Indeed, God established kings to rule. We don't read that God wanted any kings wife to be declared a leader.

In any event, the Bible is clear that men are to lead in the political realm, military realm and church realm, in the home and elsewhere. The Bible is equally clear as to the duty of women, and it's different from that of men.

The Founders understood this which is partly why women were barred from holding political office and not allowed to vote.

When rebellious women began demanding to be allowed to vote, the fundamentalist pastors and churches stood firm against this because it was seen as a violation of biblical principle.

Of course, as with most things, what the church once stood firmly against, once it became acceptable in society at large, the church gradually dropped their standards and embraced the new way. We have seen this not only within the realm of women in politics and voting, but also in the realm of dress, divorce, "birth control", women pastors, homosexual pastors, viewing of movies, obeying the the law, etc.
