My point was that NONE of us were there when the universe began. That may have been six billion years ago, or only six thousand - there was no one there to keep time or record how many years had gone by. Time itself may have been thought about differently, since there were no people to keep track of it and the calendar, clock, etc., are all human inventions.
Yeah, and if there are no witnesses we should let all murderers go free, right? I mean after all, nobody was there to see it and it's possible that a lightspeed alien came down to Earth and squeezed the trigger rendering the murderer innocent. Or maybe the gun spontaneously grew a consciousness of its own, hopped into the murderer's hand, and fired itself.
As a Christian, I do believe that the Bible is the record of God's word, and I personally would rather believe the word of the only intelligent entity to be around at that time, then put my trust in modern guesswork.
Except that you have no proof that any such entity ever existed and we only have proof of this book being written by Iron Age Hebrews so your real trust is in the testimony of ancient people.
That is just my opinion, however, and you are free to bash me all you want for it.
Exactly. You have a right to your opinion and we have the right to think it's absolutely ludicrous. I applaud you on at least understanding that people disagreeing with you isn't a form of persecution but rather a basic right.
