(On Indiana's constitutional same-sex marriage ban)

I am very, very , extremely happy bout this Ace move by Indiana.
This wisdom will spread, since each state would like to reduce the possibility of their state getting the Judgment of God, before others do.

You see, a lot of folks, believers or not, simply do not want to tempt God in any possible way, when we already face world destructive events.

When the leadership begins to support, aid and abet iniquity, that is when God allows the judgment to occur.
Read the books of Chronicals, Kings etc to see the deeper details how kingdoms rise and fall.

See why States leaders might want to "clean up"

So your god would just snap because of some sin he knew would happen? Also why would non-believers be afraid of tempt--oh, to hell with this!!

I seem to have missed all the “Judgement” in Iowa and Massachusetts. Would have thought that kind of thing would have been national news-worthy.

Or does God just use New Orleans as a scapegoat for everything that happens in the U.S.?

Maybe I'm getting jaded, but this seems like fairly standard anti-gay rhetoric. Nothing, really, to see here.

Countries like Canada and the Netherlands, states like Iowa and Massachusetts are all waiting for that wrath of god stuff, and will be for some time.

The leadership if Indiana supports, aids, and abets iniquity.

iniquity [?'n?kw?t?]
n pl -ties
1. lack of ~justice~ or righteousness; wickedness; ~injustice~
2. a wicked act; sin
[from Latin iniquitas, from iniquus unfair, from in-1 + aequus even, level; see equal]
iniquitous adj
iniquitously adv
iniquitousness n

Denying people their rights seems pretty unjust to me, are you saying God is going to lay down some ass-whoopin' on Indiana?

What I don't understand is this; same sex marriage has had completely equal status with the heterosexual kind since 2006 here in South Africa where I live, but a supposedly developed first world country like America is still vacillating over this non-issue. The mind boggles.

Also, good god man, it's spelt Chronicles.

"You see, a lot of folks, believers or not, simply do not want to tempt God in any possible way, when we already face world destructive events."

So non-believers, people who do not believe in a god, don't want to tempt what they don't believe in? What? Contradict much?

But why stop at gay marriage? You're half-assing it! Your laziness is going to bring judgment upon us all! We need to outlaw all other abominations such as cheeseburgers, shrimp, elastic underwear, rare and medium rare steaks, tattoos, shaved hair, and most importantly working on Sunday (it doesn't matter if you need to go buy food or if your appendix just burst, there is to be NO working on the sabbath so you'll just have to wait until Monday). All of these are equally heinous sins.

EDIT: Actually, I'm wrong. Working on Sunday is WORSE than homosexuality as that commandment was selected as one of the top ten, written in stone, by god's own hand! And while we're on the subject of the Ten Commandments, we need to outlaw coveting too. So if you catch yourself going to your friend's house and thinking "MAN I wish I had a TV like that!", report yourself to the nearest police station.

Non believers don't want to tempt god? Do you even realize what you just said there?

4/5/2011 5:57:33 AM

so whether they believe in god or not, they don't want to tempt him? That's stupid. You're stupid. I don't care about tempting a gos I don't believe in any more than I worry about tempting Lord Voldemort. And anyway, your own bible says that god cannot be tempted, you moron.

"This wisdom will spread, since each state would like to reduce the possibility of their state getting the Judgment of God, before others do."

Before others do? So, they're all going to get it in the end anyway, right? Then what the hell difference does it make if they allow gay marriage or not?

"You see, a lot of folks, believers or not, simply do not want to tempt God in any possible way, when we already face world destructive events."

Says the tribal shaman sitting around a campfire 20,000 years ago.

Seriously. Grow the fuck up.

"When the leadership begins to support, aid and abet iniquity, that is when God allows the judgment to occur."

Yeah, yeah. You'd fit right in sometime in the 12th century.

"Read the books of Chronicals, Kings etc to see the deeper details how kingdoms rise and fall."

Just as they always have--either through conquest or economic/political collapse.

"See why States leaders might want to 'clean up'"

No.

Then again, I'm not a simpleton.

Excellent image! Unfortunately, if Jesus himself appeared and pointed that out to these people they'd call him a heretic, the Anti Christ and a "false prophet" just before attempting to beat him to death with their Bible that they worship so.

I think I tempt God.

I had a vision where He appeared to me and asked for gay sex.

4/5/2011 6:39:08 AM

John_in_Oz

I'm neither joking nor lying in the comment above.
Said vision was accompanied by numinous sensations, as well as the thrice-repeated calling of my name, that nobody else heard. Yes, I was just dropping off to sleep when it happened, but it's that vision that has a lot to do with my current atheism.

Just another Argumentum ad Deus. Nothing to see here, folks.

It's funny how God's views always seem to intersect perfectly with those espousing them. And yet, said Godheads just can't seem to agree on anything else. I mean, how many different Christian denominations are there in the world again?

4/5/2011 7:11:26 AM

Brendan Rizzo

Wow. You actually think that people in the government, who by and large do not believe in the same incredibly narrow and dogmatic interpretation of your religion as you do (in other words, they aren't part of a schismatic cult which merely claims to be Christian) and other government people who have a different religion all together, are afraid of pissing off your almost-certainly-incorrect portrayal of God? Wow... the arrogance is strong with this one.

farpadokly

As other posters have pointed out, what about all the states and countries that have legalized same sex marriage, and seem to be doing pretty well for themselves? It's almost as though they're blessed by God. Or could it be that he just doesn't give a fuck?

4/5/2011 7:45:12 AM

Joe Mama

You know what I'm getting from this? "Do what I want or you'll piss off my god who will destroy everyone and everything if he isn't happy!"

Christians always think that we have to make their god happy so he doesn't kill us all. And this makes their god worthy of worship.
