Quote# 82181

[in response to poster Abu Rashid, in a thread about a Christian church counselor who raped and attempted to murder a teenage girl]

Abu,

Yes, Christians sin. But the difference between Christians and Muslims is that our God condemns evil. Your pagan moon god Allah does not even exist. If I could show you one false teaching from Mohammed, would you renounce your pagan moon god and accept Jesus?

You have no standing to condemn evil acts. Good or evil can only exist if there is a Moral Prescriber Who determines what is good or evil. You have none.

Why is the fez always red?

Word salad with LSD dressing as transcribed by a dyslexic narcoleptic who only caught half the rant.

Starts with "Sure we sin, but..." then doesn't really finish the thought. Then asks if his counterpart would drop his religion if one portion of it was proved false, which is funny and ironic for obvious reasons. Then says Muslims can't call people out for sinning because they don't know what sin is despite clearly calling someone out on it... and finishes by commenting on hats that have less than nothing to do with their faith.

Read out loud it sounds like a string of arguments the speaker realizes fails midsentence followed by a non-sequitor.

"Your pagan moon god Allah does not even exist."

The same pagan moon god that is called Jehovah? Nice of you to admit you're an Atheist there Tom.

it's the same god, you idiot. And besides, your bible says that bats are birds. And your god allows people to molest children and does not intervene. That is an act of evil, therefore your god is evil, if he exists. Which he doesn't anyway.

In a sane forum, these kinds of posts would earn you a swift ban. This is pretty much an insult to any man worth anything.

I wonder where the "pagan moon god" business came from, beyond Chick Tracts. Muslims revere the same prophets and same stories as Judaism. My even regard Jesus of Nazareth as a prophet conceived miraculously and capable of miracles ... they just don't by the "son of God" or "Holy Trinity" bits.

Unfortunately, in Fundieland whatever some miseducated preacher says is true. Muslims worship a moon god, Catholics worship Semiramis, and Harry Potter turns people into witches. Sure, Fundies sin but even rape and murder are no big deal as long as you tell Sky Daddy you're sorry. (Don't they always say only their god keeps them from committing rape, plunder, and murder?) Non-Fundies go straight to Hell, naturally, because they don't have a personal relationship with Fundie Jeezus.

And fezzes are cool. (Fez? WTF?)

EDIT: It appears the "moon god" thing comes from preacher Robert Morey {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Morey_(pastor)} and his crap archaeology {http://www.islamic-awareness.org/Quran/Sources/Allah/moongod.html}.

How awkward for we sinning atheists when faced with foolproof truisms such as Tom's fierce declaration of the non-existence of Allah the pagan moon god, as opposed, presumably, to the existence of Bible God the well-known cloud lounger. What an extraordinarily powerful evangelical warrior for God's mighty army is Tom. It is very difficult for mere atheists to hold their own in an argument when faced with powerful theological scholarship like Tom's. You just know that you're on to a loser, because if you disagree with him he'll show you evidence for God's existence, er perhaps, er ... well perhaps not.

Because fezzes are cool. And being red makes them that much cooler.

Which is pretty funny when you think about how Protestantism was started partly in an attempt to minimize that kind of appeal to authority. Though it didn’t take too long to simply move who the authority was.

"Yes, Christians sin. But the difference between Christians and Muslims is that our God condemns evil."

Whereas that pagan God of Abraham that the Muslim's worship does.

No, wait. That's not right...

"Your pagan moon god Allah does not even exist."

Allah is not a "moon god" and whoever came up with that shit should be shot, hung and quartered. You only show just how ignorant you are when you repeat things like this.

And no, Allah does not exist. Thus, neither does your god.

"If I could show you one false teaching from Mohammed, would you renounce your pagan moon god and accept Jesus?"

First of all, due to your convoluted theology, Jesus is Allah.

Second of all, I could point out a few "false teachings" from your pal Jesus. If I show them to you will you renounce him and follow Krishna instead? If not then why the hell would you think it's going to work on a Muslim?

"You have no standing to condemn evil acts."

Much of the Qur'an is "don't do this" just like much of your Babble (i.e. Leviticus, which you Christians never seem to read except for the condemnation of homosexuality verse).

"Good or evil can only exist if there is a Moral Prescriber Who determines what is good or evil."

Good and evil are almost entirely subjective to the observer, their psychology, their upbringing, their culture, the circumstances, and even their mood. Very little is universally condemned as "good" or "bad" which is why your Wholly Babble and other religious texts that attempt to prescribe what is "right" and what is "wrong" fail so miserably at getting people to follow them.

"Why is the fez always red?"

Because the crow flies at midnight.

Yes, Christians sin. But the difference between Christians and Muslims is that our God condemns evil. Your pagan moon god Allah does not even exist.

Christians and Muslims worship the same god, idiot. I can guess that that is what Abu Rashid will tell you, but you probably will not listen to him.

If I could show you one false teaching from Mohammed, would you renounce your pagan moon god and accept Jesus?

I do not know anything about Rashid, so I do not know how he would react to being shown a false teaching of Mohammed (of which there are many, of course). If he is a fundamentalist Muslim, then of course he would not listen to you. If he is not, then he might renounce Islam, assuming that you bring up a tangible fact and not a theological question, but that would not mean that he would convert to Christianity, as you would still have done nothing to prove the divinity of Jesus. You know this; after all, you do not think that an atheist would convert to Islam after you "prove" to them that atheism is false.

You have no standing to condemn evil acts. Good or evil can only exist if there is a Moral Prescriber Who determines what is good or evil. You have none.

The same reasons atheists give to disprove this statement can be used here. This is of course ignoring the fact that Rashid DOES believe in a god who proscribes morality.

Why is the fez always red?

Surely that cannot be because that is the traditional color of the fabric used. Surely there are no cases of people wearing fezes before Lenin created the Soviet Union. IT MUST BE A COMMUNIST SYMBOL!

/sarcasm

Kat S.

Like what fmitchell said, it's obvious that he got this information from Jack Chick tracts.

These tracts are named by the creator, a man who is a fundamentalist protestant christian that stays secluded in his home in southern California because he thinks that the Vatican is trying to get him and "They have all of his stuff (publications, videos, etc.) at the Vatican."

I think you should put down the tracts Tom from Mabank, TX.

Jack Chick is the living embodiment of fundie logic failure. He thinks D&D players are exiled from their social circles when their characters die and the game itself is a scouting ground for real spellcasting witches. He thinks homosexuals are literally possessed by demons, and the gay rights movement threatens to give blood if their 'demands' are not met. He thinks Muslims worship the moon and their entire religion centers around warfare. He's under the impression that atheists shout their views non-stop and can't go five seconds without threatening to imprison people when their views are challenged. He thinks a normal atheist household is a den of drugs, hedonism, and murder. He thinks converting to Christianity will suddenly solve marital problems and parental incest. I wish I made that last part up.

Mister Spak

The bible is a lie. We know that because Allah said so. You can rage and scoff, but after you die you will face judgement before Allah, and then you will have no false go to invoke to justify your evil ways.

To be fair, the original news article that Abu cites does not say anything about the rapist being a Christian or a church counselor (no hint of any religious reference is given in the article). It appears as if Abu inserted his own false information to the thread in an effort to rile up the Christians on that board, and apparently he succeeded.
