(facepalm) Way to make us all look bad :p Yes, Abrahamic religions suck. I resent your assessment of Wiccans and Druids though (especially given the similarities between the two and Asatru, upon inspection), but come on. Following the mythological profile of Odin, he doesn't demand your earthly loyalty or that you not tolerate other religions. Odin is always Odin, and he doesn't really give a crap if you want to worship him or not. So long as you die in a glorious enough manner to get to Valhalla and actually fight at Ragnarok, he gets you regardless. This whole "vengeful, jealous god" thing, at least on a large scale (not personal betrayal but thought crimes) seems like just a projection of the taint of Abrahamic theology onto a neat pantheon.

Asatru is not an inherently racist religion. However, the fact that its origins are in Northwestern Europe and it places a heavy emphasis on the importance of your ancestry, it tends to attract a lot of people who are racist. While there are some nuts around, most of the major Asatru organizations that exist reject racism outright.
From what I've read, I'd even go so far as to say that the lore would speak against racism. The Aesir formed an alliance with the Vanir, and even got along with some Dwarves and the occasional Jotun.

Plus, there's a chance I'd get to meet a Valkyrie, and I choose to believe in the slim and sexy variety as seen in Namco games and the Valkyrie Profile series rather than the fat Wagnerian type.

In Swedish it's "Asatro", and yes, there are quite a few racists here who have adopted asatro in order to feel more "genuinely" Swedish, or something.
We gave up our Aesir faith about a thousand years ago, so I really hope they have their genealogy, their family tree, mapped and tracked since then...

As a Dane, I guess I just assumed that our Scandinavian names were correct, did some cross-referencing with the Swedish and Norwegian wikis (as you can see, Swede says it's Asatro in Swedish too), and came to the conclusion that "if all of Scandinavia says this about the old Norse religion, then it must be true" ;)
Looking more closely I do see that it's with u in Norwegian and I completely neglected the possibility of it being Old Norse. I stand corrected, but I will say this: Accents where accents are due! They exist for a reason and are not that hard to add.

I never got this whole 'white race' thing that people like this harp on about. It almost as if they think people with the lack of a certain skin pigmentation achieved something completely seperate and above everyone else. Categorically failing to realize, I imagine, that all advancements are built on those that came before...which came from different countries.
