The "Democracy is Totally Gay" Award

Quote# 76795

It should be remembered that ‘democracy’ was originally advocated by the philosophers Plato and Socrates, both homosexual pedophiles. Some contend that these historical facts are irrelevant. There are others who claim that, because of this, democracy is inherently homosexual. This may well be the case. Consider the fact that, just recently, the people of Canada and Spain, along with quite a few other democratic Christian nations, actually voted in favor of same sex marriages. For the first time in more than 2,000 years, the State was now allowed to sanction sodomy as an individual right and to give explicit approval and encouragement to the act of anal sex.

Ephebophiles, huuuge difference. (Also, as far as we know, Plato kept it in his pants. Thus the origin of the term "Platonic")

Also neither of them liked Democracy. Plato was really into a system of government under which everyone would undertake the task which they did best, ruled by philosophers.
Socrates considered it unenlightened, and while he did not offer an alternative (That I can remember) he did point out perceived weaknesses.

Have you ever read Plato? Oh you can't because he is a heathen. Well if democracy is gay then let us all be very gay ;)

Sanction, OK.
Approval...allowing is correct but approval is stretching it in my mind but, OK.
Encouragement? Citation please?

Maybe, but a lot of the vestments of the clergy of a lot of different religions are pretty gay, too.

Worst argument against democracy (or any other governing system) ever.

#1216735 already said it but to reiterate for emphasis, Plato and Socrates were both highly critical of the Athenian Democratic system and neither is known to have engaged in what we would call pedophilia.

The rest of your comment, Korning, is pretty hollow.

Just how is it that some people can become so ignorant, so uninformed and so irrational? Does the author honestly believe what he writes or is he just happy to lie to support his prejudices? Can't he see that he invites ridicule whenever he produces something as outright wrong as this drivel?

My head hurts.

Apart from what has already been pointed out (Socrates and Plato were highly critical of the democratic athenian government and neither of them was a paedophile), the weirdest thing here is that he considers everything a gay person does or says or invents or advocates to be possibly inherently homosexual. Like Andersen's fairy tales. The Sistine Chapel frescoes. Tchaikovsky's symphonies. All of it gaaaaaay.

Do you want to talk about all the "Christians" who have been discovered recently to be flaming faggots? From Ted Haggard, to the Georgia bishop (can't recall his name ATM) Larry Craig, Mark Sanford, Jim Foley, to all those priests.... Now, do you think homosexuality is reserved for the Democrats, or is it more of an equal-opportunity preference? It seems more likely that sexual deviance is more aligned with Christianity than it is with liberalism.

I suppose a Christian Theocracy is inherently heterosexual.

"It should be remembered that ‘democracy’ was originally advocated by the philosophers Plato and Socrates, both homosexual pedophiles."

Technically they would have been pederasts, but that's neither here nor there. What, exactly, does that have to do with their ideas of how a government should be run?

"Some contend that these historical facts are irrelevant."

Because they are. They could have been cannibalistic mass murderers and it still wouldn't make any difference. Either their idea is sound or it is not. Their character is irrelevant.

"There are others who claim that, because of this, democracy is inherently homosexual."

I don't believe I can honestly say that I have ever heard such a thing.

"This may well be the case."

Your critical thinking, reasoning abilities and logical skills are severely lacking.

"Consider the fact that, just recently, the people of Canada and Spain, along with quite a few other democratic Christian nations, actually voted in favor of same sex marriages."

So have a handful of U.S. states, or weren't you aware of that?

"For the first time in more than 2,000 years, the State was now allowed to sanction sodomy as an individual right and to give explicit approval and encouragement to the act of anal sex."

And why is it any of your business again?

There is a lot of evidence that King James engaged in homosexual activities. If he wasn't "all out" gay, he was at the least bisexual. Therefore, using your logic, anything that comes from the translating of the Bible into English and all subsequent translations is not only allowing and sanctioning homosexuality, they are also giving explicit approval and encouraging the act of anal sex.

Since this popped up as a double post, I may as well use the space to make a point.

Alan Turing is the father of the modern computer. He was arrested in England for being gay and committed suicide rather than continue the court mandated "treatment" to cure his gayness. So, using Jason's logic, using a computer will inherently make a person a suicidal homosexual.

Although, some may "contend that these historical facts are irrelevant".

It is obvious that you have never read Plato's "Republic". If you had, you would know that Plato OPPOSED democracy and favored autocracy.

from Wikipedia: Judas Maccabeus strongly disapproved of athletic games and competitions, which were a **clear influence of Greek culture, ** were introduced into Jerusalem by his staunch enemies the Hellenising Jews, and were abolished upon his getting control of the city.

So, no sports for you, either.

That must be why so many politicians are closeted gays that have sex with page boys. It all makes sense now.

@1216765/Rex:
H.C. Andersen most certainly wasn't gay.
The rest fit, but H.C. Andersen spent too many pages writing about the women he was smitten with to be gay.
