Quote# 81547

Most scientists never even taken a class on evolution. And there are many more scientists who have actually taken time to investigate the validity of the theory have discovered it is bunk.
The truth is most scientists don't want the creation explanation because of the implications so they force feed the evolution fairy tale to people despite the evidence that goes against. For examples, more and more scientists have come out to say that Darwin's Tree of Life is false; random mutations (coupled with natural selection) decreases genomic information instead of increases; the fossil record shows special creation rather than evolution etc.

Evolution is the biggest lie people have fallen for. If I didn't know better I would think Satan is behind the lie to cast doubt on special creation. "No, no you who is more complex than all the machines and computers in the world combined evolved from a single cell which accidently formed billions of years ago." The world falls for it hook, line, and sinker. Satan didn't have to have the Bible burned or only in the hands of few evil men as in the era when the evil Catholic Church had control, he will just have people doubt it by propagating a bogus theory. Hardly anyone would know it's bogus because people are too lazy to research all the facts themselves.

The first sentence is true, scientists that work in the fields of biology that relate closely enough to evolution to require specific training on the subject are outnumbered by the rest.

You should delete that sentence, OP. If you're going for bullshit, don't be half-assed with it and go for PURE bullshit, you came so close!

Just....just.....you say that people are too lazy to research it and yet you have failed to do just that same thing. Research doesn't mean stop when you find people who agree with you and ignore everything else, it means looking into every possible idea about that subject. Then evaluating which stuff is bull-crap and which can be proven to be correct.

Why do we bother, nothing can change your mind, if your holy book said the sky was green you would do everything you could to argue that what everyone else calls blue is really green. You would lose faith if only one thing was wrong with your book, which really shows how little faith you have. A truly faithful person would seek out all knowledge knowing that nothing could shake them from their beliefs, you fear any knowledge because you know that your faith is weak.

Hmm. Most... then many more than most. By definition, you can not use those words in that order. Have you taken any English courses?

So if next to nobody is taking real classes on evolution why are the religiously inclined so adamant that *everyone* is being taught evolution? Or are you referring to advanced genetics courses in college/university?

Random mutation denotes singular events rather than species-wide adaptation. Once a trait begins appearing throughout the species, it is hardly random anymore now is it? The damage to genetic code from non-beneficial mutation is likely an inherent measure to prevent propagation, fitting in rather nicely with the theory of natural selection.

Since you see fit to acknowlege the validity of fossils, should you not also realize that those are the losers of the struggle to survive? I am unsure what you could possibly mean by 'special' creation.

So... lazy are we?

Jezebel's Evil Sister

Steves disagree.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Steve

“Project Steve is a list of scientists with the given name Steven or a variation thereof (e.g., Stephanie, Stefan, Esteban, etc.) who "support evolution". It was originally created by the National Center for Science Education as a "tongue-in-cheek parody" of creationist attempts to collect a list of scientists who "doubt evolution," such as the Answers in Genesis' list of scientists who accept the biblical account of the Genesis creation narrative or the Discovery Institute's A Scientific Dissent From Darwinism. The list pokes fun at such endeavors in a "light-hearted" manner to make it clear that, "We did not wish to mislead the public into thinking that scientific issues are decided by who has the longer list of scientists!"

However, at the same time the project is a genuine collection of scientists. Despite the list's restriction to only scientists with names like "Steve", which in the United States limits the list to roughly 1 percent of the total population, Project Steve is longer and contains many more eminent scientists than any creationist list. In particular, Project Steve contains many more biologists than the creationist lists, since about 51% of the listed Steves are biologists.

The "Steve-o-meter" webpage [ http://ncse.com/taking-action/project-steve ] provides an updated total of scientist "Steves" that have signed the list. As of 5 April 2011, the Steve-o-meter registered 1,158 Steves.”

Doubting Thomas

If it's actually true that most scientists have not taken a class on evolution, it's because most sciences don't deal with biology. Why would a nuclear physicist or a cosmologist need to study evolution in order to further their field of study? And it's funny how the few scientists who disagree with the ToE aren't even in the biological field.

And you do know that Satan is a mythical boogeyman, don't you? You should know that when you bring up Satan as an actual person in scientific discussions, you lose any & all credibility.

Like you. Stop getting your "imformation" from creationist literature. The lies in that material have been collected and posted on many websites yet you toe the creationist line every time.

Statements like "many more scientists who have actually taken time to investigate the validity of the theory have discovered it is bunk" are proof of your bias "research" as statement like that are ONLY found on Religious Creationism sites or literature and NEVER backed up with examples of REAL scientists.

"Most scientists never even taken a class on evolution."

Yeah! Especially those damn biologists!

"And there are many more scientists who have actually taken time to investigate the validity of the theory have discovered it is bunk."

How many are named Steve?

EDIT: Damn! Jezebel's Evil Sister beat me to it!

"The truth is most scientists don't want the creation explanation because of the implications so they force feed the evolution fairy tale to people despite the evidence that goes against."

Your--ahem--"theory" of creation sucks. Badly. It explains precisely jack shit, makes no predictions, isn't repeatable and violates pretty much every scientific law imaginable. It also fails to account for evidence we do have of how reality works.

Give it up already.

"For examples, more and more scientists have come out to say that Darwin's Tree of Life is false;"

Name them.

"random mutations (coupled with natural selection) decreases genomic information instead of increases;"

This is always a fun one.

Define "information" as you're using it. I've yet to see a creationist do so without looking even more foolish.

"the fossil record shows special creation rather than evolution etc."

It quite clearly shows evolution and only evolution. Nothing appears suddenly and is completely unrelated in any way from anything before or after it.

"Hardly anyone would know it's bogus because people are too lazy to research all the facts themselves."

Mirror, mirror...

"Most scientists never even taken a class on evolution. And there are many more scientists who have actually taken time to investigate the validity of the theory have discovered it is bunk."

Most fundies never even taken a class on English.

"The truth is most scientists don't want the creation explanation because of the implications so they force feed the evolution fairy tale to people despite the evidence that goes against."

The truth is most fundies don't want the evolution explanation because of the lack of their implications.

"For examples, more and more scientists have come out to say that Darwin's Tree of Life is false; random mutations (coupled with natural selection) decreases genomic information instead of increases; the fossil record shows special creation rather than evolution etc."

Interesting fact : I tried, and failed, to find a verse in the New Testament that actually condemns the act of lying. One could say that it has been "nailed to the cross" along with the rest of Jewish law, and that Christians aren't bound to be truthful. Actually, the implication seems to be that everything a Christian say is Truth, even when it is observably false, and everything a non-Christian say is a lie even when it is observably true. Make of that what you will.

Here we go with the 'All Catholics Are Teh Debbil' thing again.

:: sigh ::

I'd like to see one - just one - of these dumb bastards actually admit that since the catholics were the ones who took the initiative to find, translate and compile the individual works that eventually became their beloved bible, perhaps they aren't the great evil force that fundy pastors make them out to be.

Catholics were also the first organized group of christians to develop traditions and practices to reflect their faith. All sects that exist now only do so because their founders broke away from the catholic church. If not for catholicism, there would be no fundy fuckwits in the first place.

Come to think of it, maybe catholicism is evil after all.

"The truth is most scientists don't want the creation explanation because of the implications so they force feed the evolution fairy tale to people despite the evidence that goes against."

I think you have it backwards.

"For examples, more and more scientists have come out to say that Darwin's Tree of Life is false; random mutations (coupled with natural selection) decreases genomic information instead of increases; the fossil record shows special creation rather than evolution etc."

How do they have evidence of creation?

"Evolution is the biggest lie people have fallen for. If I didn't know better I would think Satan is behind the lie to cast doubt on special creation."

Oh dear. That darn devil is at it again!

"No, no you who is more complex than all the machines and computers in the world combined evolved from a single cell which accidently formed billions of years ago."

If you ever took biology 101, you would know that a single cell is actually quite complex.

"The world falls for it hook, line, and sinker."

Because it was a historic event in science.

"Satan didn't have to have the Bible burned or only in the hands of few evil men as in the era when the evil Catholic Church had control, he will just have people doubt it by propagating a bogus theory."

Oh, nice. Bash Catholics while you deny reality. Have you ever considered that MAYBE, God created those cells? That maybe evolution is not the devil's handiwork you think it is?

"Hardly anyone would know it's bogus because people are too lazy to research all the facts themselves."

You now owe me an irony meter.
