(I remember commenting on this a few days ago and there were a lot more than seven comments. But, as I basically said the same thing as Tempus, except no where nearly as concise or elegantly, that at least is no real loss.)

You don't truly love someone if you can't accept them for who they are. It's not real love. It's not real parent love. Parents should accept their children regardless of the path they take, regardless of who they choose to be. You did nothing wrong in raising your child but you are doing everything wrong in rejecting her when she, as your daughter, would want your support and love. :/

it is almost funny that while they always talk about family values,m when it comes down to it most fundies would happpily ostracize or even hurt one of their children for their god. it is usually the moderately religious and the atheists that give a damn about their family.
as horrible as this story is, it shows a strong current trend. as always, the strongly cristian are treating their children like crap. but now, they refuse to take it any more. they turn away from their god. from their parents. they use their brains.
this might be why the fundies are so vocal and spitefull nowadays: they are dying out. religion is shrinking, and they are probably the first to go.
