Quote# 78343

Fornication is the diametric opposite of marriage. As Saint Paul observed, fornication tends toward death. That is not opinion, that is a natural law. Like gravity, it applies whether one believes it or not. Fornication destroys the person who practices it, and spreads its destruction to those close to the fornicator; the partners, the children, the parents and siblings, and to the rest of society. Fornicators not only live shorter lives (from violence, drug abuse, STD’s, suicide, other risk-taking behaviors such as drug abuse), but fortunately for the rest of us, they also have shorter careers, either because they get into legal troubles (such as embezzlement), or because their health or psychiatric problems force them out of their positions. Unfortunately for all of us, the social destruction of fornication can completely wipe out a nation.

I find it a bit odd that she specifically mentions embezzlement. I suspect that Missouri gal is speaking from direct experience.

Nah. You can fornicate away every weekend, use proper precautions, and have no health or psychiatric problems. Your family will not only be unaffected, they won't even know about it. You can fornicate and live a long and healthy life, and you'll probably be happier non-repressed.

Most excellent - thank you for the correction. I admit I wasn't looking up the longevity of STDs. I must assume STDs of a general nature existed, however. :)

Question: how could my sleeping around (hypothetically) possibly affect the rest of society? Are they in my bedroom watching? Can I charge a fee?

Ever wonder why most people don't give a shit what some bigoted, misogynist douchebag said over 2000 years ago? Maybe because they were selfish and everything they wrote down was designed to make sure everyone listened to them so they could tell people what to do.

I'm pretty sure there's evidence of Syphilis from the remains of Pompeii which fits pretty well with the St Paul timeline. St Paul died around 67 AD and Pompeii was destroyed in 79 AD, a bit close for comfort...

It's a mistake to be taking any advice from "saint" Paul, the anti-marriage, self-admitted liar and misogynist.

As to living shorter lives, well, I'd like to see the data. There are many grades of "fornicators." Someone who has sex outside marriage just once with a person who later becomes his/her spouse is technically a fornicator though I think you'd nbe hard pressed to shown that one incident shortened his/her lifespan. That's the problem with painting with that broad brush.

Also, those likely to have sex outside marriage may live fuller, more adventurous lives than those with a bunch of self-impossed, pointless limits on their lives. They might die somewhat earier from thing completely unrelated to their sex lives. Remember, Mgal, don't do anything exciting or fun as it may shorten your boring life.

So there's a subset of Christians (those who're Christian and do not engage in sex outside marriage) who, on average, live longer than anyone else in the world? I'm very keen to read the literature on this that you've clearly read. Where did you find it?

Here i thought that christians believed in no fornication until marriage......as for wiping out nations, overpopulation does have that tendency. Please get neutered.
