Are You a Pro-Gay Bigot?

[...]

2. Do you participate in name-calling of those who object to homosexuality -- names like bigot, hate-monger, etc.?

3. Do you believe ‘gays’ have been deprived of the right to marry? Doesn’t pretty much everyone have the right to marry now -- to a person of the opposite sex?

[...]

5. Do you believe some people will just inevitably be homosexual, and that there’s a set percentage of the population that will always be ‘gay’, and that this won’t increase, even if a culture embraces ‘gay’ sex? Do you think homosexual experimentation could never become ‘chic’ and popular? Is there no risk for the people involved or our culture if this happens?

[...]

9. Do you believe that homosexuals are born that way? Do you refuse to consider the evidence against this claim? Have you ever looked at the connection between child sexual abuse and later homosexual attraction?

[...]

11. Are you quick to say “Judge not, lest you be judged” ( Matthew 7:1) and similar passages, without understanding the Christian theology behind it, and all the while being very judgmental yourself?

[...]

16. Do you believe it’s okay for thirteen- year- olds to learn at school that they have the right to have homosexual sex with each other? Do you close your ears when concerned parents are outraged? Would you call such parents “ignorant” and accuse them of “censorship”?

17. Do you believe that, after several thousand years where most cultures have prohibited homosexuality, only now the ‘real’ truth is emerging? Do you believe this is not an arrogant, narrow or immature position?

"That is a great list and describes just about every homosexual, liberal, evolutionist, free thinker, and atheist on this site. And instead of embracing the facts, they just mock what they cannot argue against."
Read through all of the comments, and then come back and tell me we're not arguing against it. Also, the only ones who don't want to embrace the facts are the people who wrote this list and you.

Do you participate in name-calling of those who object to homosexuality?
It's less name-calling and more calling people out on what's obviously prejudiced thought. As an exercise, take your average homophobic rant and replace references to gays with black people. See how disturbing the result turns out to be.

Do you believe ‘gays’ have been deprived of the right to marry?
Yes. Married couples have a slew of financial and other benefits that unmarried ones don't have, and not letting gays marry privates them of those - which by all rights should've been equally granted.

Doesn’t pretty much everyone have the right to marry now -- to a person of the opposite sex?
Fuck you. I really cannot understand how people consider this a serious argument. (Psst! Marriages don't work these days if people aren't attracted to each other!)

Do you believe that homosexuals are born that way? Do you refuse to consider the evidence against this claim?
Yes. What evidence? There's plenty of studies that support that claim (studies of brain structure, childhood behaviour, animals, etc.), and none I know of that suggests that it's chosen.

Have you ever looked at the connection between child sexual abuse and later homosexual attraction?
What.

Are you quick to say “Judge not, lest you be judged”
The Sermon on the Mount? I thought that part was fairly straightforward. It doesn't really seem to apply in this article, for some reason.

Do you believe it’s okay for thirteen- year- olds to learn at school that they have the right to have homosexual sex with each other?
I think at that age you should learn about all the options, and the risks associated with each and how to deal with them. If teenagers already learn about heterosexual sex, why doesn't homosexual sex get a mention? Sexual orientation isn't a contagious memetic virus and besides, teaching people how to have sex safely means you get less STD's that homophobes love to complain about.

Besides, I really don't understand why people think gay sex is like some sort of horrifying Cthulhoid ritual. Yes, STDs are a big risk, but as for that, see above (and you don't really see heterosexuals get called out on it anyway)

Do you believe that, after several thousand years where most cultures have prohibited homosexuality, only now the ‘real’ truth is emerging?
You mean like the ancient Greeks, Romans, various Native American tribes, etc. et al... I could rattle off a whole list of them, really.

Also, I'm really amazed how much that article reeks of pot calling kettle black. It's like they think playing the persecution card gives them carte blanche to be as jaw-droppingly bigoted as they want.

Are you a Closed-Minded Fundy?

1. Do you believe liberals exercise their right to free speech just to get your rights taken away?

2. Do you believe people do things you disapprove of just to persecute you?

3. Do you believe allowing gay marriage will cause your spouse to leave you to have a gay marriage?

4. Do you believe those who support gay marriages are trying to make your children gay?

5. Do you believe the scientific concensus that homosexuality is natural, is a conspiratorial plot to further some gay agenda?

6. Do you believe your Bible is always correct, and anything that disagrees with it is wrong?

7. Do you believe that people would choose to engage in a romantic and/or sexual relationship with someone they don't love and aren't attracted to, because they like to be persecuted by people who don't approve?

8. Do you believe gay lions can be reformed to become heterosexual?

9. Do you believe a heterosexual can choose to become attracted to someone of the same sex?

10. Do you believe that only temples that accept homosexuality have interpreted the gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster in the 'correct' way? Do you feel it isn't necessary to read the relevant gospel of the FSM passages yourself, all of which are straightforward in saying you shouldn't judge people on the basis of fairytales?

4/13/2011 6:09:52 PM

Neith

11. Are you quick to judge people as "sinful" based on their gender preferences?

12. Do you sincerely believe the FSM would approve of you denying adult couples in love the right to marry each other?

13. When Christians are persecuted in a few third world countries, do you believe this automatically makes you a victim of those same acts?

14. Do you close your ears and figure it's a liberal atheist plot if you hear that every branch of science that is even remotely involved in the study of evolution have confirmed it long ago as an undeniable fact?

15. Do you believe anyone who objects to having your religion shoved down their throat automatically wants to deny you the right to worship your imaginary friend?

16. Do you believe it's okay to cause severe emotional damage to small children by making them believe their non-believing friends are going to hell, and by making them worry about their own salvation?

17. Do you believe that, after several thousand years of pagan religions being the norm, Christianity was the one that finally held the 'real' truth? Do you believe this is not an arrogant, narrow or immature position?

18. Do you believe that the United States government was originally comprised of all Christian representatives, but we are now on our way to making Christianity a crime punishable by death?

19. Do you believe that trying to push non-science in science classrooms will have no harmful effects on the US's ability to remain competitive in the world?

20. And--very big question: Is your need for other people’s approval greater than your appreciation of truth? Do you refuse to consider an unpopular viewpoint because it might make you appear unenlightened to some people? If your mind and heart changed about this issue, would you have the courage to be a rebel for a worthy cause, to speak up and inform family, friends--and fellow humans who are involved in bigotry?

"As an exercise, take your average homophobic rant and replace references to gays with black people. See how disturbing the result turns out to be."

Now there you go taking genetics (race) and trying to compare it to a choice (homosexuality).

@ 1278658:

Except that homosexuality is not a choice, meaning that the two are equivalent and can be compared to one another.

Doesn’t pretty much everyone have the right to marry now -- to a person of the opposite sex?

I think this is the argument I hate the most. Assuming you're a man, how would you like it if the only legally recognized marriage was to someone of the same-sex...even if you weren't attracted to men? Now you know how lesbians feel (and gay males, of course, if the genders were reversed).

You fail

Waaah. Bigots are calling me a bigot because I hate others who are not like me. DISCRIMINATION

4/15/2011 12:26:52 AM

@ Brendan Rizzo

Where's the gay gene that proves that homosexuality is not a choice? (maybe you should qualify your statement with "I believe" that homosexuality is not a choice, because that is what it is, your belief)

4/15/2011 4:22:26 AM

@#1278951
Just because there is no gay gene, this does not mean homosexuality is not a choice. Hormones and environmental factors are believed to play a role. Also, since you believe homosexuality is a choice and have no proof that it is, shouldn't you say, "I believe homosexuality is a choice"?
Also, is that you Brewer?
