Thank you for putting everything in perspective, DoctorDoom. I'm reminded of the fears that we of the more liberal mindset had about Bush the Younger (man, I wish I could have made that one stick) and his possible intentions for ruling the USA with an iron fist.
You have just mellowed my blind political zeal, and for that I am grateful. Unless the USA suddenly invades Poland or annexes Austria, I'm going to rest easily in the knowledge that the hardliners who happen to be in office are not as crazy/influential/competent as my fears suggest.
