Quote# 77044

They accuse of us being Nazis, and Obama's got a health care logo that's right out of Adolf Hitler's playbook. Now, what are the similarities between the Democrat Party of today and the Nazi Party in Germany? Well, the Nazis were against big business -- they hated big business. And of course we all know that they were opposed to Jewish capitalism. They were insanely, irrationally against pollution. They were for two years mandatory voluntary service to Germany. They had a whole bunch of make-work projects to keep people working, one of which was the Autobahn. They were against cruelty and vivisection of animals, but in the radical sense of devaluing human life, they banned smoking. They were totally against that. They were for abortion and euthanasia of the undesirables, as we all know, and they were for cradle-to-grave nationalized healthcare.

This is why I have always bristled when I hear people claim conservativism gets close to Nazism. It is liberalism that's the closest you can get to Nazism and socialism. It's all bundled up under the socialist banner. There are far more similarities between Nancy Pelosi and Adolf Hitler than between these people showing up at town halls to protest a Hitler-like policy that's being heralded like a Hitler-like logo.

The Nazis were against big business?
Well, maybe...if you don't count Krupp Steel, which provided them with guns, planes and tanks, or I.G. Farben, who helped them with that mass execution thing by providing Zyklon B. And Volkswagon, who made some jeeps.
Right, countries building giant war machines really hate big business.

Holy fuck! I used to think Limbaugh at least pretended to be sane. Anyone know if the Flush Rush Quarterly is still around. Look like I need to re-sub.

Most of what I wanted to say has already been covered, but...

"They were insanely, irrationally against pollution."

So you won't mind if I build a 19th century type blast furnace behind your house, dump mercury in your water supply and bury nuclear waste in your backyard?

"They had a whole bunch of make-work projects to keep people working, one of which was the Autobahn."

And FDR had dam-building and rural areas electrification programs, your point?
Seriously, two words: New Deal.

10/22/2010 12:46:34 PM

Insanely, irrationally against pollution, huh?

Care to elaborate on the better aspects of fucking POLLUTION, there Rush?

10/22/2010 12:47:41 PM

You make the Nazis sound awesome! Keeping everyone working? Against cruelty of animals and smoking and pollution? Healthcare for everyone? Fucking hells yes!

10/22/2010 1:05:54 PM

...Obama's got a health care logo that's right out of Adolf Hitler's playbook.

No similarity here at all, no Sirree...

Obviously the Nazi eagle is derived from the US one, what's interesting is that it's holding a cross rather than an olive branch.

10/22/2010 1:19:47 PM

Hitler was all for curing everyone and anyone. Huh? I didn't know that. How come some 6-7 million undesirable people ended up in the gas-chambers or was worked/starved to death?
Liberal equals freedom, i.e. there is no "undesirables" at all.

The similarities between Democrats and Nazis? None, as far as I can remember.
The similarities between the right wing party of the National Socialist German Workers' Party and the Republican Party of the US of A is much more prominent. Both disliked the Theory of Evolution, both disliked homosexuals, both disliked "niggers", both disliked "commies", both disliked abortions, both disliked anyone who didn't adhere to their religion and world-view.
Nazis were extreme Conservatives, VERY extreme Conservatives.

Where did you study world history, Rushie?

The Nazis hated big business? The regime that assimilated big businesses into the government itself?

10/22/2010 2:43:35 PM

If the Nazi's were against big business, why was Henry Ford such a big fan of theirs?

10/22/2010 3:42:05 PM

This person (is he supposed to be famous?) seems so foculsed on Hitler that it's positively unhealthy - mentally. Perhaps President Obama shouldbe including special provisions in his healthcare plans for lunatic asylums to take care of such poor bewildered souls

10/22/2010 3:43:23 PM

Tolpuddle Martyr

Don't you call my country with it's working public health care system Nazi you piece of shit!

10/22/2010 3:44:08 PM

"They had a whole bunch of make-work projects to keep people working, one of which was the Autobahn."

Or, did Hitler take a page from FDR's plan.

10/22/2010 4:29:59 PM

I always thought the Krupps/Daimler-Benz/Henschel/MAN and Porsche 'Tiger Tanks' and 'King Tigers' were very well respected by friend and foe alike in WWII. In fact the 'King Tiger' was damn-near impregnable, as I understand.

I never knew that those huge private companies were hated by Hitler though.

Israel requires its citizens to sign up for the armed forces. ZOMG!!! THEY'RE NAZIS, TOO?!?!?!?

Obama is also giving Jewish people proper healthcare too you know.

Allegory for Jesus

when asked for further comment, Limbaugh stated the following: "Hitler Hitler Nazi Obama Hitler Socialism Hitler Obamacare Holocaust Hitler Hitler Jews".

The only possible response to such a performance was "Brilliant!". He was promptly returned to the rabid wombat cage where he would begin preparation for the next day's radio program. Conservative talk radio hosts the world over waited in anticipation to see what discovery Limbaugh's novel combination of diabetes, encephalitis, and syphilis would lead him to next.

My mother, a right-wing Christian fundie, used to listen to Limbaugh, but even she can't stomach him anymore. She may be conservative, but she's not crazy.

10/22/2010 6:51:13 PM

Hey Rush you know what OTHER nation has mandatory military service?

10/22/2010 7:37:48 PM

I don't think that bloated bag of lard believes one word of the bullshit he spews, the problem is there are millions of his ignorant retard fan base that do.
Thanks for keeping them stupid, Rush.

10/22/2010 9:08:28 PM

This Hitler/Nazi godwin is getting boring.

10/23/2010 12:10:28 AM

Professor M

If you had to summarize the policies of Nazism in three points?

1) Support for "the proud and upstanding captains of industry" (a.k.a. big business)

2) Social conservatism (a.k.a. Christian supremacy, heterosexual supremacy, male supremacy, white supremacy)

3) Willingness to use violence to back up points 1 and 2.

Really -- combine those three, and you have fascism. Period.

10/23/2010 3:11:38 AM

...Hitler saved big business in Germany. That was, like, a huge part of the platform, promising to do that, and the Nazis actually did it, pulled their country out of the Great Depression and the Weimar slump and got industry pumping away with all those huge corporate money-pumps churning. That's his hate now?

So, I guess he loved Gypsies?

10/23/2010 3:40:23 AM

1. Logo? Well shit then all logos are out of the Nazi Play Book.

2. Nazis were pro big business. Its hard to run a freaking world war and kill millions of people with cottage industry. I know the Japanese got far with their bullshit technology but they took one hell of an arse kicking in the end. Mass production is needed for modern war and the Nazis were all about that.

3. Capitalism was termed by Louise Blanc. And it applied to the East India Companies and various european market powers. Not jewish IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM. That's communism you are thinking about there.

4. The nazis were also against abortions for human beings. They didn't consider the rest to be humans and saw no difference between spaying their dogs. Hitler was an animal lover but most germans still experimented on animals because "shit's cheap to experiment on".

5. You know the british also had conscription and they were punching germans for 3 years before you guys showed up? Not to mention Holland. And lest we forget... ISRAEL themselves. Your version of service is basically "all kids help out the elderly as part of their education".

Rush is no idiot. I don't buy for a moment that he actually believes any of this crap. What he is, however, is a lying demagogue who knows exactly what his audience wants to hear and knows how to say it in the most inflammatory manner possible.

The Nazis were a third-way movement and do not fall anywhere on the traditional left-socialist/right-capitalist axis. People need to realize that the world is not made up of black-and-white and the shades of gray in between. Metaphorically speaking, there are other colors out there as well -- colors which simply fall outside such a paradigm.

Speaking as an old-school conservative, I can honestly say that Rush Limbaugh and his ilk are a large part of what is wrong with America today. They do not speak for all conservatives.
