So he was right then?

We are serious scientists who are fully accredited as such by the "I Am Because I Said So" Academy of Serious Science.
1/13/2011 4:54:48 AM
We are "serious" scientists. We are helping to build a theme park!
1/13/2011 4:56:37 AM
Ph.D in what? Amusement park building?
1/13/2011 5:04:37 AM
Percy Q. Shunn
We are full-time Ph.D. researchers with the Creation Museum and Answers in Genesis in Northern Kentucky
...and the hilarity ensues.
1/13/2011 5:07:14 AM
Were you aiming at helping him prove his point?
Where did you receive your doctorates?
What are you researching at the Creation Museum?
1/13/2011 5:12:29 AM
You should make a petting zoo in that ark. That would be awesome, since it can hold any species... Ahem, "kind" of animal in the world twice over, right?
1/13/2011 5:26:53 AM
Well you must be "serious" then.
1/13/2011 5:42:18 AM
Tell us your alma mater. I bet it is one of those diploma mills, is it not?
1/13/2011 5:55:19 AM
Raised by Horses
You have Ph.Ds in Creationology, then?
1/13/2011 6:05:59 AM
Does your Ark also have a pair of Darwin's Frog on display? (those would have needed to hop all the way from Chile to the middle east before the flood, and back again. A looooong way for a small frog ...)
1/13/2011 6:13:02 AM
Good luck with that shit. We will find it very amusing!
1/13/2011 6:13:48 AM
The PhD's, of course, were provided by Patriot University.
1/13/2011 6:17:25 AM
Most of the animals have died out. Good luck with that!
1/13/2011 6:25:49 AM
so with all the majestic power of the supposed creator of the universe...
you build an ark?
based off of what? a few passages in an old book?
1/13/2011 6:29:42 AM
Oh,yeah? Well I'm a full time Ph.D researcher with the Hogwarts school of wizardry, and I'm helping design the first magic powered spacecraft.
1/13/2011 6:35:05 AM
And you guys have a P.H.D in what now? cause i know it is not science
1/13/2011 6:49:46 AM
'Science' in the service of religion, eh? Nice and medieval!
1/13/2011 7:03:32 AM
Huh. They claim to hold degrees in biology, geology, and molecular genetics. Not that that means much. Some nutters manage to even get through quality universities just before going on to embarrass all their professors and classmates.
Example: When I was at Iowa State University, some Chemical Engineering nut wrote into the student paper a letter claiming the old “Thermodynamics disproves evolution” chestnut. The next day, there was an unofficial apology from a Chemical Engineering professor for letting this kid get as far in his degree as he did.
EDIT: Well, the geologist guy is just an old-fashioned fraud, anyway.

Jezebel's Evil Sister
Hmmm. It appears Roger Guffey misspoke when he said there are no "serious" scientists who are creationists.
I'm sure what he meant to say is that there are no credible scientists who are creationists.
1/13/2011 7:20:57 AM
"We are full-time Ph.D. researchers with the Creation Museum and Answers in Genesis in Northern Kentucky, and we will be helping to design the full-scale Noah's Ark and other attractions to be built north of Lexington."
Yes, yes. Ph.D.'s in what though, is the pertinent information you left out. Simply having a Ph.D. does not magically make you qualified for scientific research (which isn't what you're doing anyway but I digress).
1/13/2011 7:22:44 AM
So... you have Ph.D.'s in ark and attraction building?
You're proving his point -_-
1/13/2011 7:26:40 AM
Lat's see you do this seriously then, only made of wood, fasteners and all to the dimensions listed in the Bible. It's been tried, the wood will break under it's own weight even before the changing support of waves. It's been tried by running steel supports (cheating) inside and still failed. All these attempts also were blocked, frames to support as the building was in process, more support then it would recieve floating.
In other words you'd never get a permit to actually try to build it authentically so you'll cheat.
Yeah, real science. Gotta put some dinosaurs aboard too as Ham and Co. believe they were around then.

Translation: "We think he's wrong, but we're going to prove him right with our actions."

> claimed there were no "serious" scientists who are creationists.
Okay, since you are Ph.D.s, you probably value exact definitions and you got confused about that statement.
So let's rephrase it.
The claim is that no serious scientists, in the field of geology or cosmology, hold creationist viewpoint. This is because they know it conflicts with the demonstrable facts about the age of Earth and the age of the universe, respectively. In case they did assume, even for the sake of argument, that the creationism was true, they haven't been able to demonstrate it, because (as said) the facts are seemingly against them.
Is that clearer now? Got any problems with that claim?
Out of curiosity - why do creationists need tree "full-time" Ph.D. researchers? Didn't the Bible already have all of the answers? Haven't creationists been hard at work for centuries? The public needs answers.
