Quote# 76980

Creeping Sharia has come to a grocery aisle near you. Campbell’s soups have come out with a line of 15 halal-certified soups which comply with the dietary regulations of the two percent of the American population that follows Islam. The soups have been certified by the Islamic Society of North America, an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood whose cluster of 29 affiliated organizations - including ISNA - have a goal of “exterminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.”

ISNA was an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist-fund raising trial in history, the Holy Land Foundation trial. Well, nobody will be able to blame Campbell’s for not doing its part to cooperate with those who hate America and want to see her and her Constitution subverted and then wiped out altogether.

The next time you pop open a can of Campbell’s vegetarian soup, you’ll have the comfort of knowing that you are consuming jihadi-sanctified food.

To see where things are going with this whole halal business, look no further than the U.K., where grocers have gone whole-hog - pardon the expression - on offering halal meat but without telling anybody about it.

The largest supermarket chains in Britain are selling lamb and chicken which come from animals which have been slaughtered in the Islamic way. Even fast-food joints like Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Subway are using halal meat, but they aren’t telling their customers about it either. Domino’s, for instance, has been serving halal chicken for 10 years in 580 outlets across the fruited U.K. plan. Folks in hospitals, schools, and pubs across the U.K. have been eating food that has first been blessed in the name of the demon-god Allah but know nothing about it.

Big fail: thinking Dominoes chicken has been near an actual chicken...

Halaal food is basically like Kosher food. As little blood as possible and no offending contamination by taboo foods. It's not going to de-christianise you.
Then again, you are an arsehole bigot so who cares what you think, besides others like you.

Catering to a 2% minority means a 2% rise in sales. If you don't like that, you should be railing against unrestricted capitalism, not the people it's serving. Oh, but you can't, can you, because you've been raised to believe unfettered Capitalism is the American Way, given to you by Jesus himself to make your nation strong so it can crush all them heathen foreigners, and that if only people stopped slapping all those rules on it that stop it from doing a few bad things then it'll naturally stop doing all bad things on its own!

So you have to try to suppress the minority you don't like by other means even as you support the financial system that would treat them as your equals*. All that cognitive dissonance must be uncomfortable.

*admittedly so that it can exploit you all equally, but that's another matter.

I have to say that I agree with this guy's contempt for halal, but not for the same reasons.

Animals killed for halal/kosher meat are basically cut and left to bleed to death. Forgive me for empathising with my food, but no animal should have to suffer like that.

Halal chickens at my local supermarket look like this:

Sneaky, huh?

10/19/2010 2:57:18 AM

...soup without meat is terrorists sanctioned?

And who gives a shit if a soup company or any other private business wants to cater to a certain type of customer (although I personally think you're a paranoid fucktard who's making shit up).

A couple of years ago, a few fundies took offense to the concept of kosher salt and began selling Christian salt, which, unlike kosher, had nothing special about it to distinguish it from other kinds of salts. I'm reminded of that lunacy here.

Whatever happened to that Christian salt?

10/19/2010 3:35:13 AM

Bryan, do you ever eat anything labelled "Suitable for vegetarians"? (Hint: yes.) Do you think that doing so is somehow supporting the militant fringe of PETA? (Hint: no.)

So how in the nine interpretations of bloody fuck do you think halal foods are going to support terrorism?

10/19/2010 4:11:09 AM

A variation of the Kosher Nostra canard. They just CERTIFIED that it's halal to attract new customers. Nothing more, nothing else.

10/19/2010 4:17:15 AM

Creeping Sharia'? Is that any worse than creeping Christian theocracy?

10/19/2010 5:37:21 AM

Oh no! They're making a soup option for Muslims! It's the end of civilization as we know it! When you wake up tomorrow everyone will be wearing burqas and praying toward mecha. Why, I remember when they introduced kosher meats into the market everyone went out and got a circumcision.

10/19/2010 5:57:12 AM

This is similar to that stupid "The 'Kosher Symbol' Means You're Paying A Tax To Some Nefarious Secret Jewish Cabal" chesnut that's been floating around...Same crap, different group.

Too little, too late! We Martians have been slowly taking over the world through the candy isle for nearly a century! Whom do you think you have been supporting every time you buy a bag of M&Ms? HAHAHAHAHA! We're very close now. Phase 2 starts soon, maybe this Halloween, maybe next year. Wouldn't you like to know? HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA! HAHA (cough, cough).

10/19/2010 6:24:31 AM

Doubting Thomas

Who cares if it's halal or not? It doesn't mean you're going to turn into a Muslim chanting "Death to America!" while holding up an AK-47 if you eat it.

10/19/2010 6:26:24 AM

Mister Spak

You are righter than you know. There was a submission a few years ago claiming halloween candy had been magiced by witches to do something horrible but unspecified.

10/19/2010 6:40:44 AM

Maybe halal is like the Eucharist--when the magic mumbo-jumbo is said over it, it becomes the flesh of Allah. Domino's is selling human flesh! PIZZA IS PEOPLE!!!

Doctor Fishcake

"lol is it possible to have Halal vegetarian dishes?"

Yep, absolutely - I've seen Quorn products that were certified Halal.

10/19/2010 6:50:27 AM

Just for reference, here's the differences between halal and kosher:

The big ones seem to be
* Some forms of halal allowing mixing meat and dairy, and eating shellfish. Kosher doesn't allow either.
* There's no concept of "kosher for Passover" under halal, since Muslims don't celebrate Passover.
* Different blessings are said.
* Kosher also has rules about cooking equipment and eating utensils that don't have analogs under halal.

There's some others, but they're very technical and would only be of interest to rabbis or imams.

It looks like, with the exception of the blessing, if its kosher, it's probably halal. The reverse is not necessarily true, since kosher is stricter.

10/19/2010 7:26:20 AM

If they don't tell anyone the meat is halal, how do the Muslims who actually want it know it's there? Do they get secret ads from underground marketing campaigns? I mean, Kosher stuff is all marked with that 'K', and from what I've read about the soups, it's a small line with a special notation that it's Halal.

Maybe you're just too much of an idiot to notice the details.

"Creeping Sharia has come to a grocery aisle near you." tl;dr...

Coming home from the pub, I've eaten kebabs. From Halal takeaways. A few months back, I was in London, en route to visiting a friend in Surrey. On the ten-minute stop the coach made in Golders Green (the main Jewish community there), and as I was hungry, I went to a deli a stone's throw away from the bus station and bought a salt beef sandwich from there (very tasty too!).

Said deli had on it's sign the words 'Kosher Glatt', with the symbol of the Court of the Chief Rabbi (Lord Sacks) stating it was approved as conforming to Jewish dietary laws.

I was baptised Church of England - until I became an Atheist in my later youth.

Now care to show me, in the statute book, where there's a law which states that I - an Atheist - can't partake of food prepared for people of different cultures? We've had Chinese & Indian takeaways in the UK for decades.

"* There's no concept of "kosher for Passover"

I read on the boxes of Rakusen's Crackers, and especially their best-selling Matzos, 'Not Kosher for Passover'. They're available in most supermarkets here in the UK. Rakusen's is a brand thst's been around for a century. Also on the boxes it says 'Made from the finest English wheat flour'. I buy their Matzos because they're big, satisfying & very tasty with various toppings. Especially their herb-flavoured crackers.

A Gentile (and an Atheist too) eating Kosher food for Jews. As I do with Halal kebabs, on the way home from the pub. Now what part of that doesn't Bryan Fischer understand?

10/19/2010 8:16:13 AM

In the UK we also willingly eat Turkish kebabs and Indian Food, I should imagine that is Halah meat too..We know but we don't care.
In supermarkets and corner shops we have Polish and South African products too. Are we being taken over by Poles?

10/19/2010 8:18:37 AM

Yama the Space Fish

Maybe Campbells should market soup made from liquefied and fermented dead rotting pig, blood, and chunks of roadkill. Mmm mmm mmm mmm good. And utterly not halal.

10/19/2010 8:27:10 AM

I'm against halal (and kosher) meat not because I'm afraid of becoming a muslim (or jew) for eating it but because it's an unnecessarily cruel way of killing animals for food.

10/19/2010 9:22:47 AM

Why am I picturing "creeping Sharia" as resembling the carpet-remnant alien from "The Creeping Terror," which was so clumsy its victims had to help wriggle into its mouth?

10/19/2010 10:10:11 AM

Wait. Why does an American even care? The halal products are for the Canadian market.

Its not even being sold in the US.
