Niagara Region Forced Birth, more like.

(Besides the obvious "appeal to emotion" in this sign)
Yes, every abortion is one abortion too many.
Thats the reason why we "pro-choicers" also strongly support sane sex education in school, encourage use of contraceptives, and generally view abortion as only the last resort. But something which
needs to be free to be chosen.
A woman with an unwanted or dangerous pregnancy is already in a difficult situation. The last thing she needs is additional pressure from ideological fundies.
The result: The Netherlands as one of the most liberal, pro-choice countries in the world has 5 abortions/1000 women. The USA has 20 abortions/1000 women. Any more questions? Who is the real "child-killer"? Pro-Choicers or Pro-"Lifers"?

Never mind the fact that a lot of those abortions are performed because the mother can't take care of a child at that point in her life, meaning those toys would go without being played with anyway. Since, you know, right to life doesn't mean right to a
life with pro-lifers.

supposed to be an argument against abortion?
4/27/2011 3:37:34 AM
100,000 forced births later:
"No, I will NOT donate to your toy drive! Those little bastards don't deserve our charity! That's what they get for CHOOSING to be poor! Those whiny little freeloaders oughta be shot!"

From the frozen north, Death cometh
Step 1: Deny sexual education in schools.
Step 2: Scald and belittle teens who get pregnant because they didn't know better.
Step 3: Deny any statistics showing that abstinence only campaigns actually lead to
teen pregnancies, not less.
Step 4: Picket abortion clinics and harass doctors and patients. If nothing else helps, use firebombs.
Step 5: Feel morally superior to people whose lives you have helped to ruin.

Raised by Horses
Step 1: Ban contraceptives, sex education and abortions.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!
4/27/2011 3:56:03 AM
That doesn't look like a toy I'd give to a child under three years old.
4/27/2011 3:58:40 AM
Sadly abortion is a necessary evil. Accidents happen. Rapes happen. Sex amongst poorly educated kids happens. Poverty happens. Disability and illness happens.
If you shitbags gave a crap about fixing the underlying problems, maybe you'd get your wish for that 100,000 to dwindle to very, very few. But instead you use appalling emotional blackmail to demand that every child is born and fuck the consequences. You don't have any real compassion or love for humanity, only a need to control the lives of others based on your arbitrary ideology.

are being aborted. It's mostly embryos and some fetuses, as most abortions occur during the first trimester.
What about all the spontaneous abortions, acts of God? What about
right to life? Something like 25-95* percent of all fertilized eggs never make it to birth.
No toys are being bought to children who weren't born, stupid.
If the toys are so sad, send them to Africa; many children over there have no toys to play with (and no food to eat).
Let's take care of the children who are actually born, before we worry about the embryos who only have about a fifty-fifty chance of being born.
* 25 percent - no known risk factors
75 percent - women over 40 years of age
95 percent - known genetic problems
(According to Wikipedia.)

the island of misfit toys

Don't allow abortions so toys won't go unsold? The Niagara Region Right to Lifers are obviously funded by Toys R Us.
4/27/2011 4:45:59 AM
That is one of the funniest adverts i've seen in a bit.
4/27/2011 4:46:35 AM
Because no new children are being born at all! NONE! Those 100,000 abortions account for all the pregnancies this year in the Niagara region! Yep!
Also, toys have feelings! Just like in a lot of sappy children's stories!

@Raised by Horses
In my youth I managed to brainwash myself into seeing things the way these people do until I eventually wised up on the issue.
Personal experience states that the South Park line summarizes the mindset perfectly.

This would actually make a great children's welfare ad.
WHY DO RIGHT-WINGERS RUIN EVERYTHING!?!?
(edited for typo)

A toy soldier with a toy gun on a "Right to Life" billboard. Interesting choice....
4/27/2011 5:13:39 AM
Some children will have fewer toys to play with this year because you fundies have fucked the economy with your tax cutting fail.
4/27/2011 5:34:07 AM
I'm sure your campaign will accomplish something other than driving the people who feel they need an abortion enough to back-alley shoddily preformed abortions. No, really, I am. Your campaign will result in plenty of parents being forced into having unwanted children they won't raise properly or any other number of horrible things.
That's the approach, though, right? You guys care more about zygotes than you do about children and people in general.
4/27/2011 5:34:37 AM
I'd like to make a valid point refuting this sign, but I'm too busy laughing my ass off.
4/27/2011 6:00:01 AM
I had no idea that Toy Story was a documentary.
4/27/2011 6:08:23 AM
Argument: Don't have abortions, because then there are less children to play with toys and that makes them sad.
Rebuttal: Rudolf and Toy Story are PRETEND! Toys don't care if you play with them. They're inanimate. Besides more children means more toys made. It doesn't mean companies are going to reduce what ever "waste" there is in toy production.
4/27/2011 6:16:08 AM
Funny thing is when you think deeply about children's stories where toys have feelings you realize this is part of what drives consumerism.
Child gets the impression that material things actually care about being used.
By the time their brains have developed to the point where they factually understand this isn't true the feeling is still stuck in their subconscious.
4/27/2011 6:18:50 AM
I don't have a problem with this. I mean, pro-lifers have generally been outspoken advocates of unfettered access to contraceptives, supported unbiased, proactive, non-abstinence based sex ed in public schools, and have always pushed for a robust social welfare system for young/poor mothers and their children, so I feel that it's okay for them to oppose abortion when they're so dedicated to the aforementioned causes.
Just kidding, they vehemently oppose all of that shit and should go fuck themselves and their infantile worldview while they're at it.
Also why is it that conservatives tend to accuse liberals of being "too emotional" and "illogical" but then back up one of their cornerstone positions (ABORTION BAD) with a bunch of appeals to emotion? I mean they're literally using fucking crying toys here.
4/27/2011 6:19:35 AM
And some children will have less food to eat this year because their parents are poor.
Ever think of that?
