Quote# 79516

Why is Glenn Beck so worried about the future of Egypt? That is an easy question to answer. It has everything to do with one's world view.

The Bible has foretold world events and they are centered around the Middle East. Much of it has already come to pass. He is just trying to get folks' attention to what was prophesied by the Old Testament prophets and by the New Testament book of the Revelation.

If you have a world view similar to mine, you understand it. If not, you think it is folly and he is a nut case.

For those of you who pride yourselves as "critical thinkers", perhaps you should engage in just that concerning the Biblical World View.

I have. It's still a load of horse shit.

You can't critically think your way out of a wet paper sack with written instructions from Herman Melville.

"For those of you who pride yourselves as "critical thinkers", perhaps you should engage in just that concerning the Biblical World View.'

We have. It's no more accurate than the fortune cookie I got at the Chinese restaurant and for exactly the same reason.

Oh, and Glen Beck is a buffoon who is laughing all the way to the bank so your dichotomy is typically false.

Doubting Thomas

I think it is folly and he is a nut case.

Wasting your time trying to predict current and future events based on an ancient book of superstition which has no real prophecy in it is just stupid.

*Yawn*

"dirty girl", do you know how often in the last 2000 years people were deeply worried about recent developments because they thought to have found any similarity to the writings in Revelation? (A hint: It happened so often that we can stop counting)

And do you know how often in the past nothing happened and the world just continued to exist?(Psst, a hint: the world is still there, and the apocalypse NEVER occured)

And does this give you a hint what will happen in the near future? (Psst: the apocalypse will NOT happen. The world will just continue to exist)

Perhaps you should just engage in viewing the book of revelation as what it most probably is: Pure nonsense from the first to the last line.

Maybe we "critical thinkers" have already taken into account the "Biblical World View", and found it to be uncredible and useless? Just like a bicycle is to a fish.

"The Bible has foretold world events and they are centered around the Middle East. Much of it has already come to pass."

Like the Soviet Union attack on Israel that happened in the early 1980s that never happened?

"For those of you who pride yourselves as "critical thinkers", perhaps you should engage in just that concerning the Biblical World View. "

For those of you who pride yourselves as "bible believers", perhaps you should engage in some critical thinking about how hard the bible failed in end-of-world prediction in the 1980s.

Every successful prophet was smart enough to make his or her prophecies so vague that they can apply to just about every person or event. The biblical prophecies, especially Revelation, are no different.

And when was the last time that prophecies were useful prior to the event they allegedly predicted?

The Bible has foretold world events and they are centered around the Middle East.

You know what? The bible was written in the Middle East. To the authors, the Middle East was the world.

And I would love to hear what prophecy has "come to pass." I'm sure it's all bible passages shoehorned to fit current events, just like people have done with Nostradamus.

The funny thing is that Glenn Beck is a mormon and there for this person probably wouldn't consider him a christian.

So in order to think critically I have to think and believe exactly as you do and ONLY as you do? Got it. And next are you going to teach us logic by having us use nothing but non-sequiturs?

You supremely don't want to go there. When I was a devout evangelical Protestant, I did exactly that, and now, here I am.

The bible is not a textbook. Glenn Beck is not only a nut case, he is a dangerous nutcase because he appeals to people like you that think the end of the world would be a blessed event.

Dirty Girl, may I suggest you wash, and then re-read the Bible CRITICALLY, using your intelligence to assess and evaluate it, rather than just swallowing whole what it says.

You will be amazed at its inconsistencies, outright contradictions, factual erros and general tediousness.

"Why is Glenn Beck so worried about the future of Egypt? That is an easy question to answer. It has everything to do with one's world view."

Beck doesn't have a world view. What Beck has are a series of delusions and paranoid hallucinations that he cobbles together into what appears to be the reflection of a disturbed mind.

"Much of it has already come to pass."

If by "much" you mean "none" other than some vague rambling about "war" and "famine" and "disease" occurring, that is.

"He is just trying to get folks' attention to what was prophesied by the Old Testament prophets and by the New Testament book of the Revelation."

First of all, yes. I agree that he's just trying to get attention. Not for the reasons you stated, but I do believe that's why he acts as if he forgot to take his anti-psychotics whenever he's in front of a camera.

Second, you know that Beck is a Mormon, right?

"If you have a world view similar to mine, you understand it. If not, you think it is folly and he is a nut case."

I think no such thing. I know the man is a nut case. I know this because he provides ample evidence of the fact.

There's really only two options: either Beck is actually insane and we get to watch his spiraling descent into madness on a nightly basis (which might be educational for all of you psych students out there) or he should sweep the Oscar Awards in every category (since his emotions seem to run the gamut in each show--from one second to the next even) because he's the finest actor the world has ever known.

"For those of you who pride yourselves as "critical thinkers", perhaps you should engage in just that concerning the Biblical World View."

I have. Your world view failed miserably.

Jesus christ, the mid east has been in a state of war and violence since before the days of your christ...saying in the future they'll be at war again is a given...

But as the bible states the generation of Jesus would not pass till all this had come to be...which means your final days were some 2k years ago

You tell 'em, you "dirty girl" you!
And don't forget the third installment of the trilogy, the Book of Mormon.
I'm gonna gets me a planet when I die. As a girl you're going to have to marry some old man with 10 other wives so you can live on his planet.
Or do you think all that Mormon stuff sounds crazy?

"The Bible has foretold world events and they are centered around the Middle East."

Well, duh. Of course the lies and propaganda everything in the Bible centers on the Mideast. The dumb phucs who wrote it couldn't see beyond their back yards.

The Bible would have been a whole lot more impressive if it contained prophecies about the discovery of new lands in the west, or germ theory, or ... hell, anything that could have been predicted only through divine influence. As it is, it contains only things that could have been thought of or imagined by primitive human beings. As a life guide for the 21st century, it is utterly worthless.

> If you have a world view similar to mine, you understand it. If not, you think it is folly and he is a nut case.

Yeah. We nutcases think that (potentially self-fulfilling) prophecies from drug-fueled allegorical books are worth preventing. Like, it's worth working toward world peace so we don't ever need any epic apocalyptic wars in the first place.

You "rational" Christians just think it makes much more sense to, er, ensure that there's continuing strife in the unrestful regions of the world, and when the evil Antichrist shows up, it's up to the Good Christians to not kill the bastard before all those evil Armageddons start. Or something.

Of course, most sane people are also interested in the future of Egypt, because the less dicatorships are in the Middle East, the better. Hell, for all we know, Glenn Beck is curious about it for this reason, and you are even crazier than he by putting words in his mouth! As for critical thinking, the Bible is one of, if not the, first text that most critical thinkers apply critical thinking to.

People have been predicting the imminent end of Man since long before the Buybull. The biggest legitimate threat is that we will poop ourselves into extinction.

I have applied objective critical thinking to the Buybull. That's why I recognized it as utter bullshit the first time I read it at the age of 13. Although, to be fair, I did skip a bunch of "begats".

Finally, Beckyboy is stark, raving, mad. He's an ill-educated stupid freak. And, while he does say "God" a couple times every sentence, he's a freakin' Mormon. Remember the Mormons? They are a cult that grew out of a convicted con man's biggest score. They were forced to run a thousand miles into the desert and spent about 50 years shooting most any Christian unfortunate to stumble upon them. Fundies who belong to any Faith are insane but the sanest Mormon is crazier than most.

You are correct that it is based off of world view, but your world view is based on taking a work of fiction as fact.
