(On the topic of Psychology being the Doctrine of Devils)

Rather then sitting down and talking to a person we don't know.. telling them all our problems.. wouldn't it be better to speak and pray to Jesus. He is the One we are to put our Trust in. He is the One that directs our paths in this life.. He knows that we are going through this trial and He is the One we should be talking to.. not a stranger.. that could care less about our problems.. Jesus is the only One that can help us through our trials and tribulations..

And a random priest to whom you confess your sins(let alone Jesus, whatever you mean with that)is no strangers?

loki

I rather talk to my dog or cat. At least they respond and are real

It can be difficult to get an appointment with a mental health professional. Jesus, on the other hand, hasn't so much as checked His voice mail in roughly 2,000 years. I think I'll stick with shrinks.

Didn't they tell Andrea Yates to trust in Jesus too? How did that work out?

"Rather then sitting down and talking to a person we don't know.. telling them all our problems.. wouldn't it be better to speak and pray to Jesus."

So you know this dead, first-century exclusively Aramaic speaking, Rabbi guy well do you?

12/27/2010 1:50:43 AM

FUCK YOU, YOU SHIT!

People like you are those that cause people with manageable health conditions get screwed up because of your stupid doctrine.

@WMDKitty: It did likewise for me. I felt even more miserable and disgusting because I was sure Jesus wouldn't bother to help someone who didn't pray the rosary every day, or who sometimes slipped up and ate meat during Lent, or who didn't put money in the poor box every week.

I quickly went from mildly depressed to borderline-suicidal. It was only when I relaxed my expectations of myself a teensy bit that I was able to look at my own face inthe mirror again without revulsion. I was taught to expect perfection of myself, rather than humanity.

Oh yeah, you pretty much can never hope someone will ever care about you. Not like your favorite ancient corpse does. Now, on a serious note, I think it's pretty sad how obvious this guy's problems with people are.

Jesus told me to kill you ... now what?

Jesus is the ultimate psychiatrist. Unfortunately, he never gives advice.

"Jesus is the only One that can help us through our trials and tribulations."

Jesus is a myth for stupid people, Marianne.
People like you.

===not uless you can tell the difference between 'then' and 'than'.

He is the One we are to put our Trust in.

===But how do you know He exists - unless he talks to you, not merely in your imagination.

He is the One that directs our paths in this life..

===Can you prove any of this, other than just imagining we should embrace your imaginings, or do you imagine the rest of the world should be mad like you?

He knows that we are going through this trial...

===What crime did you commit?

and He is the One we should be talking to.. not a stranger.. that could care less about our problems..

===So when did you meet Jesus, and what did he say and do for you? Did you get any photos?

Jesus is the only One that can help us through our trials and tribulations..

===Could be such an imagining is part of your tribulation. There is help for people like you.

I read about the afterlife

"Wouldn't it be better to speak and pray to Jesus."

Well, at least the person I don't know is definitely in front of me and he/she responds.

Jesus! Say nothing if you want me to drive a school-bus full of children into a nuclear power plant...

Okay, I'll be right on my way then.

I've tried to make an appointment with Jesus but his receptionist said that he has left for the day and that I should try again when I hear the sound of a trumpet.

Or surgery. Instead of seeing a surgeon for that burst appendix, pray to Jesus. Or Optometry. Jesus, not spectacles.
The only thing secular treatments have going for them is that they work, which means they must be a temptation of the devil. Go with what fails every time, and you'll be a martyr.
A martyr to stupidity, of course, but hey- you're almost there already.

Jesus is the only One that can help us through our trials and tribulations..

...Which is why the Bible tells Christians to support and be there for each other. (1 Thessalonians 5:14.)

You fail, Marianne.

Sense when was Jesus anti-healer? Psychology is a science of healing as the brain is an organ. A complicated, three pound gray organ that is as prone to dysfunction as the kidneys, liver, or heart.

Hmm. Rather than talk to a stranger, talk to someone who may not exist and who, in any case, can't answer.

Perhaps some people could benefit from vocalizing their problems to jesus. Unfortunately, most people will spiral into despair or even psychosis if not given appropriate feedback (from a human being!).
