First, I thought adultery only occurred when at least one of those engaging in sex is married. Otherwise it's fornication.
Second, within our legal system, adultery is little more than grounds for divorce.
Third, where is rape (and I'm not counting serial rape here) a crime punishable by death? Not in our legal system and certainly not the bible. The bible says that the girl must marry her rapist.

From the frozen north, Death cometh
Except that rape isn't punishable by death in most countries (including the US to my knowledge) and even if it was, it can take years to carry out the execution of the felon.
So in effect, yes, you would be punishing the victim of the rape. You heartless sicko.

And if the rapist happens to get away, well then too bad, too bad for the 13-year old girl. Right?

Man, he be a grade A loon.
This is quoted in the thread, and is a prophecy Paul Bethke gave a year ago:
I know you have heard this all before and that is what was intended.
The blinding of Randi and Co. is still an event that is scheduled to coincide with other events.
Well now I know what the other events are—I did not know this a year ago but now it is plain.
The whole purpose of God as revealed is for humanity to acknowledge who he is by virtue of what he has done. . . . So what was planned some eight years ago comes into fruition in this year.
So as many know the world soccer matches SWC will be played here in South Africa where I reside—my land. . . . So the blinding of James Randi and others will coincide with the SWC.
There are some thirty days left to accomplish this—so how do I intend stopping this event?
Why would I want to stop this event?
The reason is that they have scheduled some of the games to be played on a Sunday.
FIFA World Cup which stars on June 11 2010. . . . So here is where I get this idea from—this is how I can stop the SWC from taking place in my land.
There are nine stadiums—so by faith I will decree that the grass in those stadiums wither like the fig tree.
No one can argue that what I intend doing is not Biblical.
A disaster by Biblical proportion.
Another reason for stopping the SWC is that it will only generate lawlessness to an unprecedented degree.
So this is why the Randi blinding event was put on hold—the one event will herald the next event and the events there after.
So now I have announced this all beforehand so that there will be no doubt when it happens.
Count the days to the SWC it will occur before then.
Regards,
Paul Bethke

What if the rapist rapes another girl? Will he be committing adultery? And will the original girl be able to get a divorce on those grounds?

Why is it the fucking sinners in your religion get a free pass while the faithful are fucked by the consequences of other people's actions?
How about if a guy takes it up the ass involuntarily before he's married and the rapist, (possibly his priest,) gets away scott free?
Is he gay-married to the man that ravaged his asshole and his innocence despite the consentual partnerships being forbidden to marry?

"While the rapist is alive the girl will be committing adultery. "
I've heard that in real life. Wanted to bash that idiot's head with a crowbar.

While the rapist is alive the girl will be committing adultery.
Isn't this essentially the same immature logic that says licking something makes it yours?

Even if you put the rapist to death immediately, the idea that the girl is betrothed to him in any way is fucked up.
Must be the same logic used by parents of a female friend of my wife's. She had sex with her boyfriend at age 16 or 17, and her parents made her get married to him ASAP even though she wasn't pregnant.

I agree with the death to rapist thing, especially if the victim is a child. But to call her an adulterer while that evil man would be alive is appalling.

Nah, rape is punishable by death to the rapist ONLY if it occurred in the city and the victim cried out. If she can't or didn't make a loud outcry, tough for both of them - they both get executed.
It's all in Deuteronomy Chapter 22, where you'll also find such fine examples of biblical morality as the following:
Deuteronomy 22:28 “If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife.”
Studying the bible is how I became an atheist.

"Rape is punishable by death"
Yes. The death of the girl if she doesn't scream loud enough. Read your Old Testament.
Assuming she screams loud enough and doesn't need to be put to death for being a victim, the "punishment" is then that she has to marry her rapist. This, obviously, is punishment for the victim and not the rapist.
"so if a thirteen year old girl or younger is raped—the rapist must die—so when the rapist is put to death—the girl can marry some one of her choice."
As far as I can tell, you're full of shit.
"While the rapist is alive the girl will be committing adultery."
Your compassion is boundless.

The Bible doesn't say that. The Bible says if the woman is married or betrothed THEN execute the rapist. If she's single they have to get married and he "may not put her away for all his years". That wouldn't make sense to say if they were going to execute him right after the wedding.
And then it also says if it happens in the city the woman is executed for adultery, because of failing to cry out for help.
If more people would just read the Bible there would be less Christians.

You. Are. Still. Marrying. The Victim. TO HER FUCKING RAPIST!!!!
As long as he is alive, the woman is forced to either a life alone, or as her attacker's wife. Explain how this is not punishing the victim.

I would agree the rapist must die. The latter part of your comment is fucking sick and you show you do not understand adultery nor how atrocious rape really is.
