Quote# 77809

More and more it's becoming open warfare against Christianity.

AFA reported that themselves and many other Christian groups have been added to the SPLC's list of "hate groups" simply because they declare the biblical fact that homosexuality is a sin.

The Jamo

And yet you still cannot make a clear case for this purported sin, even with the bible. Do you ever wonder why that is?

Percy Q. Shunn

What a sad, pathetic, petty little god you worship. It can't eliminate teh ghey, abortion, satan, hunger, war, theft, murder, drug abuse, alcoholism, child abuse, termites, divorce, or Harry Potter.

In fact, it only seems to be concerned about fucksticks such as yourself worshipping it.

Doubting Thomas

Oh yes, you Christians are being soooo persecuted.

Crucifixion? Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.

The only problem with using the Bible to declare homosexuality a sin is that the Bible has no authority in a secular society. It is your belief that it is the word of god and that is not based on observable reality.
Telling you that is not the same as persecuting Christians. Get off your fucking high horse.

Yelling that someone is evil and is going to rot in hell just because you don't agree with their sexuality is not a right.

12/4/2010 7:18:36 AM

When you're being shot at, then talk about open warfare. Or are you going to use the cry of 'open warfare' to start the shooting yourselves?

12/4/2010 7:28:22 AM

I'm still waiting for God to provide a rational reason for his dislike of homosexuality.

"AFA reported that themselves and many other Christian groups have been added to the SPLC's list of "hate groups" simply because they declare the biblical fact that homosexuality is a sin."

It's not so much what they say as how they say it. Nobody goes on a list of hate groups because people don't like what they say--they get themselves put on such lists by calling for people/groups to be killed, discriminated against or "removed" from society in some way.

12/4/2010 7:49:58 AM

The Watcher

@TGRWulf: Actually, it is. But it's also the right of the SPLC to declare whatever they want a hate group.

And John the fundie makes the mistake of assuming that the AFA has been declared a hate group because they "declare the biblical fact that homosexuality is a sin."

This is utter BS. The AFA has been declared a hate group because they call for rights to be stripped away from or denied to the gay population.

12/4/2010 8:32:11 AM

And how is AFA's anti-gay rhetoric not hateful? Please don't give me that "love the sinner/hate the sin" baloney. it is a cop out.

Don;t like being known as a hate group AFA? Don't spread hate!

12/4/2010 9:10:06 AM

So, your super special We Hate Everyone Who Is Not Us group is being called a hate group for hating everyone who is not you?

Color me surprised.

The funniest thing about all of this is the only thing that's really been at war with Christianity is America's own constitution.

12/4/2010 9:36:37 AM

" ... the biblical fact that homosexuality is a sin."

The bible is to "facts" as slugs are to intelligence.

"Biblical Fact". Good one. Right up there with "dry rain".

As for "militant atheism", can you say "double standards"?

Jade Goggles

if by 'declaring that homosexuality is a sin because the bible says so' you mean 'shoving your idea that homosexuals will rot/burn in hell for all eternity', then i think you deserve to be on a hate group list.

12/4/2010 10:21:47 AM

Personally, I'm surprised that it took the SPLC this long to label them a hate group.

So tell me why you're not trying to run Red Lobster out of business...

Or for that matter, any clothing manufacturer that makes polyester...

Biblical facts is just another phrase for made-up bullshit.

Prof. Bill Hill

It has come to my attention that many humans who lead blameless and industrious lives are actively disparaged and openly hated by barbaric Christian lunatics and Islamic madmen who look to books of sheer horror in order to justify their savagery. These abject morons declare that living is evil and they look forward to death. The main reason for this is an aversion by their religious leaders to people other than themselves having sex. If they can get their believers to worship death, then there's not any reason for those believers to procreate.

12/4/2010 10:48:48 AM

Giggling about fundamentalist absurdities on the internet is open warfare? Gosh. I had no idea I was so powerful.

12/4/2010 11:08:10 AM

That's not the reason they've been classified as hate groups, and you bloody well KNOW it.

12/4/2010 11:14:46 AM

"More and more it's becoming open warfare against Christianity."

And yet, at no time have Quakers, Unitarian Universalists, and non-fundie Christians (especially the fellow commenters here in FSTDT) ever felt their beliefs were under threat. Why should they?

"AFA reported that themselves and many other Christian groups have been added to the SPLC's list of "hate groups" simply because they declare the biblical fact that homosexuality is a sin."

'Sin' is a man-made concept. Nothing more.

'Sin is geographical.'

-Bertrand Russell

Openly practicing any religion other than Wahhabi Islam in Saudi Arabia is a sin and illegal in the eyes of their Sharia law & courts (to say nothing of their Mutawwa). And yet, practicing of any religion in the US is protected by the US Constitution. Destroyed argument, much?

Rush Limburger can spew whatever biased right-wing verbal diarrhoea on US radio. Yet, if he were to do the same on British TV, he'd have the full legal power of OFCOM drop on him like a ton of bricks, and legally forced to not only retract what he said and have to be left-wing in his speech & opinions too (and he'd be heavily fined as well; this happened to Sky News once).

So indeed (certainly here in the UK), having such opinions is a crime. Thought Police (at least anti-homophobic/anti-racist/anti-Semitic/anti-sexist/etc, via the relevant legislation). Good.
