Nobody can eat, wear, drink or answer your prayer.
Besides, if god was going to intervene I would think he would've stopped the hurricane to begin with.

Yeah, because any actual material help you could give for their very material problems couldn't possibly be beat by just wishing really, really hard that someone else will help them for you.

Okay, I'll buy my food and you pray for yours, then let's see who starves first.

"... your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." (Matthew 6:7-8)
Prayer is for yourself not for God to hear. He already knows what to do so stfu and do something more useful.

If your God is omnipotent why do you need to pray? Surely he is already aware of the problem? Is he like prayer-powered or something? Maybe they should hold a prayer-a-thon in order to raise enough prayers to save the victims. Or maybe he's just a jerk who won't help unless you beg him.

I pray that you give me yor money.
10/7/2008 1:52:05 PM
Must be Monopoly money.
10/7/2008 2:10:58 PM
In that case, I would like I would like to propose a transaction...I will pray for you if you give me money.
10/7/2008 2:19:26 PM
the hand that helps is better than the one who prays.
10/7/2008 3:03:38 PM
Disgusting. Is there actually any better reason than attitude like this for getting rid of religions? Well, christianity at least.
10/7/2008 3:07:38 PM
Tell that to the people put out by Hurricane Katrina, or the survivors of 9/11, fuckwit!

"Your prayers are worth far more than all the money you can give."
Must be broke.
10/7/2008 5:34:18 PM
One pair of hands working is worth more then 1000 pairs clasped in prayer.
All my observations of the word have proven to me that nothing gets done unless somebody does it, praying does nothing.

A couple of years ago I took our son to midnight mass (that's protestant high church mass, not catholic mass) on xmas eve. No, we're not xian - I was, nominally, as a youngster because that's the way things were back then, but I became an atheist after a) deciding that the cult is a crutch for those who don't have the gumption to take responsibility for their own lives and b) reading the babble. However, I wanted our son to see what it was all about...
The vicar (a woman) expressed just this sentiment in her sermon, saying that our prayers were worth far more to the suffering in Africa than any other help anyone might give.
I wanted to slap her, hard. My son (now 13) was also disgusted, and now wants nothing to do with any religion.
These people dig their own graves, don't they? It's almost as thought they don't want to persuade anyone to join them.

Yes. But are they tax deductible?
10/7/2008 7:18:58 PM
One dollar to a worthy charity will do far more than a million hands clasped in prayer.
10/7/2008 8:08:32 PM
Glurge-y, but not really fundie.
And isn't there something in the Bible about it being worthless to tell a starving man "Go with God" but giving him no food or drink?
7/2/2012 7:52:05 AM
Give a starving man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day.
Give a starving man a prayer, and he'll call you a cunt

Father Heathen wins.
7/2/2012 11:26:01 AM
Cheaper too. Why, it's like doing nothing, since we pray for ourselves constantly anyway and God always listens to me. Gosh, I'm so wore out saving everybody, I need some cake!

a small amount donated by many many people provides a useful amount to spend. Dont diminish the value of any donation.

I told my landlord what you said......he kicked me out anyway....
