Many pro-family groups are capitulating to the false notion that "gay rights," in fact, exist
Gay rights is nothing more than recognizing and ensuring that gays recieve the same human rights that everyone else is entitled too. They are not asking for any special "gay only" rights. Or are you bigots now asserting that gays are not human either?
are not maintaining their focus on addressing the truth that sodomy is a crime
There is a fatal flaw with that position... Sodomy isn't illegal in the US. It's settled law. Period.
Consequently, these groups are now finding themselves in protracted, defensive strategies while criminals are allowed to sodomize each other and members of society with impunity.
Why are you even concerned with what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own homes?
When ministering to these people, one of the first things we let them know is that there is no such thing as a right to commit sodomy.
I'm sorry, did I accidently sleep through your Coup D'etat of the US? Is Life and Liberty Ministries now dictating law from on high? If not then you need to understand that there is no such things as the right to decide what rights people do and do not have. This the United States not Jesusland, you don't get to make law by proclamation here.
Sodomy is a crime
And here I thought your "god" commanded "Thou shalt not lie" but it seems I was wrong and the commandment actually says "Thou shalt not lie... Unless thou art doing so in my name". That's the only conclusion I can come too seeing as how anti sodomy laws were held to be unconstitutional and summarily struck down by the Supreme Court, the constitutionally proscribed arbiter of law for the US.
and for Christians to publicly refer to this criminal activity as "gay" or as a "life style" is an anti-Biblical presupposition that suggests to the public, and to our civil officials, that the laws against sodomy can be ignored.
First, Homosexuals did not choose to be reffered to a "gay". Second, Just exactly how is refering to the "gay lifestyle" anti-biblical in the slightest? There is nothing in the bible that can even be so much as inferred as suggesting, much less commanding, that homosexuals should not be refered to as "gay" or homosexuality as a "lifestyle".
Third, There is nothing in the entire body of US law that requires any public servant or elected official to pay any degree of deferrence to any religion or religious scripture, in fact it does exactly the opposite. And finally, public officials cannot. I repeat CANNOT enforce a law that no longer fucking exists!
To ignore what God says is to mock God, and for Christians to suggest that it is permissible for civil officials to ignore the Commandments of God is iniquity -- anomia -- Greek for lawlessness
Once more, this is not a theocracy and as such no public servant, no officer of the law, no elected official, and above all no citizen is beholden to any religious organization or religious text, nor are they given leave to apply religious law in place of civil law or to compel another to submit or defer to such strictures. Moreover, to do so is itself a violation of the law.
Religious commandments of any stripe, be they christian, muslim, pastafarianism, or any other religious sect carry no weight here. And if you were half the literalist you play yourself up as then one would expect to find you out gleefully murdering those who work on the sabbath, eat shellfish, disobey their parents, seek to convert others, or any of the myriad other biblical "crimes" that carry an automatic death sentence rather than just confining your tirade to gays. Your appeals to biblical law are apparently highly conditional, deeply hypocritical, and totally insincere.
