Attention atheists: Please get a life!
More evidence that atheists quite often tend to be white, unmarried, socially challenged nerds! An atheists' meeting was organized in the United States concerning the future direction of the atheist movement and 370 people attended. The New York Times described the attendees as "The largely white and male crowd — imagine a Star Trek convention, but older..."[1] For more information, please see Atheism appears to be significantly less appealing to women
Atheists, please consider the advice that William Shatner gave to Trekkies in a comedy skit: Get a life! VIDEO

That was a pretty hilarious skit. Now Andrew should take Will's advice.

You know Conservative, even if you're right - even if it's true that the large majority (hell, I'll go one step further and say 100 freakin' percent!) of atheists turn out to be white, unmarried, socially challenged nerds, it still wouldn't prove what you so desperately want to prove - yourself right (you're not) and us wrong (we aren't). Sorry.

Edit: I saw too late that it wasn't Andy who posted this.

Calling someone a nerd is only an effective insult if you're not a nerd, Andy...and you're the nerdiest motherfucker I've ever laid eyes on.

Why is this effeminate corpse telling atheists to get a life?

"Atheists, please consider the advice that William Shatner gave to Trekkies in a comedy skit: Get a life!"

And if you like taking what you see on a screen literally, Andy Schaftafly, then consider this (emphasis added):

Computer: 'What is Kiri-kin-tha's First Law of Metaphysics?'

Spock: 'Nothing unreal exists.'

Computer: 'Correct.'

-"Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home"

'I'm laughing at the "superior intellect".'

-James T. Kirk, "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"

'Open your mind.'

-Kuato, "Total Recall"

Ooh, let me fill out the questionnaire!

Atheist? Agnostic, actually, but to you it's much the same thing. I say "non-theist".
White? Hahahaa, noooo. Not even.
Unmarried? I'm 19. Way too young by my personal standards - and I'm not even sure if I ever want to. So there!
Socially challenged? Nah.
Nerd? And proud of it.
Male? Wrong chromosome.

So, to recap, I fit one and a half out of your six "atheist" characteristics. Fail.

P.S. Anon-e-moose, you win some kind of award for the Kiri-kin-tha's First Law of Metaphysics quote. Qapla'!

"Calling someone a nerd is only an effective insult if you're not a nerd, Andy...and you're the nerdiest motherfucker I've ever laid eyes on."

With my being an enthusiast of all things Sci-Fi, I consider the appelation 'Nerd' to be a compliment. And with my interest in computers, I'm a 'Geek', and I know it. So what? As for my passion for anime & manga, I wear the badge of 'Otaku' with pride.

As I've seen on occasion here in FSTDT, religious freaks object to the term 'Fundie'. After all - take the 'Fun' out of the equation, what is left? Ergo, the potential death cult that is Ruptured Retards. QED.

And of course, as proved by the likes of everyone on Ruptured Retards (and similar forums/sites), Fred Phelps & his Westboro Baptist Church, and above all Andy Schaftafly, they put the Mental in Right-wing Fundamentalist Christianity.

Unlike 'Geek', 'Otaku' and 'Nerd', 'Fundie'? A name not to be proud of, methinks.

@Chatvert

Most kind. Live long and prosper.

@Brianisha

"Bill Gates gets all the women........must mean hes a christian then......."

He's married to Melinda Gates... uses most of his billions (via founding Microsoft & inventing computer OSs) to fund his Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to do good works throughout the world... he's an Atheist.

Andy Schaftafly... single... not a multi-billionaire... Christian... something's wrong here. Go figure...!

BTW, evidence that there's a typo in the Bible? It should say 'The Geek shall inherit the Earth'. Proof? Bill Gates. I rest my case...!

Uh, Latina, female and atheist. I'm single, but I'm 26... and yeah, I'm nerdy, I guess, so...?

Actually, that comment is incorrectly attributed to Schlafly. It was actually written by fellow Conservapedia sysop Ken Demyer (aka Conservative). The irony of it being, he's white, unmarried and edits CP for up to 30 hours a day from his mother's basement.

Argumentum ad 'I get laid more than you do'? That's a new one.

Lucifer's Penis

Hmmmm... This argument might work if your intended audience are high school jocks, chavs, fratboys and other insecure types of teenagers. Otherwise, I'm almost positive that Bill Gates gets laid far more than some conservative crank who types out mentally ill rants on his mentally ill blog.

Attention Andrew Schlafly: Please get a brain!

Your mother never used hers.
Too bad she never got an abortion, either.

Am I an atheist? Yes, well, no, I'm nontheistic, but it's close. Am I white? Yes. Am I unmarried? I'm divorced, unwillingly, I might add. Am I socially challenged? Yes, but I have Asperger's Syndrome, so fuck you. Am I a nerd? Yes, if you're implying that I like to learn and not be ignorant of things, which is why I eventually rejected the christianity I once so ardently defended. Do I have a life? Depends, I've been spending way too much damn time trying to get my ex-wife back, but that has nothing to do with me not believing in some fairy tale, nonexistent god. Am I a Trekkie? No, I hate Star Trek. Stargate is much better.

11/11/2010 5:49:02 PM

He might kind of have a point about the people who that particular atheist convention attracted. They needed to be people who had nothing better to do than go to an atheist convention, and had the money to go.

But you can not generalize a belief system from a single event. By his logic there are no female catholics, and no catholic has kids, just look at the clergy.
