And then Jesus will make us all into fairies and angels and we will go to magic fucking la-la land and I am completely sane yessiree no problems with my brain no sir no doubt.

Allow me to use a tactic you love so much. I call it the reverse Pascal's wager.
10/28/2010 3:59:38 AM
Anti-evolutions, climate change deniers, teabaggers, war-mongers, racists, anti-abortionists, theocrats, gun-nuts, Wal-Mart shoppers: All the same baby boomer trash.
10/28/2010 4:06:00 AM
Then we don't have to worry about the deficit or about "protecting" marriage either, right? Oh, but ... all together now ... those things are different.
10/28/2010 4:07:33 AM
Does that mean if I don't clean my bathroom, then Jesus will come do it for me? Sweet.
10/28/2010 4:13:38 AM
textbook example of why fundies are bad for the planet.
10/28/2010 4:17:57 AM
However, he gave us one in which we have to live for sure. Don't think you're more intelligent than Jesus.
10/28/2010 4:18:17 AM
Why not start with Genesis, where God tells Adam to take care of Eden?
Oh, wait, because that wouldn't agree with you.
10/28/2010 4:44:31 AM
It's weird to me that Christians have no qualms about destroying their heavenly father's greatest work.
10/28/2010 4:52:21 AM
So, you would continue to just shit where you eat, huh?

Imagine spending days and even months making something for your child. Carefully crafting it, making it perfect, painting and everything.
Imagine giving it to said child and watch him drag it behind him, throwing it in the mud, abusing it, peeling the paint off.
Then imagine your response when the child says "but my daddy will just give me a new one. Any day now!"
10/28/2010 5:25:18 AM
Yeah, why should I clean my house? It is just going to be torn down one day.
10/28/2010 5:48:48 AM
I read about the afterlife
Then I'd inform her about how the book revelations is really an allegory of the persecution of Christians by the Roman Empire.
10/28/2010 5:54:29 AM
So true. They love using it when they aren't the ones being put out, but the moment they are the ones being asked to DO something, suddenly the price is just simply too high...
Just proof that they cling to their faith because it allows them to be as lazy and apathetic as they want. Hell, the moment one of them stands up to actually DO something to better the world as a whole (And not by banning gay marriage or abortion, either) that person is almost invariably shunned. Sad, really.
10/28/2010 6:04:29 AM
You litter a lot, don't you?
10/28/2010 6:14:26 AM
I know all-or-nothing bets are pretty exciting, but this might be the wrong time.
10/28/2010 6:22:41 AM
Sadly most of the political leaders of the far right, poised to take over congress, agree
Use up all the resources, before Jeebus comes back
Aren't waste, gluttony, and greed supposed to be sins as well?
10/28/2010 6:41:39 AM
We could recycle the bible and make even more re-usable bags. Well I guess we would be limited to garbage bags.
I make myself laugh.
Hey Julie. Jesus is as dead as Pericles. Get over it.
10/28/2010 6:58:48 AM
And this is why fundies are the scum of the Earth (literally!) Their entire agenda is based on destroying modern society by any means necessary. Since they have realized that they have no hope in destroying science and progress, they've decided that if they can't rule America and the world with an iron, theocratic fist, then no one can have the world to live in. Thus, their every action is based on destroying the natural environment, making it impossible for human beings to live at anything above the level of subsistence farming, so that education atrophies and they can control all humans forever more. Every move they make is part of an agenda to destroy modern life. That is not an exaggeration. That is a FACT. They are the biggest disgraces to humanity I have ever come across. Science has disproven their bullshit time and time again, on the Internet for everyone to see, no less. Thus, those who continue to spout such lies are completely without excuse. They are willfully ignorant, and as such, deserve the very hell which they threaten us with. When fundies are finally gone from the world, everyone else will celebrate.

"I would drop her off a Bible and tell her to read the book of Revelation if she thinks that she or anyone can 'save' the planet."
Why are you people unaware that simply because you happen to believe a fairy tale is true not everyone else does also?
10/28/2010 7:05:05 AM
That "the old things will no longer be remembered" element is particularly worrisome. (For the record, it seems to be connected with the idea of "God will wipe away every tear"--which sounds more like consoling and repair than infliction of amnesia.) If nothing of the past is remembered, if your memories are reset, then can it really be said that you are still you? Admittedly, I can't figure out what the difference between the mind and the soul is supposed to be, so this makes it even more irksome.
That such a reset is looked forward to also suggests an absolute dissatisfaction with...well...EVERYTHING about the physical world. Yet I cannot help but remember what Tertullian or Irenaeus (I forget which) had to say about Marcion's claim that the physical world and its creator were unalloyed evil, that a single wildflower should have proven otherwise to him. Where does such monstrous despair come from?
10/28/2010 7:22:05 AM
So, what's wrong with trying to preserve the planet in the meantime before Jesus comes back? After all, it might be a while. Oh, right, you somehow know for a fact that Jesus is coming back any day now.
10/28/2010 7:24:20 AM
My first thought was: "drop her off a Bible"?
My Bible is barely an inch high, why drop someone off something as low as that?
I'll keep using reusable bags, irregardless...
10/28/2010 7:29:16 AM
This actually pisses me off more than most things with fundies is that they basically don't care if the planet gets fucked over for the rest of us because they'll be in Heaven.
