Islam is grossly and permanently incompatible with the liberty we cherish in the West.
Theocratic religion is grossly and permanently incompatible with the liberty we cherish in the West.
Fixed. Never forget: The liberties we cherish so much here are the result of a struggle for centuries, fought against the fierce resistance of the christian churches. The arabic world is just now on the edge of the same historical process. And this process there will hopefully lead to: Secularization.

Britain wasn't a foreign aggressor you nit. You were part of Britain and you REBELLED against your god ordained king in order to seize British lands and renounce your citizenship of Britain.

"Islam is not about freedom, it is about heavy-handed and punitive control."
Ummmm . . . .
"making the Muslim faith utterly incompatible with the Judeo-Christian values on which Western civilization has been built. "
You know one of those values is freedom of religion, right? As in "you can't have an abortion to save you life because it's against my religion" is contrary to those values?
"Islam is grossly and permanently incompatible with the liberty we cherish in the West."
Like the liberty to marry who you want to, regardless of the commands of a giant man with a long white beard who lives on clouds? Is that the liberty you're talking about?
"There is no “Spirit of the Lord” in Islam."
And there's no spirit of Allah in christianity. So what?

Theocracy of any stripe is inimical to freedom. That is why the Founding Fathers ensured it wouldn't happen in the States. They knew their history, unlike you Bryan.

It's kinda funny and sad, that these people speak of Christianity as if it was the driving force for freedom and equality in the west...
It's the secularization, The Age of Enlightenment and overall zeitgeist that dragged Catholicism, kicking and screaming by it's feet, from the dark ages and put it in it's place at the Late Middle Ages.

"nation building" is a polite euphamism for "conquering, plundering, and humiliating".
These people already had nations. We destroyed those nations, and imposed colonial rule.
We redrew the map of the region to serve our interests as their colonial masters. And when we were done we took everthing we could steal.
We cleaned out these countrys, and left a desert full of traumtized victims.
Now we are seeing tiny consequences for our massive atrocitys, and we cry out "oh terrorism" whenever a former slave dares to lash out at us for all we have done to them.

Theocracy of any flavor is a nasty shit sandwich, be it the Muslim, Judiasm or Christianity variety.
But ol' Bryan can't and won't look past that because it hurts his argument against Islam.
"My god's better than your god!"
"No he's not! My god's better than your god!"
[slap fight ensues]

Islam is not about freedom, it is about heavy-handed and punitive control. Domination is at the heart of Islam, making the Muslim faith utterly incompatible with the Judeo-Christian values on which Western civilization has been built.
What Judeo-Christian values? I did a comparison once where I saw what rules in the Ten Commandments violate Western law and what amendments in the Bill of Rights violate rules in the Bible and I found that at least 7 commandments violate standard freedoms we give to everyone (and that's being generous and equating bearing false witness literally with perjury) and at least 3 amendments in the Bill of Rights contradict the Bible while the rest were not commented on by one way or the other.

It’s long past time to give up our nation-building efforts in Muslim countries.

Domination is at the heart of Islam
Unlike Christians, who never try to convert everyone they know to their religion.
Freedom is in the DNA of Christianity, but tyranny is in the DNA of Islam.
Bullshit. You Christian nationalists just want the same kind of ruthless, authoritative theocracy that Muslims have in the Middle East.

Because we all know Christian Theocracies have a track record of granting freedoms to the people and upholding basic human rights.

You do realize that the "divine right of kings" was a concept which originated in the Christian world, not the Islamic world, right?
Oh wait, you're just another propagandist, and not a very good one either.

At the time Jesus lived, Jerusalem was part of the Roman Empire. Caesar Augustus ruled for life, and his title was inherited by his stepson, Tiberius - much like what happens in most of the Middle East today. There was no democracy in Egypt or among the Jewish people in biblical times. Jesus was executed for blasphemy and sedition, so there certainly wasn't freedom of speech or religion in his day.
The Bible is remarkably silent on matters of politics. People who see "individual liberty" as the "heart and soul of Christianity" are engaging in wishful thinking and rationalization.

It's strange, if you look at excerpts from the holy books of both religions, you can hardly tell the difference. You'd almost think that the two were related in some way... oh, right.

Whats this "Judeo-christian" crap?
It's fundies ignoring history. Again. Luckily for them many people are too damn ignorant to know any better. They could get away with saying that Jesus was one of the founding fathers of the US if they wanted to and still find plenty of people that would believe them.
