There are traps everywhere. Bibles laid open, millions of surprises, fine nets and stratagems.
Oh those blasted sneaky Christians! I knew that Bible lying under a tree was suspicious and my suspicions are now confirmed. And since you were nice enough to offer advice, I'll give you some too: if you really want to catch a lot of atheists you want to use chick tracts as bait instead because those are so hilarious that no atheist can resist them.

So you're saying your religion promulgates itself through manipulation and trickery? And that we should join because it will make us blind to the world's ills?
NO SALE!

It's like they think the bible has magical powers in and of itself. It's just a collection of myths and fairy tales, no better than Bulfinch's Mythology.

"if the universe seems so cruel and unjust, how did you get this idea of just and unjust?
Because it is a socially engineered concept that society teaches us as children. Just like 'race,' 'gender,' and 'freedom.' At the end of the day they are all just made up concepts that, thanks to the Thomas Theorem, is a part of life.

I've read the Bible, when you refer to the story, it's one of the most awesome book I've read, but the rest is utter bullshit.

"What are you comparing this universe with when you call it unjust? "
With one run by atheists.

Justice is a human convention, functional but not supernatural. We compare the universe to our concept of justice, and it does not hold up.
"You will never know how much you believe something until it is a matter of life and death."
Is that a threat?

You're just regurgitating the banal bullshit of C.S. Lewis, pal--even when you say stupid shit, you're not original.

I've read sections of the Bible. I've read the Gospels, Revelation, Esther, Ecclesiasties, Job.
I'd read bits and pieces, but I'd never read the thing as a whole. I always felt bad about never having read the whole thing all the way through. So I started last summer. I'm on the book Judges now.
There are only so many descriptions of the arc of the covenant you can take before you say, "Screw this, I could be reading something -- anything -- else right now!"
At this rate it'll be several years yet before I finish the thing. I didn't realize that it would be so boring.
Though I liked the bit about Balaam and his donkey, that was entertaining. I read it out loud to my younger brother. We got at least several minutes worth of laughter out of that.

I got my idea of just and unjust via the logical conclusion that people deserve to be happy unless they deprive innocent people of happiness. Anything that does not harm others, including prostitution, gay marriage, atheism, swearing on TV, lolicon (fictional, not cp), meat, dairy and anything else you can think of that harms nobody should be allowed. I am comparing this universe to my personal utopia in my mind.
