You say that as if it were true in most cases, it's not. Gay or lesbian couples that want to adopt are, like straight couples trying to adopt, happy to get a kid regardless of it's gender. Adoption isn't like going to Wal-Mart, you don't get alot of oppurtunity to pick and choose.

The only reason it might seem otherwise it the irrefutable fact that the media, and the religious right, tend to play up and sensationalize stories of same sex molestation, many of which have, like the endemic pedophile priests, have only recently come to light many years after the majority of them occured.

Yeah, we talked about that guy in my human sexuality class. I think his brother ended up committing suicide, too - my prof seemed to think that there was something else running in the family, like that both the kids were developing schizophrenia or something like that.

Really? 0_o Wow. When I worked in Child and Family services we saw A LOT of sexually abused kids (1 is too many, I'm talking well into the hundreds). The majority of these kids were molested by their biological fathers/uncles. I can't recall a single case of a child being molested by a gay man.
