Quote# 77142

My years have taught me that the litmus test of a REAL Christian is marriage and birth control. Real Christians stay married till death and have as many children as God sends. They don't use birth control. If I see a person who calls themselves Christian and is divorced and remarried, I know that they are hypocrites. If I see a couple with no children because they use birth control, I know they have not God's Grace.

How many Christians like that do you know?

There are already too many little cunts running around on this planet of ours. Stop adding to the problem. The worst thing is that the worst people, like verdugo here, are the ones that procreate most when the reality is that they are the ones who should be sent into slavery to toil in our mines and factories until they are too old to work and are then killed and rendered to make other useful products. Come on people. You know it makes sense!

You can see when people use birth control? Wow, that's quite a skill

Doctor Whom

If I see a person who calls themselves Christian and is divorced and remarried, I know that they are hypocrites.

At least you're honest about what the Bible says about divorce. Most Christians weasel their way out of that part, while still demanding a literal interpretation of those parts that they like.

But why is that the litmus test? Here is what your Messiah (supposedly) said:

Mark 16:17-18: And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

What an idiot.

It's always telling, by the way, when even regular posters in a place like FreeRepublic are telling someone that they are a bit overboard in their views and their expression thereof. I personally tend to find that quite a bit amusing.

10/28/2010 4:08:24 AM

So, Pat Buchanan(no kids)is not Christian. Rush Limbaugh(thrice divorced, no kids)not christian. Ok, if you say so(I wonder, is he married?, and divorced?, and how many kids does he have?)

But if people who divorce and/or use birth control aren't Christians(TM) then surely that means that the US isn't a "Christian Country" as they keep insisting?

10/28/2010 4:16:50 AM

I noticed lately that there have been more 'reasonable' posters at FreiRepublik. I was honestly surprised.

Perhaps they are being more conciliatory and more showing of empathy because they have been denied their worldly power?

10/28/2010 5:06:47 AM

I read about the afterlife

Real Christians also don't go to the doctors.

...and have as many children as God sends.

You'd think your god wouldn't be bothered by some latex and a few hormones, but then again, for an all-powerful being, he sure isn't... oh, what's the word? Powerful!

"If I see a person who calls themselves Christian and is divorced and remarried, I know that they are hypocrites."

The "bible belt" in the U.S. has the highest rates of divorce in the whole country. Globally, the U.S. also has very high levels of (amongst many other social indicators) divorce.

So, whilst I don't agree with your reasoning, I agree that many people who call themselves "Christian" are hypocrites. I bet you're one too.

My years have taught me that the litmust test of a REAL christian is that they are FUCKING MORONS.

How may christians like that do you know?

If I see a person who calls themselves Christian and is divorced and remarried, I know that they are hypocrites.

I love how "real" Christians never make mistakes and then try to make them right. Instead they choose to have two people suffer for years and years until at least one of them dies.

It's that stupid rule (even divorced you are still married) that my mother uses as to why she's never looked for someone after she divorced my father.

It's a STUPID rule. It makes no sense.

But no. She lives by it. Gave up an chance on meeting a nice guy because of the damn RC church.

Another reason I gave up on them.

If I see a person who calls themselves Christian...I know that they are hypocrites.

How many Christians like that do you know?

All of them.

Funny that if you ask each Christian what a real Christian believes, it always matches what they themselves believe.

And a hearty FUCK YOU to verdugo for thinking that other people's family planning is any of his business.

All of the christians i personally know think your school of thought is stupid.

When we're discussing majority, everyone counts, when it's beliefs, only I count, when it's persecution? we make up numbers.

Jesus didn't say anything about birth control, probably because it was and always has been an accepted part of life.

Ah, the Quiverful movement. Breed your woman until she dies from it.

Blech.

One of the problems with the world is that there are an infinite number of definitions of a "real christian". But you are the one that truly figured it out, huh?

10/28/2010 6:30:36 AM

Jezebel's Evil Sister

If I see a person who calls themselves Christian but is intrusive and judgmental, I know that they are hypocrites.

Then that means that the majority of people who call themselves Christians, especially those of the fundamentalist variety (including televangelists!) are not "real" Christians. How's that sugar on your porridge, Mr. Scotsman? As for their hypocrisy? You tell me nothing I don't already know!

"My years have taught me that the litmus test of a REAL Christian is marriage and birth control."

Duh. Obviously. It's not like real Christians should love everyone, be tolerant and compassionate and help the poor, sick, dying and less fortunate like that Jesus guy was babbling about all the time. What the hell would he know about being a real Christian anyway, right?

"Real Christians stay married till death and have as many children as God sends. They don't use birth control."

Let me guess, you're a Catholic. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. Those Freeper morons will never figure out you're one of them dirty, heathen Mary worshipers.

"If I see a person who calls themselves Christian and is divorced and remarried, I know that they are hypocrites."

Yes. Much better to stay with someone you can't stand than to do the reasonable thing and get the fuck away from one another. Your god will likely be sending you to Hell for some minor infraction you weren't even aware you'd committed anyway so you may as well start the punishment process while you're here.

"If I see a couple with no children because they use birth control, I know they have not God's Grace."

And how would you know this is the case? Maybe their infertile. Maybe they understand enough about human reproduction to avoid sex when she's most likely to conceive. Maybe they simply abstain from sex all together. Maybe you should mind your own fucking business.

Didn't Jesus tell you to mind your own fucking business instead of worrying about what everyone else is doing? You know, that whole "mote in your brother's eye; plank in your own" speech he gave. Not that any of you people actually listen to, follow or are generally even aware of what he supposedly said to begin with.

"How many Christians like that do you know? "

I don't know anyone like that, Christian or not.

10/28/2010 6:58:09 AM

Anon-e-moose

"How many Christians like that do you know?"

Oh, certainly of enough to know that in the Bible Belt states, the divorce rate is 1 in 2.

Oh, and isn't opposition to contraception purely Catholic doctrine? And I thought you Protestant fundies were supposed to oppose Popery in all it's vile forms, hmmmmmm? Seems what Martin Luther did via the Reformation, and all of Henry VIII's efforts in creating the Church of England were all for naught then.

So if you're basically trying to out-catholicise the Catholic church, why not just convert to Catholicism and have done with it? Enjoy your paradox.

Also, aren't you supposed to be in total agreement with divorce laws in the US? Romans 13:1-2 orders you to.

I love the smell of destroyed arguments in the morning. Smells like... victory.

I'd also like to hear their (especially verdugo's) opinion on the likes of Jimmy Swaggart & Ted Faggard. Especially in relation to a certain 7th Commandment.

Hey, for once I actually meet a Real Christian standard here. No divorce, check. No BC, check.

...of course, my partner is a woman. Makes both rather unnecessary.
