No, that's just the impression one gets if one spends all one's time talking to the Rapture Ready brigade.

"I base this wild brain fart on the fact that I'm a big smarty scierntest."
They should just say, "I'm a big, thick retard. Please do humanity a favour and kill me and turn me into fertiliser."

Ah, yes, the ridiculous thread about the door. Assumptions of the flood even make their way in there because it was buried. Sometimes I really worry about these people and just how far they'd go to prove how much they love their bloodthirsty god.

Nope, the average intelligence hasn't gone down. Idiots only have more ways to broadcast their thoughts to the general public.

It is interesting to note that not all that long ago (less than 200 years) the only path to higher education for anyone in the western world was through the church. To be a trained academic you had to agree to be a priest. This meant the greatest minds of several generations were indeed priests or at least had priestly training and education.
This also led to record numbers of atheist, agnostic and lapsed priests.
In more recent times, with the opening of secular opportunities for education, the average intelligence of the priesthood has diminished greatly.

I agree that it seems people are getting less smart, but the cause is religion.

That's because you spend all your time with your fellow fundies.

Well, in YOUR case....
People, as far as I've read, are actually getting smarter. Something to do with increased environmental complexity and access to more nutritional forms of food (FIRE)

I believe that the human race has probably lost brain capacity over the centuries, due to the curse of sin.
I never understood how sin is supposed to be able to wreck things like that. Are there some sort of sin particles floating around the universe and interfering with normal matter? Or maybe sin is actually anti-matter? Or maybe it's just a made up concept that primitive people used in an attempt to keep everyone in line.
There are still a lot of very intellignet people in this world, but I believe the average intellect has probably declined significantly.
And your sample for this is? Using members of RR doesn't tell you anything about the general population as it's too condensed of a demographic. That's data gathering 101, first freaking day.

The last post in that thread is a good example of the decline of intelligence, at least on Rapture Ready.
"Archaelology is indeed interesting.
I wish Turkey would allow a dig (through ice if necessary) to find another door: The door to Noah's Ark. There might even be an Ark attached."

The data disagrees. We have to keep raising the bar on IQ every year, as the average is constantly increasing but we need to mark the average as 100. People are getting smarter, at every level of society. You fail.

After all, how do you account for the fact that Dumbya was voted in -
Twice? The mirror in the Hubble Space Telescope is like a cracked & dirty dental mirror, compared to that possessed by everyone in Ruptured Retards. Proof? (emphasis added):

Actually, the fossil record shows hominid brain capacity increasing over the centuries. You have researched the fossil record, haven't you?
Oh who am I kidding?

In that case, I advise you to stop going to your regular doctor and instead visit someone who uses 14th-century medical techniques. And move out of your house and into one built with 14th-century architecture. People were SOOOO much smarter back then, so you'll be better off.

So there were astrophysicists, evolutionary biologists, and computer engineers in ancient times? I mean, it's not like we have those today since we've gotten increasingly stupider because of sin...oh wait.

See, I think that we can blame the decline of overall human intellect in this country not on sin, but on things like Jersey Shore, Dancing with the Stars, Real Housewives of Wherever, and whatever the next show is where they follow a celebrity around for no apparent reason.
As for sin? Well, murder is a sin. Lots of murders happen during wars, and wars have always been a boon to human knowledge and technology, if for no other reason than for 'us' having to come up with something awesome before 'they' do.
