If what Ken Ham says is true, then we shouldn't be able to see the majority of stars in the sky.
Anyways, light-year means how far light travels in a year, so it would still take millions of years for the light of the stars to reach our eyes.

Kenny is so smart. He knows that light year is a measure of distance. Too bad he didn't no it is the distance light travels in a year. I guess he will learn that when he goes on to the fourth grade.

I first learnt the definition and meaning of a light year aged 7.
This is not an exaggeration, although I accept I am something of an exception. But still... groan.

yes children , put on your Bible glasses and you can see things very far away ...
Luckily Ken can cite the Starlight synchrony convention (or something) that shows light coming toward earth is instantaneous , while light going elsewhere travels at 1/2 of light speed thus averaging out. It took a phd astrophysics guy to work that one out.

> When we hear the term light-year, we need to realize it is not a measure of time but a measure of distance, telling us how far away something is.
Exactly. Now let us consult the dictionary to see just how long a light-year is:
"A unit of length (abbreviation ly; equal to just under 10 trillion kilometres (1016 metres)) equal to the distance light travels in one year; used to measure extremely large distances."
As you can see, that renders this statement:
> Distant stars and galaxies might be millions of light-years away, but that doesn’t mean that it took millions of years for the light to get here, it just means it is really far away!
Invalid. Millions of light-years means it takes millions of years for light to travel that distance.
Unless, of course, God was feeling deceitful and put that light there to fool scientists into thinking that the universe is 14 billion years old.

Does the Bible give any dates?
If a galaxy is millions of light-years away, that DOES mean that it took millions of years for the light to get here. That is exactly what a light-year is, stupid!

Ken, you are a retard. Every time I see something you have said, I have to remind myself that you are not a small child, but a grown man who believes in myths and does everything he can to promote the idiotic ideas ancient people had about the world. Go fuck yourself and go live in a cave, where you will find the amount of science you desire.
