Quote# 80196

Is it possible that the events in the Catholic Bible is really the History of our Ancestors? of course, the Bible have been told through generations of people, so the true history would have changed. But if you read between the lines, it is so much a possibility that the events had happened.

... And we might as well came from Venus.

I thought of this idea because i believe that our solar system is being pulled by the sun's gravity so every day, we are getting closer to the sun. That's why right now, we have this greenhouse effect (just like Venus). And isn't it a coincidence that the GOVERNMENT is looking into Mars? ... Coz that's the only place habitable in our solar system.

We just move from one planet to another.

And have you wondered why we have discovered Advance Civilizations in our archealogical diggings? where did these Advanced Civilizations came from?

And they say people are becoming dumbed down! Huh! I don't believe a word of it! Just reading the quote from chris is surely enough to convince even the most cynical among us that mankind's future is in safe hands. The breadth of the intellectual endeavour, the tireless and massive research undertaking. Oh, the sheer genius, the magical inspiration, and the sublime poetry of his carefully chosen words, the magnificent erudition. It leaves one gasping for breath.

Anyone want some of what I'm on?

Wait what? When and where have we discovered advanced civilisations?

It's a lovely story :-)
It makes living here on Earth feel so much more magical

So much wrong in so few sentences. Remarkable.

Later he suggests that global warming will lead to a flood like Noah's Bathtime Adventure.

"... And we might as well came from Venus."

Coincidentally, I see you acquire most of your information from Uranus.

Reverend Jeremiah

What advanced civilisations?

You mean Atlantis? LMFAO.

For a moment I thought that second paragraph was sarcasm. Why did I have to be wrong? These folks at New Scientist are weird, and not exactly scientists. This, of course is ignoring the fact that that's not what's causing climate change, and that "ancient" does not mean "advanced". In fact it means the opposite. Stargate SG-1 is not a documentary.

Remember when the earth blew up and we all moved here but we didn't tell the stupid peop--
Oh, never mind.

VENUS IS WAY TO FRICKEN HOT TO HAVE EVER BEEN INHABBITED NOW OR @MILLION YEARS AGO ALSO THEIR IS PROOF OF LIFE FORMING HERE

If global warming is based on your proximity to the sun, then mercury ought to be hotter than Venus. But it isn't. Earth isn't about to turn into Venus because we might get just a bit closer to the sun, and I seriously doubt that's happening.

Raised by Horses FTW.

Learn Newtonian mechanics.

And if you think Mars is habitable you must live in Morecambe.

3/24/2011 1:26:34 PM

All of those "advanced civilizations" are way less advanced than the ones we have now. Certainly not advanced enough for interplanetary space travel.

"i believe that our solar system is being pulled by the sun's gravity so every day, we are getting closer to the sun."

Gravity doesn't work like that. It is more probable that we will eventually be flung from orbit, assuming the Earth doesn't get consumed when the sun enters it's red giant phase. It's possible that rather than consuming the Earth, that the force of the expansion of the sun will be what pushes us from orbit, or at least drastically alters our orbit.

@Giardano Bruno

If he's living in Fundie Texas, Mars must seem quite habitable by comparison.

Meh. He's obviously wrong, but as far as conspiracy theories go, this one's pretty tame. Even understandable, if your knowledge of science isn't exactly up to speed. He's referring, no doubt, to the temples and cities in Central and South America that have been built with astonishing precision and in ways that we have yet to figure out (or duplicate) to this day. Now, there are a lot more sound explanations for it than us all coming from Venus, but still... not too crazy, all said.

Except for the Bible part. WTF?

3/24/2011 7:52:54 PM

casewithscience

Ok - so lets start with the laws of orbital mechanics and go from there, shall we?

Bullshit. They've got very impressive stonework, certainly, but nothing mind-bogglingly astonishing or impossible to reproduce (given the same quantities of labor and time).

So, what happened to the technology that brought us here from Venus? Do we have to re-start civilization every time we move to a new planet? Do you think before you speak?

Of all the conspiracy theories I've ever heard... this may be my favorite.

But I'm worried, cause Mars is actually really small. Far too small for the population of the Earth, are we just going to go with a select few and leave everyone else to die? Also, what happens when Mercury falls into the sun? What will happen to horoscopes after that?

Ok, let's asume that I, as descendant of conversos(converted Jews in Spain)I may have a remote ancestor common to Jesus or any of the people in the Bible. Now, as a woman whose cousin is an astronomer, VENUS NO WAY.
