Quote# 83570

Nearly half of Muslims in the US say that they think of themselves first as Muslims rather than Americans. Now that's a problem. It's not a problem when a Christian says that. For the Christian to say "I am a Christian first and an American second," that's what we all ought to say. Our ultimate allegiance is not to country, not to the Constitution, it's to God and the the Scripture. If you have to make a choice between the two, we must obey God rather than man.

But when a Christan says "I'm a Christian first and an American second," the fact that he is a Christian first, he's got devotion and allegiance to Jesus Christ means he's going to be a better American. He's going to be an asset to his country, he's going to love his country, he's going to become more fervent in his patriotism. His love for his country and for its traditions are going to deepen because those traditions are rooted in the soil of the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Now if you have a Muslim, on the other hand, that says that - "I am a Muslim first and an American second" - look out! Because that indicates his ultimate devotion is to the Quran, it's to Allah, it's to Muhammad. It's not to Jesus Christ, it's not to the Judeo-Christian tradition, it is not to American values and American tradition and American history and American heroes - it is to Allah and Allah tells him to slay the idolaters wherever you find them.

So the more devout a Muslim gets, the more of a threat he becomes to America's nation security.

Yama, apparently you don't know jack shit about the history of Christianity. Islam is still going through its dark ages in some regions. Islam came about 600 years after Christianity. So where was Christianity 600 years ago? Take a look at how Christians behaved in the year 1400 -you wanna talk about violent coercion, forced-conversions, torture, or downright genocide.

In another words, fuck off and fix me a shake. When we want an opinion on wife-beating or burger-flipping, we'll call your dumb ass.

@breakerslion:

> Reminds me of the scene in the movie, The Ruling Class, where Dr. Herder throws two loonies who think they're Jesus Christ in a room together.

That film was a brilliant satire. I loved the bit when Peter O'Toole said 'Do you know how I knew I was God? I prayed, and I realised I was the only one who could hear me.'

Must go watch it again.

Hey, it's "Judeo-Christian-Muslim values", stupid. You all believe in virtually the same deity, asshole.

God also says "Thou shalt have no other god's before me" which is basically "slay the idolaters".

Your Founding Fathers saw this exact thing happening in Christian Europe; different brands of Christianity/Religiosity waged war against each other. That is why they said that NO religion should be mixed with government.

The more devout a religious person gets, the more of a threat he/she becomes to any nation's security, basically.

Really you guys? Where are the death threats against Dan Brown because he wrote a book critical of Christianity? And yes guys are persecuted in Uganda, name one Muslim country where homosexuality is legal. Yes in Uganda it is illegal and I am not defending that, but at least there are Christian countries were it is legal. Name one Muslim country where blasphemy is legal. Yes Christianity is fucked up but that is not a reason to say Islam and Christianity are equal, Islam is worse. And don't bring up things that happened in the past, Christianity at least in the West has evolved. Degree matters. Did you guys even watch the videos I posted.

I mean this guys is spouting total and utter bullshit, but lets think before we get too apologetic for Islam.
@ About fundamentalism, as Sam Harris pointed out not all relilgions are the same, a fundamentalist Jain is much less of a threat then a Muslim Fundie, as that would mean he would be obsessed with not killing to the point of trying not to step on ants.

Bryan Fischer is out of his fucking mind. How could he not see such an obvious double standard. You are a hypocrite and a batshit fundamentalist.

@Yama: If the Christian fundamentalists of the world had their way we wouldn't have any more homosexuals or non-Christians. Also, there body count is almost as high as fundamentalist Muslim's

I'm sure all the people that Christians tortured and killed in the past are happy to know that they don't count. Not to mention the current homosexuals, abortion providers, children who are refused medical treatment, etc who are outright killed by Christianity, as well as those who are only "encouraged" to die by Christian beliefs (suicidal gay teens come to mind)

The only reason you're saying that Islam is worse than Christianity is because you have the luxury of living in 2011, instead of 1400. Neither religion is inherently worse than the other because both their holy books spout a bunch of horrible bullshit that no one in their right mind would listen to. Line Islam and Christianity up, "Dark Age" to "Dark Age", and they come out smelling exactly the same.

I may be sadly mistaken, though I'm sure I'm not, but in the mainly religously motivated Thirty Years War which was just breaking out around the time the Pilgrims boarded the Mayflower, there were no Muslims involved. It was all Christian vs. Christian.

People were tortured, maimed, burned, blown up(!), trampled to death, etc. Because they were Protestant. People were tortured, maimed, burned, blown up(!), trampled to death, etc. Because they were Catholic.

The war ended up wiping out about half of Europe's population at the time. Entire towns, villages and even whole cities were leveled and the entire population was murdered, men women and children, in cold blood. All in the name of Jesus.

How easily the Christians forget their own past.

The war ended up (more or less) with the compromise we still have today: freedom of religion, at least in part.

It sounds like the American fundies want to turn the clock back 400 years and start the war all over again, just this time Christian vs. Muslims. Although, the Baptist fundies just might prefer the Muslims over the Catholics.

Now, I won't even get into the various Protestant/Catholic purges, murders, state persecution, etc. in the time between Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.

The ocean of Christian blood spilt by Christians in the Name of Jesus is wide and deep.

this also ignores the fact that muslim americans, according to a recent zogby poll, place their religious identity BEHIND their political identity in terms of priority -- and far more frequently than either christian or jewish americans.

I am not saying Christianity is peaceful. In the past it has done horrible things, and still does. But it a matter of degree, Islam is worse. And has done that shit in the past, and continues on the same level. Fundies in the US are crazy morons, but they don't the same kind of power that fundies have in the Islamic world. I am not saying victims in the past don't count, but that Christianity has evolved. Islam is the only religion out there as far as I know kills people over fucking cartoon of novels today. I know Christianity would in the past, but not today.

Christian first - American second?

Might I suggest that Brian (Original and correct spelling of the name!) should go and live in the Kingdom of his god, which, as the Bible says, is not of this world. I'm sure we would all be a lot happier. Brian included, especially as it would save him from having to answer the charge of being treasonous.

Yes, it's always best to pay allegiance to something that doesn't exist, something like Bible God for example, it makes it far easier to follow your base instincts and to loudly proclaim your evil desires and criminally insane intentions. In fact, Bible God is probably an excellent choice to follow as He is the perfect example of a drooling moron that is unable to grow older and wiser, preferring instead to maintain an eternal childish tantrum and to remain in a constant state of ignorance. I can certainly see why Bryan Fischer prefers his God delusion to America.

You're comparing apples to oranges (Christian fundies in the U.S. to Muslim fundies in the Middle East) Fundy Muslims in the U.S. are either exactly as bad, or actually a little better, than Fundy Christians in the U.S. And Fundy Christians in other parts of the world (particularly places like Africa- where homosexuals are killed for being gay and children are abandoned and killed for being "witches") are as twisted and fucked up as Fundy Muslims in the Middle East. There is no difference of degrees.
