntlet to those aggressive atheists that wish to eradicate God from our society. There is a direct connection between aggressive atheism and Nazi tyranny. I only have to look at those aggressive atheists on TV to know this is self-evident. Thank you Holy Father for speaking out against this evil aggressive atheism that permeates my beautiful land.

Uh, no. The direct link is between the Nazis and the Catholic Church.
P.S. As regards the era of the Nazis and the current mess with child molestation, the Pope needs (needed) to make bold actions not just speak out.
O sweet irony, thy name is Catholicism.
Coming from a group whose leader gave the blessings of the Vatican to Hitler and Nazi Germany, you assholes have a lot of balls talking about atheists being evil.
Hitler claimed to be doing the work of God when he exterminate the Jews and you bastards never said anything to condemn him until decades later.
Take your declaration, fold it until it's all sharp corners, and shove it up your ass sideways.
Wait, wait, wait... isn't the pope HIMSELF a former Nazi youth?
Oh, and the German soldiers had "God With Us" or something along those lines in German on their sleeves, and the Nazi party had full support from the German Catholic church. Also, I'm to lazy to look them up right now, but I know there's multiple quotes BY Hitler about him calling for the eradication of not only jews, but gays and atheists as well.
Intstant fail- just add GODWIN
sounds to me like tehy are trying to distract attention from thw rampant kiddie fucking that goes on behind closed luxurious doors
incidently, GOTT MIT UNS motherfucker
@"The Catholic Whistle":
Please do not misinterpret what the Pope said.
And I say this as a Catholic - who knows well enough to not follow Rome blindly.
As everyone else has noted, the Church did not have a good record during WWII. The Church is made of people, who are just as prone to evil as the rest of us. It has been seeking forgiveness for what some of those people did during the war for over fifty years.
@Those who've remarked that Joseph Ratzinger was in the Hitler Youth:
He was automatically conscripted, as were almost all teenage boys in Germany. He was not a willing member, and skipped the meetings. Later on, he deserted his unit after he was drafted into the army towards the end of the war (note: he was 16 when he was drafted, and 18 when he deserted. At that time, the punishment for desertion was summary execution). I do not agree with all of his policies, but no one can call him a former Nazi.
Pope Arsehead the 15th,
Hitler was baptised a Catholic and never renounced his faith, you want to claim there being 5.2 million Catholics in the UK (based on baptismal records) then you have to acknowledge Hitler as on of your own!
Also you covered up child abuse, you have no moral authority at all!
Regards,
Reality
There is a direct connection between aggressive atheism and Nazi tyranny.
Then show it to us. Show us the connection. Don't just talk about it. Explain to us in detail how the Nazis were linked to aggressive atheism.
Thank you Holy Father for speaking out against this evil aggressive atheism that permeates my beautiful land.
*ahem* YOUR land?
Also--fuck you.

Fuck the Pope. How many divisions does he have?

"More than you think, Comrade Stalin."
I'll accept moral instruction from an ex-Nazi right after I accept culinary direction from the Ramen Noodle company.
The well known Catholic dictator, Hitler, was against atheism and murdered atheists and burned their books. The Catholic Pope Ratzinger obviously knows this to be a fact and so is guilty of massive, massive lying and the enormous spreading of misinformation in order to stir up the gullible. Let's see if The Catholic Whistle can provide evidence of aggressive atheists. Don't hold your breath.
By the way Ratzi, the mocking of the protecting wicked wizard of child abusers, the gigantic, foppish, villain of Rome, the Pope, is not aggression, but simple derision.
Also, The Catholic Whistle please note, the use of reason by atheists in the media may well be disastrous for the Roman Catholic Church, but it is not aggression. Reason has never been a friend of the religious, but you can't blame reasonable people from resorting to its use.
"There is a direct connection between aggressive atheism and Nazi tyranny. "
Yes, Nazi Tyranny and their christian allies (see pictures above) was defeated by agressive atheism.
Except for the fact that most Nazis were Catholics, of course.
Most atheists I know are very far from aggressive. Most are very much opposed to the Death Penalty and wars.
Sure, the current pope was forced to enroll into Hitler Jugend, but then he ought to have seen that the Catholic Church was kinda letting Hitler doing what he wanted to do.
I understand that a big part of people thinking Hitler was an atheist has to do with "Hitler's Table Talk"--specifically, the French translation which took...liberties...with the content by adding anti-Christian strands to the transcriptions.
Anyone got the original German to compare?

"The Pope has laid down the gauntlet to those aggressive atheists that wish to eradicate God from our society."
Tell the Pope I accept. I think I can take a doddering old codger that wears a funny hat and a dress.
"There is a direct connection between aggressive atheism and Nazi tyranny."
There is also a direct connection between the number of pirates and the average global temperature. Or so I've been told.
"I only have to look at those aggressive atheists on TV to know this is self-evident."
What fucking channel are you watching?
"Thank you Holy Father for speaking out against this evil aggressive atheism that permeates my beautiful land."
Yes, yes. I'm sure some nice protestant fundy will be along shortly to tell you what a filthy Mary-worshiping heathen you are and how you're no better than us atheists.
^^^
I heard the Pope was taken ill during his recent visit to the UK. Whisked away to hospital while drifting in and out of consciousness he awoke to see a beautiful woman bending over him.
'Am I in Heaven? he asked...
...'No', replied the nurse, "we're just taking a short-cut through the childrens' ward...."
Why on earth would atheists try to eradicate something they don't even believe exists? That would be like trying to eradicate the tooth fairy from society.
Now, some of us would like to eradicate delusional beliefs, which we know do exist.
The poor things just can't stand the fact that Hitler was a Catholic who, just like modern Catholics, persecuted atheists.
BTW. Pope Ratzi was a frekin' Nazi, you ignorant dolt!
"There is a direct connection between aggressive atheism and Nazi tyranny."
Yup, I have to agree.
Aggressive atheists never systematically fucked little boys in the ass then covered it up, and neither did the Nazis. Absolutely, a direct connection.
1. Last time I checked the UK was still officially protestant, so technically it's not your society, so much as it's the Crown's society, which is no longer fiercely hostile towards those of you who aren't part of the official cult. From my understanding you can thank the secularism you are so quick to bash, for that.
2. Who cares what the pope says? He's the anti-Christ, or so my protestant upbringing taught me.
3. Is a Catholic Whistle anything like a meat whistle? I know priests are fond of blowing those, especially the newer models amirite.
Ooooh, those aggressive atheists ! Writing books and talking on TV! Not like those nice Christians shooting abortion doctors, raping children, killing homosexuals, and other free expressions of religion.
"The Pope has laid down the gauntlet to those aggressive atheists that wish to eradicate God from our society."
So the pope laid down the gauntlet to the phantoms in your imagination... got it.
"There is a direct connection between aggressive atheism and Nazi tyranny."
Why yes there is... It's called "Der Ostfront", And it is where aggressive atheism pounded Nazi tyranny into the dirt.
"I only have to look at those aggressive atheists on TV to know this is self-evident."
You been watching the history channel. So what.
"Thank you Holy Father for speaking out against this evil aggressive atheism that permeates my beautiful land."
Huh?
"The poop has laid down the gaunlet to those aggressive atheists that wish to eradicate gawd from our society".
Is that your statement to us atheists? Ok, well here is my response:
How about the poop laying down the gauntlet to those aggressive priest who wish to molest children under the cover of your religion?
Response: (sounds of crickets chirping).
Come little altar boy and blow my Catholic Whistle. Oh, and Hitler, who never renounced his Catholicism, declared he had abolished atheism from Germany.
Can you believe the fucking nerve of an actual Nazi heading an organization that collaborated with Nazis, blaming Nazis on a group they persecuted in camps and murdered (that would be atheists)? FUCK YOU, LYING LIAR. Hitler taught you well.
Is there a direct link between atheism and nazis?, could you care to explain why now, with more atheism than ever, nazis are not one tenth as powerful as they used to be?
"I'm surprised at all of the pope bashing here."
Pope Ratzi helped cover up the pedophile priest scandal. He also is aiding the AIDS epidemic in Africa by spreading lies about condoms. Now he's calling atheists a bunch of racist mass murderers.
He's a fucking asshole.
"You know that there's a new pope every generation or so? They're not the same person."
We're simply pointing out the irony of the Pope blaming the Holocaust on atheists when it was his church who supported the Nazis. No-one's saying that Ratzi is personally responsible.
"I also hope that you don't hold the mistakes of my youth and childhood (think spice girls) against me."
Again, simply pointing out the irony of a former Hitler Youth blaming the atheists for the Nazis. I agree that it's a stretch to actually call him a Nazi, since I don't think it was optional to join.
Are you seriously conflating the Nazi party and the Spice Girls fan club, though? That's a little... tenuous.
"I only have to look at those aggressive atheists on TV"
With the exception of the late Madalyn Murray O'Hare, I've never seen an atheist on TV.
And there is no god to eradicate, dipshit, just idiots like you.
"There is a direct connection between aggressive atheism and Nazi tyranny."
Ahem:

('Gott Mit Uns' translated as 'God With Us', for the hard of thinking such as The Catholic Whistle).
Oh, and while we're on the subject about Nazis, care to explain this - a past image of your current Pope?:

I love the smell of destroyed arguments in the morning. Smells like... victory.
There is a direct connection between aggressive atheism and Nazi tyranny.
I completely agree that there is a "direct connection"; the Nazi party used Christianity to legitimize atrocities against the Jewish people and as a consequence millions died and many million more suffered. It is EXACTLY because of such things that modern Atheism has a much more aggressive approach towards organized religion; because time and time again in history we have seen what such large-scale religious rampages can inflict on mankind.
Oddly enough, I've never experienced aggressive atheists screaming a threat of eternal damnation at me in the High Street on a Saturday morning. Neither have I ever had aggressive atheists knocking on my door on a Sunday morning offering me a copy of 'The God Delusion'.
Now, aggressive Christians...
Nazi's were christians. They had christian slogans. Hitlers speeches invoked the name of god.
*Hitler was NEVER excommunicated nor condemned by his church.
*Hitler wrote “The fact that the Vatican is concluding a treaty with the new Germany means the acknowledgement of the National Socialist state by the Catholic Church. This treaty shows the whole world clearly and unequivocally that the assertion that National Socialism [Nazism] is hostile to religion is a lie.”
*The Nazi insisted that Christianity was taught in schools.
*The Nazi regime forced the German soldiers to wear religious symbols such as the belt buckle which reads “Gott Mit Uns”. (“God With Us”.)
*The German troops were often forced to get sprinkled with holy water and listen to a sermon by a Catholic priest before going out on a maneuver.
*Adolf Hitler, in a speech: “We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out.”
*Adolf Hitler again, in "Mein Kampf": "The anti-Semetism of the new movement (the Christian Social Movement) was based on religious ideas instead of racial knowledge." Adolf Hitler.
*And last, but not least..."I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so." - Adolf Hitler, to General Gerhard Engel, 1941
The very fact that these people need to lie so much to promote their beliefs or condemn those who don't share them is all the PROOF we need that they have NO truth to tell.
It's hard to take that kind of criticism seriously from a Pope who was in the Hitler Youth. Not to mention the several speeches made by Hitler, who was a Catholic and given the a-ok by the church, against atheism.
Also the whole anti-atheism message was a thinly veiled attempt to ignore the child molestation scandals and the sexist comments he made about female priests and the humanitarian crises caused by telling areas with AIDS epidemics that condoms are evil.
Confused?
