I haven't heard of Obama's mother wanting an abortion before but I could be wrong of course. But other then that, what you're missing is that she CHOSE not to have an abortion. If she really wanted to, she would have, on her own if she had to. That's why people like me are pro-choice: they will if they really want to, and there should be measures in place to assure it happens as safe as possible. All Obama wants is for others to have that very same choice.

Edit: You realize that despite potential, people are guaranteed nothing in life. Beyond that, we wouldn't know the difference, positive or negative, if someone isn't born into the world.

There is a place called hell, but it only exists in the minds of certain people. Ditto heaven. The two places are very easy to distinguish one from the other just by observing the output of the carrier. If the carrier is snarling mad and mean-spirited then heaven has come to the fore in his or her brain, if the carrier appears drugged and smugly self-satisfied or sometimes joyfully delirious then hell is uppermost in their mind.

The majority of PP's work is in ways that reduce the need for people to have abortions in the first place. Surely, reducing the number of abortions is a good thing?

First of all, Obama's mother was not a single mother when she was pregnant with him. His parents were married. They divorced when Obama was two years old.
Second of all, why did you have to mention that Obama was a "half-black infant?" Are you implying that his mother should have aborted him for that reason? Because if so, then you're a dirty racist.
Third of all, as people have said before, Obama's mother CHOSE to have him. That's what pro-choice means: having the option to choose to have a child and having the option to choose to have an abortion. Just because his mother chose to go through with the pregnancy doesn't mean that every other woman will do the same. Obama recognizes that women should have the choice.
Fourth of all, get off your high horse and stop pretending like you actually care about innocent black children. You claim that you want them to "survive the abortionist's scalpel," but what about after that? What about after they're born? You do realize that African-Americans are more prone to poverty, unemployment, and illiteracy than white Americans, don't you? What do you plan to do about that?
If anybody is a "eugenicist," it's hypocritical racists like you who rant and rave about getting rid of abortion, but eagerly clamor for the destruction of welfare programs and other services that help poor black Americans and their children because you just can't stand the thought of those "welfare queens" getting a single cent of your tax money. Just asking, but have any non-pro-life sources (not necessarily pro-choice sources mind you, but just neutral sources) ever said that Obama's mother once contemplated having an abortion? Even so... there are a few rather good arguments against abortion, but for some reason the pro-lifers never use them. It's a pity, really.
