Quote# 80963

There is only room for one truth when it comes to Creation. Thus the orthodox evolutionary theories must fall or better yet, be completely demolished. These theories include Plate Tectonics and the Big Bang. You cannot “mix” Biblical Creation and evolutionary theories. They are like oil and water. Yet when faced with answering THE central question everyone must come to terms with, our origins, many folks wish to intertwine the two into one. Either one is true, and the other is false, period. You cannot fit a square peg in a round hole but many try simply because of their built-in, or better yet engrained scientific ideas that we all have been taught since kindergarten. When these concepts come tumbling down upon proven to be false, many will be left bumfuzzled as to why these ideas were even taught in the first place. Therefore we have a defense mechanism that goes up when our engrained “learning” is challenged. Rightfully so as these ideas are taught as "truth" in everything we see and know. "What is truth" Pilate asked Jesus... So let’s begin to swing the evolutionary wrecking ball and explore truth. Exploring truth will inevitably expose lies and massive fraud.

"For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word." Isaiah 66:2

You have yet to prove that scientific theories are untrue.

Plate tectonics?! Oh jeez...

Funny...I seem to remember creationists using plate tectonics to explain how different animals were able to cross the oceans after the Flood, claiming that the continents had not yet separated at that time. Also, before you ask the obvious question, obviously continental drift was a lot faster in those days, and only a brainwashed scientific evilutionist would think otherwise.

actually you CAN fit a square peg into a round hole and vice versa. provided the hole is big enough

I always thought that fundies quote the bible because they believe that the quotes they choose will have some shocking and shattering effect on the unbeliever, but I must admit that they never do anything with me. I don't find these quotes to be enlightening in any way, shape or form, and quite often I find them irrelevant.

Has anyone else experienced this, or am I just emotionally vacant when it comes to biblical "truth"?

Pssstt. Your ridiculous religion is on the ebb.

You cannot “mix” Biblical Creation and evolutionary theories." Hey! He said something that is accurate! I didn't think it could happen!

Exploring truth will inevitably expose lies and massive fraud.

Except that we have evidence for all of our claims and you have a 3000-year-old myth for yours. Guess which one holds up under close scrutiny?
By the way, check this guy's site. There is some serious fail on that page. This guy believes in a geocentric universe as well.

Fundies Make Me Sick

The creationist story is not literally true. Get over it.

Doubting Thomas

These theories include Plate Tectonics and the Big Bang.

What do Plate Tectonics and the Big Bang theory have to do with evolution? I understand so many fundies get the Big Bang theory confused with evolution because they're both rivals of biblical creationism, but how does Plate Tectonics fit into that?

When these concepts come tumbling down upon proven to be false, many will be left bumfuzzled as to why these ideas were even taught in the first place.

I agree totally. Oh wait, you weren't talking about creationism, weren't you?

Therefore we have a defense mechanism that goes up when our engrained “learning” is challenged.

It's called sticking your fingers in your ears and saying, "La la la la la I can't hear you!"

Exploring truth will inevitably expose lies and massive fraud.

Again, I agree with you 100%. Oh wait, you weren't talking about religion here, were you?

@The Jamo

Any time they put bible verses in their arguments, my eyes just kind of glaze over and I tend to ignore the passages.

Exploring truth will inevitably expose lies and massive fraud.

Yup. That's what scientists did and they found that the lies in the Bible crumbled like two week old bread hit by a sledgehammer. They found out that no, baby goats don't change patterns when their parents fuck in front of rods of the desired pattern. They found out that no, rabbits do not chew their cud. They found out that no, the Earth is not the center of the universe or even of the solar system. They found out that no, the Earth is not 6000 years old, Jesus did not ride around on a triceratops, and t-rexes never ate salads. That you deny what humanity's quest for truth has found just because it doesn't fit with your favorite bed time story shows that your statement here is ironic at best and a hypocritical lie at worst.

Computers were built using evolutionary theories. By posting on the internet you are mixing bible creationism with evolutionary theory. Stop using them.

5/2/2011 10:21:15 AM

It's easy to fit a square peg in a round hole. The hole just needs to be big enough.

The rest is so standard, it's hardly worth commenting.
I just want to say this:
Yes, we should explore Evolution. Hundreds of scientists are doing it ever day, tens of thousands have done it. So far, they've found it to be a very good aproximation of reality (the only truth there is).

You cannot “mix” Biblical Creation and evolutionary theories.

Yes, you cannot mix them. And I want to mention that your biblical creation "theories" (they are all utterly wrong) are also subject to the Principle of Evolution. (cultural evolution in this case)

kudou Shinichi says: ONLY ONE TRUTH.

However, that doesn't mean you are automatically presented with a set of options for 'the truth' and you have to select one whole, complete, and unmodified, even if his cases frequently work out that way because the mystery genre hath its conventions

Huh. What's the Abrupt Appearance Theory? Nice chart.

Square peg round hole--even if it fits, not likely to be very secure. But a round screw into a smaller square hole works out great.

@The Jamo:
No, it's not just you. The verses quoted rarely seem to have anything to do with whatever the fundie in question is bitching about at the moment. I find that kind of irritating, actually.
