Today at work a co-worker and I were on our breaks at the same time. We had to eat out in the lobby (I work at a McDonald's) because the store manager was talking to another employee about something. He was making small talk and then out of nowhere asked me what I thought about the mosque in New York. I said that it shouldn't be built because of what Muslims did on 9/11. He said something about not all Muslims being that way. I said that Islam is a religion that tells its adherents to kill those who won't submit. He said (I'm paraphrasing but it was pretty close to this), "Well, I won't kill you if you don't submit." I kind of suspected that he was a Muslim but now I finally knew. And I have to admit, that last thing he said chilled me to the bone.

Anyway, I had a great opportunity to witness and I failed. I just froze up; I wasn't really sure what to say. I've never actually spoken to a person who's holy book tells him to kill me and everyone else that worships the true Living God. I don't know if I'm asking for advice or just sharing a story.

It's better to have witnessed and failed than to have not witnessed at all. I expect that's a common occurrence for you. I suppose it's a bit like being washed up on the shores of a remote island and suddenly a primitive tribal loony appears out of the jungle and starts jabbering away at you like a deranged plonker. Of course, in your case, we'd most likely recognize that English was being used, although I imagine it probably wouldn't be very intelligible.

You'll probably do a stretch in one of God's torture chambers for wasting an opportunity to convert a heathen. However, I'll help you out with a spot of persecution, for your quota, I don't know if it's a monthly, weekly, annual, or what period you have to accumulate what amount. I mean, to me, not being killed for ignoring religious people's demands is a good thing.

Maybe it's just that rapturite death cultists can't be persecuted without their delusions. Since that's basically all they live for, this phrase obviously showed you that your life has been an enormous waste of time. I can see how that would be a little scary.
