Quote# 7700

I keep hearing the term "biblical proportions" to describe all of this....Over and over.....By the secular media too. I just find that interesting.

yeah, it's called a figure of speech. take an english course and learn more.

Besides, the half-wits don't read other books so how are they going to know what Brobdingnagian means?

Yes, things are occurring in proportion to books.

Well bearing in mind that the Bible has a knack for exaggerating things a little, as most myths do...

biblical- adjective. Used to draw comparisons with events of great magnitude.
Just like the fictional events that appear all the time in the Bible, like talking snakes, massive slaughter, people turning into pillars of salt, building towers that piss God off. The kinds of shit nobody sees in today's world.

because of the hyper-exaggeration endemic throughout the tract? (ie "lying")

Caustic Gnostic

Usually refers to disasters in which whole populations are wiped out...?

Of course, billions of years, billions of galaxies, cosmic collisons, supernovas, black holes, etc make even the most overblown story of "biblical proportions" seem like a bar scrap in an Eastern European village.

Funny how your God had the same limits on his knowledge that the people who worshipped him had. He didn't even know the shape of the planet he himself created...not really an "intelligent" designer was he?

Don't be silly! He made map scrolling in the 2.0 version, when we developed sea travel, and got around to a 3D model just in time for us to develop space travel.

It's a polite term for Bullshit Big.

Darwin's Lil' Girl

I keep hearing the term "idiot" used to describe fundies...Over and over...By Christians, too. I just find that interesting.

Quantum Mechanic

" I just find that interesting."

I'm quite certain you are alone.

Fundies often have a difficult time grasping the concepts of "fiction" and "metaphor."

Rapture Ready. Not familiar with figures of speech apparently

At work we use the term "crystal ball", to describe how we judge how many trailers to book for the next day... Over and over... As Swedes, we are mostly secular and don't believe in myths or fortune-telling or religions. It's just a figure of speech, not particularly interesting at all.
