Quote# 7689

(Responding to an article about Popo Bawa, the most feared spirit-monster of the Zanzibar spice islands)

I had a demon spirit attack me in this way where I was frozen. Even my voice didn't work and I started to rebuke in the name of jesus in my concience mind since my voice wouldn't work. My voice came back quickly and I started to rebuke it aloud and the thing left quickly.

Sounds like a minor stroke. You need to see your doctor, J4E.

(Or preferably, don't.)

Sleep paralysis can be confusing, but is treatable. And no demons are involved you backwoods hillbilly.

Cool. Whatever you're on, halve it or double it, k?

Actually that sounds like sleep paralysis, loss of muscle tone and hallucinations during the onset of, or after, sleep. COmpletely harmless.

King Duncan

You had a SEIZURE.

Aye yi yi...look up sleep paralysis one of these days, okay?

9/11/2007 5:21:19 PM

I think I'm pissed off with the individual who thawed this one out.

Well, hell yeah,a loud, silent rebuke always works on me when I'm trying to stuff a good Christian into my freezer

Another fundie freaking out over sleep paralysis?

I've never had sleep paralysis but I've read about it and this sounds like it.

10/19/2008 3:48:41 AM

Definitely sounds like sleep paralysis - I suffered it quite a lot until I found out what it was and learned how to deal with it. No demons involved!

10/19/2008 7:17:19 AM

Ummm... Don't you want to turn the demons? Because rebuking is what evil alignments do.

12/21/2011 4:46:30 PM

Did you ever consider the fact that you might have had laryngitis?

12/21/2011 4:48:30 PM

Crimson Lizard

I'm afraid that never happened, J4E.

Lying for jebus or delusional... and I'm not sure which is worse.

rubber chicken

You'd be better off as an athiest because they are never attacked by demons.

This is called sleep paralysis. I suffer from it frequently myself and yes, it is very frightening. Thankfully, it is also treatable. Talk to your doctor.

Sleep paralysis. Been there, done that. Ask your doctor if clonazepam is right for you!

Interesting note: Popo Bawa legends involve less the feeling of dread at some invisible presence while immobilized and more being attacked by a clearly visible creature that anally rapes men.

One is the product of a fevered mind, the other likely to be a distortion of events by a traumatized one.
