I like that you automatically associate "Hate Speech" with Christianity. The notion that "you will know them by their love" is such bullshit that even Christians are acknowledging it. Christianity is the religion of love in the same way that Islam is the religion of peace.

"Called her out" is kind of vague. I'm imagining you were less than perfectly civil to her at some point in the discussion.
Also, those statistics are bullshit on its face, if for no other reason than not everyone is involved with facebook actively.
But even if the statistic was true, you can't blame Facebook...it's the fault of people who can't manage their own marriages properly.
Facebook IS the devil, but not because you time lost 'stuck in the 19th century' type christians can't have your own silly little way.

That's what happens when you're dumb enough to constantly air out personal drama on a social networking site and then blame it for your problems.
If your "christian messages" include telling LGBQT people they're mentally ill, going to hell or should die (and it does), then too fucking bad.

You morons believe everything is an agent of satan and his world.
The internet is an agent of satan and his world. Get off it.

If you're connected in some way to the Christian mythology, no matter how loosely, then you will have insufficient power and will be unable to combat fiendish devices such as Facebook.
However, there is an extremely powerful skeptical viewpoint that I can heartily recommend to you that will make Facebook completely powerless. Atheism, try it, it gives you powers you can scarcely comprehend. Atheism knocks fundamental cultism into a cocked hat, pulverizes Facebook, makes a mockery of Rapture Ready etc.
Not only that, but atheism endorses love, compassion, tolerance, helping, peace, science, education, humanism, and most positive things. As well, it most often will oppose bigotry, cruelty, intolerance, violence, stupidity, greed, authoritarianism, lying, thuggery, deluding, bullying, distortion and spin, quote-mining, gullibility and most negative things.
Try it. No faith required. No reliance on belief. Just evidential truths. You'll never look back.

So we can't preach loving all people (the Christian message) as that would hate speech?
There is no definitive biblical calling out of homosexuality, not lease as that concept post-dates the gathering, editing and publishing of the bible by a massive margin.
Disapproval of homosexuality is not an intrinsic facet of Christianity., You may choose to believe that it is incompatible with Christianity if you wish, but that would not be a belief based in scriptures.

The telephone has brought more harm to my family in recent history than anything I can recall. Because of it my nephew is getting divorced. My oldest daughter is not speaking to me after I called her out over some questionable phone messages.
My nephew's lawyer told my sister that in a recent consensus of lawyers, telephones had played a role in 8 out of 10 divorce cases.
Gotta hate these new fangled inventions ruining our lives, right?
11/12/2010 6:04:14 AM
Your oldest daughter figured out you are a stupid bitch, 4given. Deal with it. Or ask your magic sky Jesus to turn her into a pillar of salt.

""They were going to take an aggressive stance against Hate Speach". Thus they basically announced the censorship of christian messages and posts is going to increase."
Out of the mouths of boobs.

Oh come on, Facebook is not THAT bad.
11/12/2010 6:29:06 AM
"'They were going to take an aggressive stance against Hate Speach'. Thus they basically announced the censorship of christian messages"
So you're saying that the Christian message really is hate-filled or are you just blaming Facebook for your family's problems?
11/12/2010 6:31:50 AM
I seriously doubt that Facebook alone is the cause for any divorce, but rather may have facilitated them if one spouse found out that the other was cheating via Facebook.
Thus they basically announced the censorship of christian messages and posts is going to increase.
Interesting that you would equate Christian messages with hate speech. But if they were going to censor Christian posts (highly unlikely since they'd lose most people on Facebook) it would be fine with me because I constantly see way too many pointless "If you love Jesus as your lord & savior, post this as your status" messages.
11/12/2010 6:39:06 AM
Sorry, how is software an 'Agent'?
Tool would be more appropriate, in reference to both the author AND FB.
11/12/2010 6:56:48 AM
"Thus they basically announced the censorship of christian messages and posts is going to increase."
Um...no, they basically announced that they would endeavor to be more sensative to online abuse and harrassment and more aggressive about keeping it off their site. Since most of the *REAL* Christians I know do not feel the need to subject others to such mistreatment, I doubt they have anything to worry about.
11/12/2010 7:11:31 AM
If Facebook can destroy your family, you have a shitty family. If you are censored on Facebook because your views are against their hate speech rules (and it is a private website - you wouldn't be allowed to shout at someone in their office, for example, same deal), then you have shitty views.
In short. You are a shitty person from a shitty family. And your religion, if you think its message is hateful, is shitty too.
11/12/2010 7:22:01 AM
"Facebook had played a role in 8 out of 10 divorce cases"
Citation fucking needed.
And maybe your oldest daughter isn't talking to you because you were preaching on shit that's harmless? Knowing where this came from, that definitely wouldn't surprise me.
11/12/2010 7:27:39 AM
At least you're accidentally honest by saying your food group of Christianity is "Hate
11/12/2010 7:57:18 AM
I would just love to know what the "questionable" posts were.
I think you should just lock her in her room. Forever. Dumb bitch.
11/12/2010 8:11:42 AM
As TB Tabby said, the fact that "4given" equates hate speech with Christianity is very telling. At least 4given is honest about it.
I wish these fundies would go back to Appalachia and play with their rattlesnakes.
11/12/2010 8:20:09 AM
Therefore "I Believe" it is an agent of satan and his world.
Really, what isn't a tool of Satan to these people? And interesting how 4given says the world is Satan's, when God created it for humans (according to Christian mythology).

"Facebook has brought more harm to my family in recent history than anything I can recall."
Lucky you, but it does seem as though your family must not have much going on.
"Because of it my nephew is getting divorced."
I bet there's more to it than just Facebook.
"My oldest daughter is not speaking to me after I called her out over some questionable posts."
I bet she's got a dozen good reasons not to speak to you.
"My nephew's lawyer told my sister that in a recent consensus of lawyers, Facebook had played a role in 8 out of 10 divorce cases."
I bet you, your sister, and/or the lawyer are making that up. Even if your statement is true, nobody gets divorced SOLELY over Facebook.
"Just this week Facebook announced their support of gay rights, stating "They were going to take an aggressive stance against Hate Speach". Thus they basically announced the censorship of christian messages and posts is going to increase."
So, your family is in turmoil because you can't hate enough on Facebook?
"Therefore "I Believe" it is an agent of satan and his world."
Therefore, I believe you are an overbearing, closed-minded waste of time, space and materials.
11/12/2010 8:38:20 AM
It's right here in my DFR (Deluded Fundie Revised) version of the Bible!
Revelation 13: ... And the Beast rose out of the sea, and it had over 500 million heads, and it's name was scrollface!
What else could it possibly mean?
11/12/2010 9:48:28 AM
FB may be a lot of bad things and ruining peoples lives (believe me i know ;-), but, it's completely voluntary and it's mainly up to yourself what kind of garbage you post in it. And no, last time i checked, Mark Zuckerberg hadn't started to grow horns...
Associating "hate speech" with christianity was probably the only thing correct here. Hate speech, no matter where or from whom it comes from, should not be tolerated.
