*Why do you feel a new believer should not study other religions?*

Do you feel it is ok for under age children to have sex with adults?

Non sequitur, to be honest.

HazelHolly

That's a TOTAL non sequiter.

OK, let's handle your question first: No, sex should only be between consenting adults.

Back to the original question: Why do you feel a new believer should not study other religions?

I routinely fucked a 12 year old when I myself was 12, and I'm perfectly fine.

Besides the textbook example of "Non sequitur", the analogies of "drich0150" are very telling.

In his small fundieworld, obviously

"New believer" equals "under age children"
"Other religions" equals "sexual abuse"

Semi-Christian

Wow, reading that thread is a clusterf%ck of ideas. Nearly everyone seems mostly fine, but drich seems to be on a complete different wave length and comes completely out of left field and proceeds to confuse everyone.

The problem seems to be that drich equals Christianity with perfection, and all other religions as terrible sinful whatever so for him the analogy holds true, but is useless to everyone else. Amusingly another member steps in and agrees with drich but is then shot down by a lot of other members. Looks like the Christians are trying to limit their own fundys.

Holy non-sequitur, Batman!

So how about answering the question, fucknozzle?

Worst analogy ever.

And so continues the long trend of fundamentalist 'logic' scaring the living shit out me to the point where the shouting hobos in my city seem rational.

Parents can use drich0150 as a warning to their young children of the kind of gullible fool that has been driven loco by an infection of religion. Being infected by religious stupidity is pretty debilitating, one looses ones marbles and will be unable to act morally and ethically. The poor sufferer is, in almost all cases, better kept in isolation, as the disease can be highly contagious. Luckily, some members of the population seem to be largely immune to its virulence.

So you're saying that you're like underage children and people from other religions are like adults?

...What?

Mind out of the gutter btw, if you immediatly think about pedophilia when discussing something that doesn't even come near that subject.

Even worse, only one other user (a Buddhist) calls drich0150 out on his statement.

Then a Mod comes along and criticises the Buddhist for being off topic and calls the statement 'pertinent'.

Nuts, all of them

" Looks like the Christians are trying to limit their own fundys."

I would certainly hope so. I get my entire dose of Fundie extremism from this site, Crooks
and
Liars site and MediaMatters and I've seen far too many statements from their Preachers, media heroes and politicians that are just as batshit as this.

Church attendance has been on the decline in America for years, hopefully it's mainly within these type of Fundie sects where it's really losing out.

You fail at analogies.

I can't even imagine the mental gymnastics you went through to come to that conclusion. Yikes.

Allegory for Jesus

Hilarious part: If you actually don't think it's okay for an adult to have sex with children, you won't find a reason in Christianity for that moral position! Bad example, perhaps?

"The analogy made by Drich is actually QUITE pertinent! The union of individual with G-d is even more intimate than sex. Obviously you don't know this first-hand "

It get's better. Basically someone calls him on his double standard, about missionaries teaching non-christian Xianity.

"Scenario of hypothetical worshiper actually having intimacy with a god other than the Holy Spirit. This person is in grave danger, if not already possessed. I cannot attribute deliverance to evil. It really is as simple as One True G-d, with no shortfall of evil spirits who would like to be worshiped."

Lol, they think learning about other religions will draw evil spirits in them. Kind of like Harry Potter XD

Yeah..I feel the same way about teaching kids about Christianity...its exactly like underage children being raped by adults.

"Do you feel it is ok for under age children to have sex with adults?"

What the fuck are you talking about?

Why is it that when someone asks a valid question of the overly religious their brain shorts out and comes up with a completely irrelevant answer?

6/12/2011 7:37:16 AM

Nicole

Oh, this logic is actually quite easy to explain.

Newbie Christians are likened to children in the Bible because they're new and inexperienced in the ways of the religion.

Doing anything with other religions is seen as spiritual fornication/adultery.

Therefore, newbie Christians checking out other religions = children having sex with adults.
