Quote# 76594

Shirvell acknowledged protesting outside of Armstrong's house and calling him "Satan's representative on the student assembly."

"I'm a Christian citizen exercising my First Amendment rights," Shirvell told CNN's Anderson Cooper. "I have no problem with the fact that Chris is a homosexual. I have a problem with the fact that he's advancing a radical homosexual agenda."

[To put this in perspective: Chris Armstrong is the student body president at the University of Michigan. Andrew Shirvell is assistant attorney general for the state of Michigan.]

I have no problem with the fact that Andrew is a Christian. I have a problem with the fact that he's advancing a fundamentalist, homophobic agenda.

See what I did there?

Well, this guy's gonna be hit with a libel suit at some point in the future. I especially like how Shirvell posted that Armstrong was, and I quote "engaging in "flagrant sexual promiscuity" with another male member of the student government; sexually seducing and influencing "a previously conservative [male] student" so much so that the student, according to Shirvell, "morphed into a proponent of the radical homosexual agenda;" hosting a gay orgy in his dorm room in October 2009; and trying to recruit incoming first year students "to join the homosexual 'lifestyle.' "

Classy.

I usually don't think that abusive or foul-mouthed posts are much help to anyone, but...

What a DICKHEAD!

Dear everyone: the right to free speech does NOT include harassment or stalking.

... surely that's basic common sense? Why does this guy not seem to grasp this? And he's an assistant attorney general? Doesn't that kind of job involve, you know, knowing stuff about legal matters? If I were his boss, I'd be firing him right now for clearly not having a fucking clue about basic legal concepts.

Hey, Michigan, you need to fire this Shirvell fucktard now, because you're going to be hit with one big-ass lawsuit if you don't.

It is not your right to harass someone due to them being homosexual. Should you not know this already? Are you just a huge arsehole? Me thinks yes.

That's not protesting, that's stalking. I don't care if you're carrying a picket sign and a megaphone you can't follow someone to their house and harass them there.

Why is it they always think that if a gay person is in a position of power, no matter how small the position or power is, they leap to the "advancing a radical homosexual agenda" conclusion?

*edit* Apparently Shirvell has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into his activities. But this whole thing has me wondering why he's targeting Chris Armstrong so much? I'm sure Armstrong isn't the only gay person in Michigan.

I watched that clip for about 1 minute before I had to stop. Reminded me far too much of Peewee Herman's evil brother.

Anyway I think I read he is on personal leave and subject to a disciplinary review on return.

Look, I am a reasonably attractive guy that never had problems getting girlfriends in my youth and I never had any man try and recruit me to the homosexual lifestyle. In fact, I don't recall ever having to tell a man that I wasn't gay or bi or whatever.

What the fuck planet are these people on?

With what just happened at Rutgers it is time, once and for all, to stop the persecution and marginalization of these people.

While I think it's awesome that Armstrong is a gay student body president who's working for transgender housing (or so I heard), seriously, Shirvell. It was a molehill that you don't need to make into an embarrassing mountain.

"I'm a Christian citizen exercising my First Amendment rights," Shirvell told CNN's Anderson Cooper.

Just like Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist flock.

"I have no problem with the fact that Chris is a homosexual.

I call BS. If this isn't personal, why are you harassing him at his home?

I have a problem with the fact that he's advancing a radical homosexual agenda."

Fascinating. Please continue. What "radical homosexual agenda" is he advancing, exactly?

Being an AAG, I'm sure you can tell us precisely what Armstrong has done that is illegal.

Then, when you're done, perhaps you could explain to us how the state of Michigan legally defines the terms stalking, harrassment, and libel?

Your actions show you to be a homophobe. Therefore you are hateful. Like Satan. Nice job Mr. Shirvell. You did exercise your first amendment rights. Right outside his house which can be considered harassment.
