I just found myself praying-- for the first time in ages-- that Paul Dowdy is actually a university student Poe who, for funzies, sometimes washes his Ambien down with Margaritas while surfing online.
@ Beatbox Beast: Very well-written-- looking back, I can liken my transition toward agnosticism as a process of mourning, of confronting fears by which I'm still sometimes plagued.
On the other hand, @ Grait Thinker: I think I minluv wiht youu.

This must be what scientific illiteracy looks like.
Edit: I just had a look at the thread this comment came from. THAT is what scientific illiteracy looks like.
Scary!

it should be a crime to commit grand assault grammar, punctuation, and spelling, leading to my main point:
ENGLISH, FUNDIE! DO YOU SPEAK IT!?!?

Then who created God?
[you have nothing to lose if you beleve.]
What if you do believe (note the correct spelling), and you die, and it's some other god up there and he/she/it is pissed? So much for nothing to lose?

Thomas Aquinas (~1260): Q. "What caused the First Cause?" A. God.
Data (Star Trek, Next Generation, 1988): "The most elementary and valuable statement in science, the beginning of wisdom, is, 'I do not know'."

He packed a lot of very common apologetics fallacies in there. A false dichotomy. An assumption that there are only two options, and the falsity of one means the truth of the other. An appeal to emotion. And all rounded off with a bit of Pascal's Wager!

"science confirms that life cannot arise from non-life"
False.
Also, I'm just assuming you're too dumb to understand what you're talking about, based solely on your spelling and grammar in this word salad. Most modern browsers underline misspelled words as you type them. So what's the excuse here?
"prosess", "stuff you walk threw", "spear mean round", "befor", "spings"
Also, Pascal's Wager = coward.

'Even if im wrong why would anyone want to live knowing that they are just going to die in that case i dont mean anything life is all for nothing. or you can beleve and get saved and you still dont have to live a sin free life thats why jesus died on the cross. you have nothing to lose if you beleve. and if you dont beleve you have nothing to gain even if the bible and god was not ture.'
OK, I'll bite.
Since you admit to the possibility of the Christian God not being real, why believe in him? The Buddhist version of Heaven is a lot better than Christian heaven. Why not believe in that instead, I mean, if it's wrong you've got nothing to lose. Right? And if it's true you get a decent Heaven instead of the 'praise, praise and more praise' Christian version.
Buddhists also have a horrible version of Hell, you get an ironic punishment based on your sins. If you were greedy you spend eternity with a tiny throat so you can't eat whilst being ravenously hungry. A lot worse than the whole Christian 'absence from God' claptrap. Why not be a Buddhist so you can avoid that awful Hell, while being a Christian only gets you out of their Hell which is tame in comparison.
Also, you live your whole life for the promise of something after death? What a waste. Now THAT'S sad.

Ok, and where did God come from or where did the god before God come?. Following your logic, we'll go on forever.
