"We are concerned that a country that was founded on European-style Christian moral values has now become a multicultural haven for every weird and kinky lifestyle."

And that's bad how?
Also, for the final time, the Founding Fathers were deists and atheists. Get that through your heads, fundies.
"Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition"
That word, Freedom, in your name; that only applies to you then, right?
And "European-style"?? Do they calculate righteousness in liters and grams?
"Gopal Krishna"? Arguing against multiculturalism (among other things)? Am I missing something, here? Is this a troll? If he's jonesing for an endless sea of homogenous pasty-white WASPyness, why doesn't he just leave the country?
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
--Emma Lazarus
This is not a troll. It wasn't an Internet comment -- this was from an actual televised speech this guy gave. I remember seeing a clip of it on either The Daily Show or The Colbert Report.
The guy was an American of Indian descent (with a bit of an accent, mind you) speaking at a Republican rally. He was completely serious. It was rather surreal, to say the least.
I'm sorry, but you may try again when you can grasp two concepts: One, the United States was not founded on "European-style Christian moral values", it was founded by atheists and deists who wrote the Constitution to specifically exclude the establishment of any state religion. Concept two? I fail to see why private, consenting adult activities are at all any concern of yours.
And to think you idiots claim to be for smaller, less intrusive government. Black is white, lies are truth, ignorance is strength! Victory for Oceania!
I've seen "Christian morals" before (or more accurately, "fundie morals").
I don't think they're anything to be proud of.
When you say it like that it sounds awesome.
Try demonizing your opponents, not giving them free advertisement
This one time Britain was effectively ruled by a follower of those European-style Christian moral values you speak of. He forced those values on the people with harsh laws. Pretty miserable time for the average person it was. When they executed him, people celebrated.
The theocratic regime you dream of - not as good as you think it's going to be.
Also, if it's not happening in your bedroom, mind your fucking beeswax.
Don't worry, the Europeans propbably brought much of that weird and kinky lifestyle with them.
Plus, if you take some French, a few Greeks, some Polish and Ukrainian people, and a couple of Danes and Swedes, you get a multicultural collection.
We're all European, but we don't have the same culture. Idiot!
No matter how many times you repeat that lie, it will never become true.
EDIT: And isn't Europe a bastion of socialism according to you guys?
I thought Europe had forgotten its Christian moral values an all that rubbish. I thought they were the enemy, thanks to there atheist, communazi, gay-loving ways.
I just find it loony that an Indian-American is harping on multiculturalism & worshipping WASPyness.
I know ethinicity & culture are two totally different things but still....
And his surname is a FREAKIN' HINDU DEITY! Why doesn't he just change his name to "John Smith" or "Billy-Bob McGilicudy" or something.
I tell ya, it's surreal!
Without the "melting-pot" nature of the USA, he wouldn't be given the time of day! He should be kissing Progressive heineys, not trying to kick them!
The Founding Fathers were pretty good at saying what they meant and meaning what they said. If it was their intention to establish a Christian nation they would have said so in no uncertain terms. They didn't . Instead, the only mention of religion in the founding documents of this country were exclusionary.
Why would the small-government party concern itself with what consenting adults do?
Oh, right. You're all a bunch of homophobic, rent-boy hiring, closeted fascists. I almost forgot.

Two Words, Gopal: Kama Sutra.
Or simply that we in Europe aren't so obsessed about religion eh, pal? Just goes to prove how, compared with much of the US population's existing Puritanical attitudes (which have no right to exist), across the pond there is truly a haven of freedom and tolerance (Scandinavia, the Netherlands etc).
Because religion has no right to tell us what to do.
America was founded on the principles of separation of church and state.
Deal with it.
Christian moral values are greatly overrated, and more often than not, they never existed in the way you think they did. Europeans, in case you hadn't noticed, outgrew the moralistic fairy tales you cling to.
Here's an idea.
Why don't you just follow the church and stop complaining about people not doing things your way, especially if they are not of your religion.
Believe in prayer and purity? Fine with me. But no one else has to put up with you.
Only in America! : ) From what I know, the USA was founded primarily on the freedom to do what you want as long as you don't infringe on the basic human/social rights of other people. If you want to live a kinky lifestyle, you're free to do so, or so I'm told.
"European-style Christian moral values" is an overly broad term. Which ones specifically?
1) The "love they neighbor" value that is rarely followed?
2) The "turn the other cheek" value that is rarely followed?
3) The "kill anyone who won't convert since they are going to Hell anyway" value?
4) The "let's accuse some Jews of poking communion wafers with pins (Desecration of the Host) so that we can murder them" value?
As a Jew, I am very happy that this country is founded on freedom and multiculturalism given that "European-style Christian moral values" resulted in the murder of about half of the world's Jewish population.
Something that should be on the comeback quote list of every rational person:
"the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"
Guess who said that.
Oh, I don't know, maybe our first president, George Washington?
Look at the map. The Netherlands, Sweden, France, and other countries thet are consistently healthier and happier than the US are European. And isn't the pursuit of happiness one of our basic rights?
Confused?
