Influential Evangelical: Mideast Uprisings Violate Biblical Command

But from a biblical perspective, MacArthur maintained that the protesters are in violation of the biblical command to "submit to the powers that be because they're ordained of God."

"I would have wished the American government, which has a history of Christianity, would have risen up and said 'this is wrong, this is forbidden for people to do this, this is intolerable," he said.

"I'm not saying Moammar Gadhafi is the best leader; I’m not saying that Mubarak is a great, benevolent and just leader, not when he’s got $70 billion in his own pockets at the expense of people," he clarified.

But, he stressed, believers are commanded to live orderly, peaceful lives, subjecting themselves to whatever the government would be.

It's a good thing for them that those Libyans are Muslim then.

Tell that to the teabaggers, asshole.

If any smug Western prick wants to tell Arabs to be good little peasants, he should look at the redwood tree in his own conservative eye first. I know you guys are scared shitless of the Arab revolutions because they're showing that people can actually get democracy without you guys bombing the fuck out of them first, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and if you want to tell people they shouldn't protest actual dictators, tell people they shouldn't protest legitimately elected presidents for being black and liberal. Or what passes for liberal in the U.S. anyway.

So you admit that dictators are bad, but then go and say it's bed to rise up against them. Can you say doublethink?

Well, as the USA are very explicitely NOT a Christian nation, they'd have absolutely no business enforcing bablical commands, particularly in foreign, non-Christian sovereign nations. Now YOU, Johnny-boy, YOU and your ilk should submit to your government and shut up, since you claim to be believers :P

Die in a fire. Just die in a fire. It's statist ultraconservatives like you that are the distilled example of everything that is wrong with Christianity today. You are also a hypocrite, because you and your ilk always go against your government when it does something you don't like. (Do the Tea Party and the movement to teach creationism Intelligent Design ring any bells?) You are pretty much the opposite of what Jesus said a follower of his is like.

So then you idiots will stop bitching about Obama?

They did live orderly peaceful lives. The government fucked them over. Had dissenters killed. They had every right to revolt against the dictators

So when white people whine and bitch because gays have the freedom to marry, it's cool, but if brown people rebel against a corrupt government official in order to fight for democracy, it's suddenly evil. Okay.

But from a realistic perspective, Felis >:3 maintained that Macarthur is in violation of the common-sense requirement to "go and jump in the nearest fucking fire".

From a biblical perspective, yes. Which, of course, just tends to confirm that the Bible, also known as 'The Golden Treasury Of Bullshit For Inveterate Cherry-Pickers' or 'The Deliberate Thinker's Guide To Life And Living, As Fictitiously Portrayed By Rabid Goat Herders From Ancient Times' is the self-hating and slavish drooler's friend.

Got a straggly beard? Smell of goats? Unattractive and repellent? Wish to assert your manly dominance over obedient females? Enjoy servile cringing to authority? Will give your money to any old con-man? Find strength in communally shared delusions? Consider facts to be Satanic in nature? Think that learning, specially book-learning, is ungodly? If you answer yes to any of the above questions, then it's likely that the Bible is for you.

Or, an insane moron pontificates about world events by spouting biblical inanities.

So you admit, then, that America sinned greatly by invading Iraq and Afghanistan, Mr. MacArthur?

Or were those invasions justified because America was doing "God's work?"

What makes it even worse is some of the comments. One commenter pointed out how asinine these statements were, considering that their family suffered under an oppressive regime, including their grandfather's decapitation. The response they got? That it doesn't matter, since everyone dies eventually. Their decapitated grandpa is in heaven now, so it's all good.
