I am a liberal, and I never ever thought of "embracing Shariah law". Quite the contrary: As a set of irrational religious "laws", it has NO place in our secular society, just as the "Ten Commandments" have NO place in our secular society.

I strongly suspect that this "Shariah Law"-craze is just another thinly veiled conservative plot to smear the liberal spectrum.

It's interesting to note that "Shariah Law" is mostly discussed in conservative circles ...

What's all this about embrace? Accepting that other people have other beliefs, other political view-points, does not mean you agree with everything they say or do.

The only way they can rationalize their Fundie theology is to pretend Islam or Shariah law is much worse, this is done by ignoring the fact they have much more in common then any Liberal or progressive ideology.

Years ago Dennis Miller was asked if Victoria Jackson was acting stupid or really was, he said she's even dumber. Being that Millers whole act was bile and sarcasm (and telling old jokes with bigger words shoehorned in) it was taken as a joke.

Those of us who watched SNL regular then quickly realized she was an in joke, a baffoon they could play off of.
Oddly Millers is in her right-wing camp now, on the slightly lass stupid end.
