Quote# 83711

I have read through the comments posted on crossroad.to, concerning anime/manga. I have to say this about most of the readers comments DEFENDING anime/manga: Do you (anime/manga fans) not realize that you are replacing life with this anime/manga hogwash? Going into excruciating detail about some FICTIONAL cartoon characters as if they were real? Don't forget, that anime/manga is directly associated with the anime/manga that portrays girls AND women as throwaway toys, only good for sex and abuse? I have seen some of the most brutal of the anime in years past, and, technically speaking, ALL anime/manga is of the same roots. You can't have one genre of anime, without realizing the extent and brutality of the others.

Anime is MAINLY for adults, evidenced by the storylines. Some anime is just plain BORING. Some is DISGUSTING. ALL of it is like watching soap operas: The gullible and reality-denying individual treating fictional characters as REAL, hence the troubling trend of little kids acting like they are gods, superheroes, wizards, and animals. Even if there WERE such a thing as CHRISTIAN anime, the roots would STILL be there. One could not perceivably "christianise" something that is inherently evil.

No matter how many of you DEFEND anime/manga, you NEED to realize that this genre of entertainment is nothing short of witchcraft, REGARDLESS of the messages/storylines presented. Anime, like other ungodly trappings in life, has been designed to rip you from the real world (God's creation), and stuff you into a state of mind that neither pleases God, nor will ever draw you closer to Him. Take it from someone who KNOWS about this topic. When you begin to blur the lines between good and evil (whether it's a little or a lot), you push yourself farther and farther into the chasm of depravity and insanity. Anime/manga is a product that is best flushed back into the cesspool from which it came.

Well, somebody is sure pissed that the other kids in primary (elementary) school teased him for being a supreme loser for not having pokemon cards!

@anon-e-moose
I applaud you, sir/madam. Your ability to totally annihilate this drivel, then absolutely blow the tar out of the rubble is truly impressive. Bravo, bravo.

"hence the troubling trend of little kids acting like they are gods, superheroes, wizards, and animals."

More's the pity:

>:3

While I've seen lots of catgirl cosplayers at anime conventions (mostly Felicia, from the Capcom videogame "DarkStalkers" and generic characters; non-series specific ones) I've yet to see anyone do similarly as Lotte & Aria, the Lieze Twins from "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's" ;_; (*grump*). However, at an anime convention in the US several years ago, I had the privilege of meeting a delightful lady who was cosplaying as Eclair (from "Kiddy Grade"); posing here with her lipstick whip:

Talking with her, I discovered that, like me, she was also an enthusiast of all things Keiji Gotoh (ergo, her favourite character being Eclair, in this, her favourite series):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keiji_Gotoh

http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/encyclopedia/people.php?id=1478

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89clair_(Kiddy_Grade)

She's also a Christian (just not the fundie type, that's all; her not even having a problem with the fact that said costume design also includes a [cut-out] cross, neither).

Just a little more mental torture there, to spice things up whilst you're in the Chaos Dimension, Toddy-boy. >:D

Aw, shucks. Your kind words humble me greatly. You make a happy man feel very old (shome mishtake, shurely?! X3 ).

If I can make just one person smile every day, I'm content. :3

...and 'madam'? That alone makes me roffle my waffles! (*looks down trousers*)

...phew, thank Haruhi for that! The ol' fella's still there! X3

Oh goddamit, not again guys! Sheesh, yeah, Japan's a bit behind the times on gender equality, but as Anon-e-moose pointed out, it's not so bad.

Actually, allow me to add one more: Hungary/Elizaveta from Axis Powers Hetalia. Docile, gentle wife, right? Yeah, well, go after Austria and see what happens. Hint: it involves guns, frying pans, and your ass being handed to you on a plate.

Do you (anime/manga fans) not realize that you are replacing life with this anime/manga hogwash? Going into excruciating detail about some FICTIONAL cartoon characters as if they were real?

They do understand the definition of reality and fantasy. Why, did you want them to explain it to you?

I have seen some of the most brutal of the anime in years past, and, technically speaking, ALL anime/manga is of the same roots

Yeah, Walt Disney. Seriously. The root of all anime is Walt Disney. Oh the irony.

And what the fuck anime have you watched? Devilman and Crimson Climax? No wonder your opinion is skewed!

Anime is MAINLY for adults, evidenced by the storylines.

Astroboy, Hello Kitty, Pokemon...show me an adult who watches those (okay, maybe not Astroboy, that does kick ass), and I will show you someone with their mittens pinned to their jacket year-'round.

Even if there WERE such a thing as CHRISTIAN anime, the roots would STILL be there. One could not perceivably "christianise" something that is inherently evil.

It's called "Superbook". It's an anime about the Bible. I think there's another one, but who gives a shit, it's dirt boring anyways. Also, Evangelion and Spriggan involved biblical themes. Happy now?

you NEED to realize that this genre of entertainment is nothing short of witchcraft,

Right, because this one time, I was late for school, so I just screamed out "Moon Prism Power" and developed superpowers and totally made it in time. Because everything ever expressed in any media is always a documentary. ALWAYS.

Or, magic isn't real. One of those.

Sailor Moon is not REAL ! oh the horror !

Wouldnt that apply to all fiction ?

Christian Anime ? a cartoon of the kinky sexual practices of sodom ^ gommorah ? that would be sooo cool

"Anime is MAINLY for adults, evidenced by the storylines."

Toddy-boy here had better not watch the currently-airing in Japan anime series "Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon" then, if he knows what's good for him.

And not just for the Fanservice neither, re. the female characters, most of whom are... 'generously endowed', to say the least (and not just in the breast departments; some have hairstyles that'd make Vidal Sassoon want to commit seppuku!). Nor for one character who is the first 'Reverse-reverse-reverse trap' [/'Dropped a Bridget on him']. No, it's this factor:

Now, I love a story/plotline that I can really get my mental teeth into (thus "Babylon 5" is one of my all-time faves), but to compare "KSnH" to "B5" would be like trying to make a "Janet & John" reader seem like "Dune". Apart from the basic scenario plotline of "Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon", frankly I'm just going along for the ride; but the scenery's pretty! (imagine "Final Fantasy" or "Phantasy Star" turned up to 11). Toddy-boy's brain would Divide By Zero if he watched a few episodes of such!

The 'light novels' that "KSnH" are based on... well, let's just say that one volume of such could stop the door of Fort Knox's vault. "KSnH" as 'Light Novels'?! The phrase 'Oh, the irony!' exists for a reason.

Moral: Just as an iPod is a digital media player, not all media players are iPods, just because Hentai exists, doesn't mean that all anime/manga are Hentai.

PROTIP: The word 'Hentai' is now in the latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. And the professors, scholars, academics, etymologists & lexicographers of the OED are ultra-deadly Serious Business when it comes to new additions to (certainly research for) the definitive lexicon of the English language.

--ADDENDUM--

Toddy-boy here had better not watch the anime series "Chibi Devi!", if he knows what's good for him:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=13489

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chibi_Devi!

(emphasis added):

'Sawada Honoka is a 14-year-old girl who is very timid. She easily gets bullied by other classmates. Honoka is a non-believer in God, Angels, and Devils. Though one day, a devil baby was dropped into her room while she was sleeping. What will Honoka believe in now.'

Lest it blows his. Fucking. Mind.

Imagine "The Omen" combined with "Potemayo", and you'll have some idea.

You've never watched anime, have you? Hentai isn't the only damn genre out there. CHRISTAN ANIME? Oh, that is rich. I honestly believe that no inanimate object is evil. It's only the way we use it.

Using your logic, I shouldn't read The Bible because it's a book, just like Lolita, Carrie, and many others.

Also, Superbook.

Technically speaking, ALL art/media is of the same roots. You can't have one genre of art, without realizing the extent and brutality of the others.

Love that argument! "Society has been canceled, guys! Yeah, it's all fundamentally evil. All forms. Yes, speaking too; all communication's out. Too risky. Tell you what, I'll meet you in a few weeks at the abandoned remains of the cybercafé, we'll share some insect larvae and grunt at each other (not that those grunts will mean anything)."

One could not perceivably "christianise" something that is inherently evil.

Paganism is evil, right? Does that mean we can get our holidays and customs back? I'd like to see the return of Yule, Samhain, Eostre, and the ways in which they are celebrated, to the rest of us.

While you're at it, maybe some of those miracles and fables you clearly plagiarised from other religions, including that of the Egyptian pantheon, nascent Buddhism, Mithraism, the Roman religion, the Gothic religion, etc, could be removed from your theology and returned to their rightful owners.

When you begin to blur the lines between good and evil (whether it's a little or a lot), you push yourself farther and farther into the chasm of depravity and insanity.

Fundie in a nutshell. It's their insistence that only an external authority can distinguish good from evil, and that questioning that authority's judgement is but a step from infantophagia, that makes them world-class nutjobs.

Dire Miralis

Dear Todd,
Your LOGIC does not MAKE any SENSE at all.

"Anime/manga is directly associated with the anime/manga that portrays girls AND women as throwaway toys, only good for sex and abuse"

I do not KNOW what you are TRYING to say in that SENTENCE. Actually, I DO know EXACTLY what you are trying to SAY. It is an idea KNOWN as "ALL ANIME IS NAUGHTY TENTACLES", and it is MISTAKEN. Yes, there is an adults-only SUB-GENRE of anime/manga called HENTAI, often featuring explicit SEXUAL content, and OCCASIONALLY rape or abuse. But the mere FACT that hentai like that EXISTS does not MEAN that ALL anime -or even all hentai- dehumanizes WOMEN. Anime HAS many strong female CHARACTERS that do not take KINDLY to perverts.

"The gullible and reality-denying individual treating fictional characters as REAL"

Come BACK when you have some incontrovertible EVIDENCE that God is REAL, and I will forgive your HYPOCRISY.

"The troubling trend of little kids acting like they are gods, superheroes, wizards, and animals"

Playing PRETEND is normal for kids, and is perhaps the FINEST part of being a kid. Probably our BEST childhood MEMORIES are of playing at the PLAYGROUND with our friends from SCHOOL, pretending TO be wizards, spaceship pilots, and video GAME characters. I can SUM this up with some devilish Japanese ROCK music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzSR_TFMirs&feature=player_embedded

"You NEED to realize that this genre of entertainment is nothing short of witchcraft, REGARDLESS of the messages/storylines presented."

You NEED to find OUT what the definition of WITCHCRAFT is, rather than TACKING it onto anything you don't LIKE. And you are CONTRADICTING yourself in that last PART by IMPLYING anime can have "GOOD" messages/storylines (but IT'S still "witchcraft" ANYWAY.)

"Take it from someone who KNOWS about this topic."

Blatant LIES.

I hope you are WELL (not really), and I suggest you GO to REHAB for your evident CAPS LOCK addiction.

"Anime/manga is a product that is best flushed back into the cesspool from which it came."

Along with "Superbook" - which kicked off the whole interest in Anime in the US* (and therefore the rest of the world) - via Pat Robertson's Christian TV channel? Also...?:

...and thus everything related to it, therefore becoming corrupted beyond redemption?

You said it, Toddy-boy, I didn't. [/hyper-smartarse]

*- PROTIP: Without Walt Disney, Warner Bros et al (and US superhero comics; Japan's equivalent, the 5-member 'Sentai Teams', and thus "Power Rangers") - influencing the likes of Osamu Tezuka, thus the fledgling animation industry; post-war modernisation, democratisation & Americanisation of Japan - there would be no Manga & Anime, and therefore Hentai (which again, it's popularity is mainly due to interest in the US; again, mostly via Pat Robertson contracting Tatsunoko to create "Superbook" for his Christian TV channel. In the US).

Enjoy your paradox.

From what i've seen, anything they don't like is 'witchcraft'. They never explain why.
I remember one TV preacher ranting on
against Pokemon. He stumbled around for some actual evidence to prove his point, but had no real reason for his charge.

He actually did literally stutter on about it nonsensacaly, and eventually just said 'just trust me, these things are evil!'

Huh?
