That's rather like saying a toolbox should be discarded because it doesn't parrot your morality, rather than being used as a toolbox.
Also, you don't get to talk about "judgement" if you can't spell it. And don't get me started on "Bob Dillon." (Thinking of Matt the TV marshal, perhaps?)

He's kinda right.about one thing: science isn't inherently good or evil. If only he had stopped at the very first sentence...
8/29/2011 1:21:22 PM
Our nation has roots in the Bible? Who knew?
8/29/2011 1:22:18 PM
Speaking of closets.
8/29/2011 1:41:01 PM
These homophobes really are all about penises, aren't they?
8/29/2011 1:48:02 PM
Wow you know NOTHING about science, do you? Science is directly responsible for EVERY modern convenience you enjoy, so unless you're willing to give up everything and live naked in a cave, foraging (not hunting-- that requires tools) for food, then you are a Grade A hypocrite. Science does not address morality, but neither does mathematics, reading, writing, driving a car, building things, most careers, eating ice cream, or anything else that is not philosophy or religion. Yet the fundamentalists only claim that science is evil because of it. Hypocrites... you know what Jesus thinks of hypocrites.

Putting aside the fact that the Founding Fathers were crystal clear about their intent to create a secular nation, as in, "There shall be no religuous test", even Jesus Himeself was clear about the difference between one's spiritual life and affairs of the state.
"Render unto Caeser what is Caesar's", along with His other admonishments to obey the laws of one's government are pretty crystal clear, also---even if Glenn Beck says otherwise
8/29/2011 1:53:07 PM
Science doesn't "believe" in anything. Science doesn't require belief. And the question of god is definitely a scientific matter. God either exists or (s)he doesn't. A universe with a creator is a vastly different place than one with out. These are all matters for science and I hate to tell ya sparky, thus far the results aren't looking favorable to your side.
8/29/2011 2:02:59 PM
Science is a means of investigating physical phenomena. It has NOTHING to do with moral philosophy. There's just no "there" there.
(Oh and BTW these comments are about some pro-pedophilia advocacy convention, so I can kind of understand their outrage...although the way they express it is, as usual, incredibly stupid.)
8/29/2011 2:03:21 PM
Someone calling himself an "American in Israel" should at least be able to spell the name of one of the greatest Jewish icons of American culture.
8/29/2011 2:03:44 PM
"Judgement" (mostly British English) is actually a perfectly legitimate spelling of "judgment" (mostly American English). However, considering the rest of this rant, I highly doubt the author was going for that.
8/29/2011 2:04:22 PM
This is just one big WTF.
What does science have to do with homosexuality, retard?
By the way, the name is "Bob Dylan" and he's hardly been the poster child for religious stability, so who cares what he sang about in a fairly forgettable song.
I don't serve anyone imaginary.
8/29/2011 2:22:29 PM
The problem with using the Bible as a law book is that no two sects see the same rules when reading the Bible (hence why they are different sects). This makes it utterly impossible to implement the Bible as a basis of law without imposing one sect's views on every other sect, which is the opposite of freedom.
You're right that science can't be used to implement a moral system but it never claimed to in the first place. But you don't immediately need to consult an imaginary authority with Iron Age morality, we have plenty of philosophical moral systems that work FAR better than fundamentalism and promote MUCH more freedom.
8/29/2011 2:26:31 PM
Science has no moral value ... Science does not believe in innocence, love, joy, peace or God. ... Like Bob Dillon said,
Unlike religion, science also does not believe in prejudice, hate, bigotry, or superstition.
Yeah, trust an inarticulate heroin addict like Bob Dylan [sic!] instead of objective reasoning based on facts. That sounds about right.
8/29/2011 2:33:58 PM
Will someone please, PLEASE tell these people that NOBODY worships science as a god?! It's not for that!
8/29/2011 2:38:12 PM
Science is a tool that is morally neutral. You are a tool, period.
8/29/2011 2:40:34 PM
You do realise that in Isaiah god created evil. Also science gives us cures and technology
8/29/2011 2:51:50 PM
The comment that this is in relation to a pro-pedophilia convention is erroneous. If you take a look at what the conference was about it was the separation of the criminal act of abuse of minors from the medical definnition of pedophilia.
Decriminalising pedophilia in that context refers to removing criminal stigma from the medical diagnosis. The conference addressed several issues, but particularly that the understanding of non-offending pedophiles (that is those who are attracted to children, but not rapists) is very poor. Therefore diagnosis is difficult.
As you can see not really as terrible as the fundies say.
8/29/2011 3:01:29 PM
@Socob: Yes, I know that quite well; but this poster specifically identifies himself as an American.
8/29/2011 3:25:42 PM
I want freedom by restricting the behaviour and sexality of people.
This is so fail....
8/29/2011 3:54:43 PM
All Hail Science!
Praise Science, I bow down to thee,
I am prostrate on bended knee,
For science, thou art great,
thou teaches me no hate,
And god's penis does not pee
8/29/2011 4:01:47 PM
"Science is bad and evil and I hate it and no good can come from it!" - Man on computer
8/29/2011 4:16:13 PM
Okay, just making sure ;-)
8/29/2011 4:31:26 PM
These people would have us go back to the Dark Ages.
8/29/2011 4:39:05 PM
Science just describes how things work. It isn't supposed to tell you how to live your life any more than mathematics is.
But if you hate science so much, get rid of your computer. Without science you wouldn't be able to spread your drivel over long distances.
