[replying to a surprisingly rational commenter, who said: "As I said, homosexuality is a sin, but let's let God sort it out!"]
Do not include me in your "let's let God sort it out!" cr*p.
Comparing divorce and adultery with homosexual sex is called moral relative reasoning -adultery is and will still be illegal in the military after this homosexual sex is okay law if it passes -where is your morally spineless outrage since according to your reasoning it is not fair that some sins are treated differently.
Our law should reflect the highest standards NOT the least common denominator. Our laws to be legitimate should reflect and uphold our morality and the natural law -the law of God. A nation under God founded upon the principles of natural law and unalienable rights endowed by the Creator DOES NOT spit in the face of God by calling homosexual sex good and normal. An individual and for that matter a nation does not believe in God and defy Him.
Make no mistake --this is all about legalizing homosexual sex in the military and as well it is about placing those who have no moral compass nor respect for God in charge of defending that which they consider irrelevant...
Sodom and Gomorrah ring a bell?
You can support evil by yourself.

"Our law should reflect the highest standards NOT the least common denominator."
Yet you fundies support "leaders" like Sarah Palin, George Bush and Michelle Bachman.
"Sodom and Gomorrah ring a bell?"
Yes. They were destroyed because of lack of hospitality (keep the mud people out of our white country) and failure to stengthen the poor (if those babies want to eat let them get off thier lazy asses and get a job).
If god doesn't destroy America he will have to apologise to Sodom and Gomorrah.

I'm pretty sure it says in the bible that God alone will judge (Vengence is mine sayeth the Lord, judge not lest ye be judged), so if you call this crap you're a blasphemer.
"Sodom and Gomorrah ring a bell?"
Why yes, yes it does. It's a little tale from your book of fiction.
But, assuming for a millisecond that this myth is true (and up is down, black is white and Santa and the Easter Bunny have done it and had bearded bunny babies[try saying that fast three times]). It proves the point of the first poster, namely: Bible-god dealt with it, not people. And he hasn't seen fit to do the same to San Francisco, even though it is on a major fault line, or any other "gay cities."
"Sodom and Gomorrah"? Seriously?
Hey, dunce-cap, just because it is called "sodomy" in today's vernacular doesn't mean it has anything to do with the city!
Oh wait, I forgot, you don't read your own Bible for fear of developing independent thought that may question the Glorious Leader. My bad.
I often wonder which "god's law" they're whittering about: that of the OT (blood, revenge, massacre, no shrimp), or that as mediated (i.e. pik'n'mix to suit themslevs) through JC?
If it's that of the OT, then a general blood letting is in order. Let's start with the twice married/once divorced.
Our law should reflect the highest standards NOT the least common denominator.
...until the next time DBeers gets a speeding ticket, I'll betcha anything.
You guys are always so up in arms about homosexuality. But here's an odd thing. God felt that 10 things were so important, he magicked up some stones with these things carved into them so that Moses could read about the things he really, really didn't want humans to do. Not one of those things says "do not engage in sexual activity with a person of the same gender". It's not even implied. On the other hand, God quite prominently mentions keeping the Sabbath. I have heard that sometimes troops engage the enemy on Sundays. How do Freepers feel about that?
Stupid git! Since when is adultery illegal anywhere, outside Saudi Arabia and Iran?
You're right, all sins should be treated equally; as the outdated things they are.
How can you go on about Natural Law and then call homosexuality bad and abnormal? Homosexuality can be found in most animals in nature.
As far as I know, homosexual sex is just as legal in the military as heterosexual sex. I'd guess neither is promoted, but can be condoned.
Sodom and Gomorrah was about inhospitableness, and the "good guy" offered up his daughters as rape victims for the angry mob. Ring a bell?

Well...it's a damn good thing we are a secular nation then. Right DBeers?
Natural law =/= your specicif translation and idea of the bible verse you choose to follow.
Sorry. If you want natural law, then read a science book.
Oh yeah..phuck off! You defy your god with every bible verse you disagree with, or try to apologize into existence.
Let me guess, I could hold the bible right in your face and show you the verse "Thou shalt not kill".. and you will say "no no, it is thou shalt not murder."
"Make no mistake --this is all about legalizing homosexual sex in the military and as well it is about placing those who have no moral compass nor respect for God in charge of defending that which they consider irrelevant..."
Sex in the military isn't accepted whether the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy is removed or not. Judging by the latest scandals; I would be more worried about politicians tapping their feet in airport washrooms while waving a Bible than a few homosexuals killing America's enemies.
"adultery is and will still be illegal in the military after this homosexual sex is okay law if it passes -where is your morally spineless outrage since according to your reasoning it is not fair that some sins are treated differently."
1. Adultery is not illegal in the military unless it has a direct effect on morale or is found to reflect badly on the character of the armed forces.
2. The law isn't about sex. It's talking about sex, if anything. All it says is that you're allowed to mention your orientation, be ye straight, gay, or bi, without being kicked out of duty.
Of course, who cares about facts when this person doesn't even care about the Biblical facts?
Our law should reflect the highest standards NOT the least common denominator.
So when I'm elected POTUS on my Logan's Run platform, you'll agree to submit to Carousel when you hit 30?
"Our laws to be legitimate should reflect and uphold our morality and the natural law -the law of God. A nation under God founded upon the principles of natural law and unalienable rights endowed by the Creator DOES NOT spit in the face of God by calling homosexual sex good and normal. "
Your government is secular, and there are laws/the U.S constitution stating that there is freedom of religion(and therefore freedom from religion as well). Your 'god' does not take part in your country's system of government. It is founded upon human rights and secular law, not 'god's laws'.
Our government is founded on the consent of the governed. Further, there is no such thing as God, and no such thing as natural law. And yes, Sodom and Gomorrah rings a bell. If you read the fable you'll see that it has nothing to do with homosexuality.
Adultery isn't illegal under federal law or anything, though. It's grounds for divorce, sure, but only local or state laws every touch adultery at all.
"Our law should reflect the highest standards NOT the least common denominator."
Our laws are all based on the lowest common denominator. For example: those of us who could be trusted with a sidearm aren't allowed to carry them in public buildings either. Laws are not made for the law-abiding. Some laws however are made to appease loud-mouthed groups with overblown sensibilities. The kind that hide their blood lust under "moral outrage". These are called bad laws.
Apparently it has escaped you that the reason LGBT's want to serve in the first place is because they consider their nation important enough to die for, not because it is 'irrelevant'.
Your post is bad and you should feel bad.
Ending DADT will not alter the rules regarding fraternization in the military, which is prohibited for a good reason, namely the tendency to complicate and / or compromise the chain of command.
But then again, you're just another know-nothing flag-waving chickenhawk moron, and you've taken up too much of our time with your nonsense already.
"Do not include me in your "let's let God sort it out!" cr*p. "
What's the matter? Don't think your god is powerful enough to do anything without your help?
This is another case of scared little homophobes thinking gays aren't really gay if they're not having gay sex. Serving openly in the military does not equate to having sex openly in the military.
Please take you and your a couple of thousand years old book of fail with you. Regards: the rest of the world.
Edit: i think that the people in your army have much more things around, than just screwing themselves. I mean, there has been men and women serving as long as i know. So where's the humongous pile of sex? not that it matters though.
It's just a nice case of "letting everyone be", which escapes your mind without any obvious reason. No wonder Jesus was crucified. Some fucking bigot got his head full of that liberal, social, all-caretaking attitude.
Funny how Christians are more concerned with homosexuality than they are with "thou shalt not kill," which to me seems to be a far more important commandment. But what can you expect when their holy book is filled with accounts of God's armies killing off his enemies to every last man, woman, child, and animal?
Oh and there have already officially been gays in the military for the past 17 years (though closeted), so allowing them to finally be open about their sexuality doesn't mean the military's readiness or fighting capability isn't going to be diminished. But I suppose you're one of those idiots who think they're going to be driving pink tanks and wearing assless chaps with their BDU's.
Sodom and Gomorrah DO ring a bell. That's the story about how God's pal, Lot, offered that the lustful mob at his door could do whatever they wanted (presumably including rape and anal rape) to his "virgin" daughters, and then God turned Lot's wife into a pillar of salt for looking the wrong direction. Seems like you're supporting your moral argument with some pretty feeble stuff, DB.
It's sad as Hell. Here we are in the 21st century. The developed and developing world is, largely, setting aside the myths and legends that have plagued Man. But? Our beloved U.S., a nation founded on the principle that government and religion are mutually exclusive, is arguably more plagued by myths and legends than at any time in its past.
"Do not inlude me in your 'let's let God sort it out!' cr*p."
I'm pretty sure that, according to Christianity, that's probably blasphemy. And then you censor the word crap? Would you die of a heart attack if I said cunt?
Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of lack of hospitality(something that you surely don´t practice)and, well, we´re still waiting for God to destroy Amsterdam, for example.
I suppose your average fundie is too mentally deficient to realise that the supposed sin of Sodom is totally inconsistant with Lot offering the men of Sodom his virgin daughters. Or was Lot as idiotic as these fundies? Could be. Maybe even worse. No wonder Mrs. Lot got salted.
BTW, the Dead Sea has reached an all time low from evaporation. |It has now divided into two lakes. I haven't heard that Sodom has been discovered yet.
Homosexual sex is good.
You should try it.
Sodom and Gomorrah ring a bell?
Actually, they were destroyed because they didn't care properly for their poor. Does that ring a bell?
Comparing divorce and adultery with homosexual sex is called moral relative reasoning
OK, OK, I know that effectively none of the proud upstanding RTCs in this country have any idea what "moral relativism" refers to (quick review: declaring "whatever my imaginary friend says is moral, is moral" is moral relativism, "we need to develop ethical standards based on shared experiences that we can all recognize" isn't ), but this is a new low -- somewhere between getting it Bizarro World levels of wrong and working from a definition completely unrelated to the usual ones.
Confused?
