Last winter was pretty cold as well. So what's happened to global warming? Have the EU, BBC and the leftards been pulling our plonkers for the last 10 years? If so, for what purpose? To enable more EU interference and de-industrialisation of Britain? Why have our children been indoctrinated with theis pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo?
As brass monkeys thoughout the land are running around shouting 'Can anybody do a welding job?', the powers that be have got some explaining to do.

What part of _average_ temperature don't people like this understand?
Climate models predict that there will be a higher average temperature, but also more short-term variability. So we should have cold spells and heat waves as the average temperature goes up - and that is exactly what we are having.
It's guy in the EDL. Frankly, for them this is a thought of pioneering genius. This guy is like the Newton or Einstein of the EDL.
The Rest just wander around going "UHHHHH BUUUHUH? MUZZIES GET OUT! GUUUUUHHH"
To enable more EU interference and de-industrialisation of Britain?
No, it's to enable more NWO interference and de-industrialization of the United States. Get your conspiracy theory right, or I'll send over a plane to spray your house with chemtrails!
You're an idiot. They are concerned about climate change , not warming specifically. Do you really think that there is an evil Neo-Luddite conspiracy? That's just ridiculous. Those types of people don't look too highly on the governments of the world, after all.
The English Defense League, for very ignorant morons only. The English Defense League seem to be as retarded as religious fundamentalists and seem to adopt similar tactics in trying to appeal to people who they consider suckers and gullible fools.
We all know that six billion mammals using agriculture and industry on a large scale couldn't possibly have an affect on a planet's atmosphere and meteorology. Could they? Why, that would interfere with current capitalist concerns. No, of course not, it can't be true.
Sorry lads, but you can't deny reality forever. I know that global warming may throw a spanner in the works of the current capitalist way of doing things, but humans are adaptable if enough preparation can be undertaken. I hope?
Sometimes I wonder what the hell they expect global warming to look like. Do they just expect the entire world to suddenly be summer-like all year round or something?
One thing for sure is that whatever these people imagine global warming to be is not what it is.
Brass Monkey:
1/2 oz rum
1/2 oz vodka
4 oz orange juice
Toss the rum and vodka together and stir gently. Pour in the orange juice, and shake well. Pour over ice in a highball or tall glass. Running and shouting optional.
Britain's recent record low temperature were not predicted by their Met office nor by any Climate model .
(Okay, I confess I don't know the output of every run of every model; if anyone can cite one that does show this then I'll apologise. But so far as I know it doesn't exist.)
This is weather, not climate. But it's weather that contradicts the forecasts of twenty years ago that Britains would no longer see snow.
Claims that the record lows are caused by Climate Change are PR, or more technically, lies.

No.
Climate models of the last ten years or so predict an increased range in temperature at the same time as the average temperature increases. That means extreme lows and extreme highs, but slightly more highs than lows.
This was understood qualitatively long ago: having to move more heat from the equator to the poles strengthens eddies in the atmosphere in the temperate zones - which are what drives weather in Europe and North America. It was only in the last ten years or so that the computers got fast enough to simulate that process and make quantitative predictions.
And the _average_ temperature of the planet is still trending upward, as predicted by models from 20 years ago.

I could be wrong. Got a model that suggests this?
There's an interesting article released last month http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/2010/2009JD013568.shtml but so far no model incorporates it.
BTW, everthing I've read suggests that AGW is supposed to preferentially warm the POLES not the equator, reducing temperature differences.
Nevertheless this is still not a 'darnedest thing'. The reality he's experiencing contadicts the forecasts he was given, and he's entitled to ask 'why'?

The jargon gets a bit heavy.
>>BTW, everthing I've read suggests that AGW is supposed to preferentially warm the POLES not the equator, reducing temperature differences.<<
That is a longer term effect - the poles have to warm a lot before the temperature gradient flattens out (open ocean at the north pole during the summer would do it). And the whole system is very complicated.

That he immediately jumps to conspiracy is the point, I think.

I apologise for the duplication of my earlier post. I assume it's my fault, though I have no idea how I achieved it.

Thanks for that link. Will read it immediately.

From the abstract:
Regarding climate change, warm (cold) events will become more (less) frequent and longer (shorter). The number of warm days will largely rise and the number of cold days will dramatically decrease.
That seems to me to be saying the exact opposite of your analysis of it. Also, the exact opposite of what we're seeing. I'll read the whole article, of course, but if I'm misreading the abstract, where am I going wrong?
Climate change and instability, including cold snaps, can itself be an effect of long-term global warming. Oh, and "the last 10 years"? 1988 was when i first heard about global warming.
Oh, go put on a sweater and shut the fuck up. Part of global warming is -- get this -- more extreme weather, that is, summers get hotter and winters get colder.
At least, that's how I understood the science. I could be wrong.
What non-UK readers may not realize is that the "English Defence League" (as we would spell it) are white supremacists and violent with it. They perceive - quite correctly - the EU and the BBC to be positively disposed towards multiculturalism. These organisations also accept the reality of climate change like there's nothing to discuss - which is also the position of the mainstream poltiical parties over here - and that's reason enough for the EDL to oppose them. They might also take comfort from the dreadful British tabloid "The Daily Express" which frequently runs pieces sceptical of climate change. Frankly I would be more concerned about that newspaper's influence than that of the EDL, who are unpleasant bunch of people with no power base and little growth potential: they thrive on publicity, so let's deprive them of it by ignoring their stupidity.

It was dark last night, as well. What's up with that?
***Newsflash***
Winters are known to be cold and produce snow, some times a little, other times a lot!
Global climate change doesn't mean you will have no winters - it means the winters will be more extreme and colder - while the summers will be hotter - on the overall scale, the Earth gets warmer.
OK.
I have to give you credit for the one-liner about the brass monkey. That was quite funny.
But I am still obliged to slap you upside the head for not getting the very simple fact that climate is not the same thing as weather.
Confused?
